SAT April 2018 Reading (Passages 1 - 3)
Shout out to the parking attendant. Could have just thought this kids crazy and blew him off or called the cops. Saw this kid needed to talk to someone and helped him with compassion
Father used to run a junkyard in the outskirts of LA in the late 70's, I heard he had some trouble with this kid Artie something or other
I like Father Cavanagh's chuckle from "you not serious"....to his "this guy means business" look!!! Wish he was at Rudys game!!
I Love ❤ Rudy!
Rudy is a wholly unlikeable character; self-absorbed and self-centered. He doesn't care about anyone, or anything, except Notre Dame and Notre Dame football, and it's actually really sad to watch everyone else enable him throughout the movie. He didn't care about studying in HS, until he's told he can't go on a ND campus tour just to gawk over the football team. Someone does him a favor to get him into junior college - but he doesn't care about the education he receives there, because all he cares about is transferring to Notre Dame. He even says it in the movie, that since Notre Dame doesn't accept senior transfers, it's all been for nothing if he doesn't get in as a junior. Someone offers to tutor him to help him keep his grades up - and when this so-called friend is moving across the country, on his last day there, does he focus on the friend? No, he's too busy pouting in his room because Notre Dame has a new football coach and what about the promise the old coach made to him? He gets a job he's not qualified for to help him pay for it, and his boss lets him sleep there for free (which he doesn't have to do). And after all that, after everything everyone has done to help him get into the University of Notre Dame - because unlike Rudy, they know it is actually a University, not just a football team - this is his way of saying thanks. "I didn't get to play football, so who cares about the rest of it?"
His woman leaving him is typical. Women never have your back.
Exactly she played him for his brother
Well there was a little more to the story then that. She wanted to buy a house and settle down and the guy wanted to go chase his dream. She told him that she was not going. How she ended up with the guys brother is a foul ball but nonetheless she just wanted something different then he wanted.
Have you applied?
Shoulda had one line where the players are saying something like "Isn't it fun flattening that puny squirt?" and then someone replies "yeah but look how he pops back up"
Recorded on a grain of corn powered by an oil can found from early settlers of missouri
How many times a second can Rudy mention Norte Dame and Norte Dame Football?
Rudy had a heart but that's all he had. He didn't have skill he didn't have strength he didn't have fortitude. It was a joke Joe Montana was on that team he said they chanted Rudy as a joke at that game
💪🏋️♂️it's all about heart and fire
whole stream was mute.
Thank you. We're looking into this and trying to understand what went wrong. During the live broadcast, everything was working just fine.
This scene is Rudy's awakening as he listens to Fr Cavanaugh's offer. The look on his face at the end of the scene is one of belief; it's the first time he believes he can actually make into Notre Dame if we works hard. He's ready for the challenge. Nobody had ever made it sound possible, but somehow Fr. Cavanaugh's words make the difference. Fantastic scene.
So you want to walk on at a big time football school? This is the experience 99% of you can expect. .0001% will be the starting QB at a national champion UGA.
So many great scenes in this movie its hard to pick the best, but probably no other scene combines humor and emotion as this one scene. A scene that can make you laugh and then the next moment pull at your heartstrings.....now that is incredible screenwriting and excellent delivery by the actors!😊
I love watching this scene and thinking that the coach might have been looking at this kid going "who the hell is this???", but then within a few years he finds out who he really was and what he was capable of. Love it !!!!
My aunt was a college educator for 22 years. She used to always say how interesting it was to see young adults trying to figure things out as they went through college. For some it was just an expectation to succeed, come to college and go out to the real world, for some others it was an absolute pure path of just trying to make a better life for themselves...in a world that no one in their family really knew about. She used to say those were the ones she loved dealing with, the first timers, because their success could help springboard that whole family, or future generations. Make the experience positive, that's education, learn something with your time at University. He may be a big time coach, at the biggest program in the country, but he takes time to actually listen to Rudy's story and tries to set him on a good path, maybe the crazy kid has what it takes to do what he says, wouldn't that be something? ha ha
Don't cancel your appointment with him. His schedule is booked for months. Oops, thinking of another 90s movie with the 'Mork' guy that the actor playing the priest was in.
Thanks for trying but this thing is terrible.
This video hurt to watch
Ara Parseghian was like God to Rudy
Escape into the cloth?
Awful 😖
𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖔𝖘𝖒
shit just shit vid
Is this a PowerPoint presentation? My dad use to try and get me to watch them back some time ago.
You should know that your comment made me laugh so hard that I spilled my Diet Coke. You owe me one diet coke.
Shittiest video quality of all time. Congrats
Get rid of this and upload one that isn't as glitchy as the spice channel in 1999
Honestly the actor playing Ara Parseghian doesn't look like Parseghian at all. He looks more like Joe Paterno in this movie clip.
Where'd you get sound, out of a tin can?
Look at the young VINCE VAUGHN
If I ever want to experience lag I’ll come back to this vid, thanks 🙄
For anyone looking to make their way in the world
There’s no shortcuts to greatness
I like how Father Cavanaugh might have had his doubts about Rudy at first but never gave up and stayed in Rudy's corner as a mentor through the entire journey.
I also like how the character of Father Cavanaugh shows that sometimes all someone needs is one chance or one person to believe in them and that can change everything.
Thank you!

My whole life, people have been telling me what I could do and what I couldn't do. I've always listened to them, believed in what they said. I don't want to do that anymore." That's powerful shit.
I can totally empathize with him on that. I was always told I couldn't do math very well and when I started out in Community College, I had to started out with Elementary algebra and got nothing but a C average. I'm in Calc I for the 4th time now and just got my first A in my entire mathematical school year going for my AAS degree in Arts and Science, hoping to advance to a university for a mechanical engineering degree and position
@@geoffwilliams4478how did it go dude?
Very powerful. He developed the right mindset.
Does Coach Parseghian know about it -Rudy.
