Hiking ALONE on the Trans Catalina Trail | TCT California Backpacking Vlog
That's so cooooooool!! Will see you hopefully on the trail since we are finally hiking the PCT as well this year. We will be starting the 14th of April. So exciting! We will be creating a UA-cam series as well about the PCT. Can't wait to follow your journey along. Good luck and see you on trail!
Oh my gosh that's so exciting!! Just followed so I can watch your journey too! I'm gonna send you a DM on Instagram right now!
Congratulations on your PCT Permit. Looking forward to following along on your journey. Happy Trails!
Thank you so much!! So excited to share!
Yay! Super excited to follow along!!!! ❤ go girl!!!!
Ahh thank you!!
Best of luck on your hike. I live in San Diego County. The good news is there isn't any snow in southern California right now, the bad news is that it also hasn't rained, so many water sources as of now are not available. Hopefully, we'll have some rain in the next month and a half. The chaparral is normally green and flowering by February and March. - If you don't want to pay for the pricey shuttle service, it's very easy to get to the terminus from the airport in SD via public transit on *weekdays*. Total cost is $12 for a day pass that includes the easy San Diego Trolley from Old Town to El Cajon Transit Center, and then the Rural 894 bus to Campo. A free airport shuttle takes you to the Old Town Transit Center, and there is a Big 5 sporting goods with gas canisters a 15 minute walk away. If you've never been to San Diego, consider chilling out there for a few days. It's amazing.
Thank you!! I actually grew up in south OC, about 2 hrs north of the terminus - but honestly I’m screenshotting this info to share for others who can’t get a personal shuttle from Mom to the trailhead! The lack of rain is shocking right now! I mean, there’s been bad years for sure, but this is pretty nuts. I went hiking out in Catalina last year when it was so rainy, and it looked like Ireland! Not gonna be the story this year. I’m definitely preparing for long water carries from the get. I hope at least Hauser has some water, but we’ll see. Thanks for all the info!
I'm so excited for you! It will be a life changing adventure all along the way. You'll be thru some of my former trails and I'm looking forward to your vids...especially the longer ones. I can already tell they are going to be some of the best docutrails!
Thank you so much! Editing on trail is definitely going to be a new challenge, but I'm so excited to share the adventure! And yes, life changing seems about the right way to put it!
Best wishes for a successful thru-hike of the PCT. And, you said - '...the adventure of a lifetime.' Congratulations, even before you begin. May the force be with you. Be well, stay safe. 🥾
Thank you so much! The support on here has been incredible and I can't wait to share it all!
I'll be starting April 21st.
I'll be right behind you! Hope to see you out there!
Just subbed to follow your adventures! The PCT seems like the prettiest of the 3 big thru hikes is the US. How exciting!
Thank you so much! I grew up in California and I'm pretty biased but I definitely agree! Excited to share this crazy journey with everyone!
Heck yeah dude! Holler if you see an orange guy out there. I currently have a May 20th permit, but I'm hoping to start earlier. Happy hiking!
Hope to see you out there! I feel like you can totally snag an earlier permit eventually or do local permits. Can't wait!
Can't wait to follow your journey. Happy Adventuring!
Thank you so much! I'm excited to share!
I can't wait to see your updates. I'll be out there starting May 3rd!
Let's do this! So excited for you!
Good luck and I can’t wait to see your adventures.
Thank you!! It's gonna be a wild ride for sure!
Thats awesome! Can't wait to watch the vlogs! I'll be thruhiking the PCT SoBo, see you out there!
That's awesome!! Can't wait to cross paths with you out there! SoBo looks so epic too.
Can't wait to follow along!
Thank you!! Can’t decide which is more intimidating: the trail, or the UA-cam editing 😂
Got..the..moves😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice moves babe
Got the moves😂🙌🏻
Haha. Welp I was/am a book nerd, went to school foreeeever and now a dentist. Moved from boring ole Iowa where there is zero opportunities to hike … 4 years ago moved to Arizona and hike as much as possible so ya, follow me. Hahahaha. 😊😊😊
Can TOTALLY relate! I love the southwest and I've heard so many cool hikes in AZ!
Yeeeeeesssss …. I crawl out of bed last minute on mondays but when Saturday rolls around!!!! I spring up at 4 ready to gooooo❤❤❤😂😂😂😂
Right?! Why is that so freakin true! 😂
Super informative video. Thank you! I’ll be hiking Catalina in May of 2025. Couple of questions: 1 - did you road walk from Avalon to trail head on day 1? 2 - on the stretch between Two Harbors to Parsons … was it an out-and-back on the ocean side, or did you do the loop? (my current plan is out-and-back) … thank you!
Have fun!! The road walk from Avalon to the trailhead is maybe 15 minutes. There’s no cars really on the island, so walking is your only option. Super safe! I did it as an out and back from two harbors to parsons along the coastal road, but it is technically a loop, I was just too tired for any more up and down! Most people I met did the road, but either will get you there! Hope this helps and have a great hike!
I' m the oposite. Can help you mate... got ya.
I am also a biochemist. Nature is so beautifull. Here for you bro... onya..
i got it.
what that means?
Great information did Zion about 20 years ago did Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes and Zion brings back memories. Don’t forget Kolob Canyon which is part of Zion but not connected to the main canyon it’s an amazing place to visit quite different from the main park.
Totally agree! Kolob is a great addition to the list. I went there for the first time on my last visit (only briefly) and it's absolutely worth seeing if you have the time and want a quieter side of the park. LOVE Coral Pink Sand Dunes! I have a Kanab video coming out in the next couple of weeks too - it really is a spectacular place! Thanks for the watch and comment!
Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub and 👍7
Thank you so much! As a new creator I truly appreciate it! I’ll have to check your channel out!
do you always backpack alone? Or is it something you’ve done before
Not always alone - but that was definitely the longest stretch I’ve gone solo!
men just love to hate, don't they
Yes!!! Love it. ❤❤❤❤ we can do anything.
Thanks for the narrative. I think it’s worth the time!
Thank you! Such a stunning drive and there really is so much to explore. Thanks for watching ❤️
This looks spectacular my friend!
So stunning! One of the prettiest spots I’ve ever been
Which part of the trail is the last part of the video??
In between Little Harbor Campground and Two Harbors! Its like 8 miles along the ridge like that and its STUNNING!
You don’t need to be out there alone!!!!!!! Don’t you watch those disappearance videos!!! Seriously!!
Thanks for the concern, but I’m one of thousands of women who solo hike every day! I take my safety very seriously, but every stat proves that I am much safer in the outdoors than in a city. I’m also a former criminal prosecutor, so I’m even more aware than the average person about the risks, and still think that the rewards are absolutely worth it!
As a solo hiking woman, I can say there’s a lot less to worry about in the backcountry than people think. And women are very capable in the outdoors
@LaurenRoerick you can always spot someone who’s never been solo hiking themselves. I often feel much safer out there than walking around my home. Thanks for the beautiful insight and support!
@@brookeinboots exactly! That kind of fear mongering drives me crazy 🤦🏼♀️
@LaurenRoerick same! Cant wait to check out your PCT vids - getting ready for my own first thru next year!
I loved this hike it really is the best trail in s. Cal
totally agree. I think it deserves to be talked about like Baldy and Jacinto. Totally unique, and those campsites are unreal! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video I really enjoyed it 🤙
So glad you liked it! Thanks for watching ❤️
