Can a good Hepi filter unit catch airborne asbestos particles?

After initially suspecting asbestos, I think I just got white paint with regular duct tape as a few spots of tape peeled away and I could see gray where the paint didn't cover. I am using this stuff called Fibercock ABC for encapsulation anyway. For bigger jobs you want a P100 rated respirator, a hazmat suit, googles and plastic sheathing to seal off doors, windows and vents, and a shop vac with a HEPA filter. Get a 2 gallon sprayer for water to spray down areas before removal of things like tiles. Work inside out. Do your tiles first, cleanup, then do your drywall and clean up. You should be able to find something to eat mastic and then scrape it up with a squeegee. Double bag the trash and label it. Find the nearest landfill that can take hazmat and dump it off. Do a final clean of a room with wet mop and toss mop in trash. Mist the air around you to capture any airborne particles. You should be fine as long as you take all the precautions and isolate work areas.

My grandpa died of asbestos exposure. he did car mechanics in the 50s and nuclear energy later on. Both exposed him to asbestos.

Great video. I have a basement full of them but very solid and it looks sealed with a clear coat. I am leaving it and going over with tile. Do you recommend sealing with a paint or something then tile over ?

I just encapsulated an asbestos tile floor that was in good repair with epoxy garage floor coating. Ran several coats up to about 3mm and then used a moisture barrier and covered in LVP. Hopefully solved the issue.

Wow, you really need to learn about respirators before giving advice. Those respirators you've shown are great for asbestos work, but both would need the proper filter. You've shown them with black cartridges which filter out organic vapors. They do not stop particulates, such as asbestos. For asbestos, you need purple or magenta filters (P100/N100/R100). Yes, you have a particulate PRE filter on one cartridge, but that is not rated for asbestos. And an orange or lemon for fit testing? Come on. You are putting people at risk with this nonsense.

Would it be best to wet it down first?

How often should you replace an ejector pump?

1) For a worker on a job, it is illegal and unsafe to use either of these respirators with a beard. Homeowners can do what they want, but they have to know that they will not be protected with that beard. 2) Both respirators he shows are for organic vapors, they is not effective or legal for asbestos dust, you need P100 or HEPA filter cartridges instead, 3) Using a lemon to test the fit is not great, there are better tests you can do just with your hands, which are still not sufficient, but better than a lemon.

Does it have to be painted or sealed? We have asbestos tiles and are laying down flooring over them but I don't know if it's been sealed. They had carpet over them initially.

Renovating old kitchen, removing lower cabinets revealed massive amount of water damage. Dad started sawing the subfloor to see how many joists were affected. Then we saw there are asbestos tiles under on of the layers of flooring. He power sawed the heck out of it before we even knew. Dust everywhere. Hvac on. Like what now 😬😬😬

The tiles we found under carpet in my basement are in about the same condition as these. You messing with them makes me feel better. They scare me and it’s going to take months for us to save up enough money to get them abated.

My mom house was built in 1970 through 1971. However years ago carpet was installed. My question is I wanted remove the vile, bacteria filled carpet with laminated wood floor. The said the floors needed to be tested for asbestos before they could the laminated flooring.

recently my bungalow flood with water due to loft pipe burst, after removing the laminate floor noticed there is asbestos flooring below with bitumen. Almost three weeks running dehumidifer, still mositure on it but it's good in shape.. can i install the flooring tiles, on top current absestos tiles ? is there health risk installing on soaked absestos tiles? kindly advise

I know this video is from a few years ago but is touching the asbestos wrap/tape like you did dangerous? Does that release invisible fibers? I am asking because some people say not to touch it at all but I had a certified asbestos inspector touch mine in the basement.

i found some "chalky" white subsatnce on the pipes at my sons school, they inspected it said it wasnt asbestos.... what could it be, i so glad i was mistaken... but now im curious what it was.

Great post , replace before it goes out ........in my house for 25 years , no problem with pump but I replaced it in year 25 .

I really dislike dealing with those outlets. Although we don't have them here in Japan, so I only have to deal with them stateside. Japanese outlets tend to be either 2 plug sockets, or they will have a slot to plug in ground wires, and the power cable will have a green ground coming out of the 2 plug with a flat crescent moon shaped end bit of you need that. I don't believe I've seen the triple plug outlets except for appliances. Or at least here in Tokyo, Kyoto and western Japan are on a different power setup, so they might have different outlets too.

What do you do if there is mold (not black mold) on the asbestos tile. Can you Bleach it before encapsulating it? Also can you seal the tile with something? Tile is in my kitchen and mold is on tiles near sink and dishwasher area. Thanks for your help.

I live in a house with asbestos. It is covered up by tile but there are some holes in the grout. my grandparents have lived in it for 40 ish years and have zero health problems and I've lived in it since I was 1(19 now) I plan on taking it out when the house is fully mine.
