raccoons are throwing a pool party every night in my pool.
Переглядів 440Місяць тому
I can't believe this how do I fix this? For weeks we would wake up and find poop in our pool. We always thought it was an iguana. Nope! I set up a camera last night and the answer is there are pool parties going on every night. the first group, a mom and 3 kids swimming around. 2nd group of adults of 6 swimming around. Then to top it off a 3rd group of 5 pooping in the pool. What do I do???

Hi Doug & Team, Presumably your video numbers are based on Facebook? In which case, I would be very wary of Meta's number manipulation, which has been proven to be total B/S. Seems highly unlikely that this (great) video has XX thousand views on Facebook, but only 66 plays here on UA-cam. I'm a socmed manager in the superyacht industry (in the Med) and would strongly recommend embracing UA-cam and monetising your excellent content here. Your production values are high and the content is interesting/entertaining, so why your engagement here is close to nil beats me... There are many very average UA-camrs frequently hitting 100K+ views and doing very nicely ($$$) out of it, thank you. In the meantime, great chat with Juan Gainza. I wouldn't argue with his general immigration expertise, though there are some issues that require clarification in respect of yachting. Specifically, if entering the US on a B1/B2 visa to look for work on board, you must exit the US before accepting a job offer and you should then re-enter on your B1 visa. ESTAs can work too, for some crew members. Juan mentioned D1, but this is unsuitable for yacht crew. Post-COVID, foreign crew have been able to work on US flagged vessels in US waters, as per US Customs and Border Protection. We have written an extensive (I would say, 'definitive') guide on B1/B2 visas, which we update whenever there are changes. It's available here: estelashipping.es/the-a-to-z-of-b1-b2-visas/ Love the channel, keep it up. Best regards, James (james.vanbregt@estelashipping.net)

Great video! One more question I had that you almost answered… Someone with a B1 working visa that has been in yachting and got their visa applying with yachting documents - wanting to go to the states for interviews and looking for employment. Will they be allowed to enter the states and what type of paperwork do they have to have to enter the US to probe they are coming for interviews or for working opportunities in the yachting industry?

Disclaimer: I am not from the yachting industry, but I sail commercial and passenger vessels and I’ve heard this same sentiment. Couple of counter points: You state that crewmembers want to put titles on their name to somehow embellish their record and pretend they have more experience than they do. Later on, you state that people are getting their master’s license in two weeks and immediately getting a job. Both of these subjects are a matter of perspective, and there’s always someone higher on the food chain willing to shit on you for making yourself out to be more than you are. You yourself stated at the beginning of the video that you were a captain of ocean going vessels at 26. I can tell you now that if you made that statement on the bridge of an unlimited tonnage vessel, they would laugh in your face. Do they have the right to do that? Debatable, but we can all agree it’s uncalled for behavior. You held the liability, you get the title. And furthermore, if vessel owners continue to shrink staffs while purchasing larger vessels, a single steward doing what used to be the work of 3 people has every right to state that they were “head of the department”. With regards to your statement about owners requiring experience for entry level positions… how on earth do you think we got ourselves into this labor shortage in the first place? For years, companies in every industry got away with requiring exorbitant amounts of experience for entry level positions because the workforce was flush, they were CHEAP, and nobody lifted a finger to foster and mentor new blood into the industry. We (the industry) got ourselves into this huge mess and now the regulatory bodies are printing credentials as fast as they can to fill all the holes, leading to a crew full of inexperience from the top down. Again, this is OUR fault, not that of the “FNG’s”. Finally, you mention that owners are “tolerant” of crews’ perceived misbehavior, but not accepting. To me, this sounds like a failure on the employer’s part to run their “business” and a failure of leadership on the captain’s part. FULL STOP. Once again, to me this points to a general failure of the industry as a whole to maintain standards. This takes years to happen. Who had the conn as she was steered toward the rocks? What stands as a fact is that the maritime industry at large faces a significant challenge in maintaining a safe, efficient, and desirable workplace that can compete in a tight labor market. Time to get our hands dirty and do the hard work of training that was put off for so long.

It's generational, not just Yachting. Most university business grads think they "deserve" to start out as Bank Vice Presidents. They haven't learned that no one "deserves " anything, it's what you have earned through hard work and perseverance gaining practical experience. Same in Yachting. A "Captains license" is simply A LICENSE to LEARN.

your so right on this vid.. nice way to stay away from yacht sales, don't say anything :) the 800 a day 100 ton charter guy was funny also. What license do you hold ? The knots was another good one! I'm most interested on the Lee statement. The Viking that beached was running in the Lee or Windward ? You have Sailing Roots ? I run in the Lee often and if it's blowing good it's my favorite "ESE" "East" "ENE" wind while in Naples Florida. I can still get into the Gulf and go north and south in nice calm seas. If there was a Full Propulsion failure the worst that would happen before dropping anchor if needed to investigate would be I'd start drifting with the tide Mostly North or South and the wind would push me further offshore ? I actually got lucky exiting the Gordon Pass a couple years ago with a strong outgoing tide and an Easterly wind when both Diesel engines failed within seconds of each other. I'm not sure dropping anchor would have worked in the Pass so I let the boat drift out before dropping the anchor ( lucky ) It turned out to be the gasket material used to cap the fuel tanks where the hoses and shutoffs were mounted. The material would degrade from the fuel over time ( 12-24 months ) and turn into tiny beads that would accumulate in the ball area of the Racors. So even thought the bowls looked perfect and the fuel looked clean danger was lurking. Although taking all the parts of the Racors apart and cleaning was on a maintenance program depending on what glass bowl would tell me I now break them down more frequently regardless of what the fuel looks like just in case there's something building up in that area that isn't visible otherwise.

In May of 2020 I went through Cape Cod Canal to Ptown captaining a 103'. In the fall of 2020 my boss / owner received a letter from N.O.A.A. that had all of our vessel information, including a map that showed our vessel's track from the canal to Ptown and our speed. We were running 10 knots across the bay that day. The letter stated that we received a grade of "A" transiting the bay on a scale from A+ to F. I was aware of the Right Whale Zone in the Gulf of St. Lawrence at the time, but didn't know at that time the area between in Cape Cod Bay was restricted too. There needs to be more awareness of these restrictions and I feel the onus is on the government to get the word out if they're going to enforce these rules.
