I lived in Longueuil for two years in the 1970s. I loved it! It was wonderfully walkable. The neighborhoods were beautiful. The bus and Metro were great. It may have changed in the last 50 years, so I am not qualified to have an opinion about how it is today, but I loved it back then!

@@gablaflammepro Since my Longueuil/Montreal years, I have lived the vast majority of my life in Phoenix. Interesting fact: Montreal (metro and city proper) is almost identical in population to Phoenix - yet we have almost nothing to show for it down here and Montreal puts Phoenix to shame in every category except winter weather. I look around me down here and I ask myself, "How was all that possible in Montreal and not Phoenix? Why can't we have nice stuff like they do up there?" You might wonder why I was living up there in the first place. I wasn't exactly up there living the life of a normal Quebeois. I was in a Catholic religious order that had a house in Longueuil and I was studying at Concordia (Loyola campus). After two years, I discovered that poverty, chastity, and obedience were not how I wanted to spend the rest of my life, so I left the religious life and returned to Phoenix. I have not been many places, but Montreal is still the very best city I've seen and experienced - and I can't imagine a better city. It is nothing short of amazing. It was (and is, if UA-cam is to be believed) in fact, jaw-dropping. You have a great weekend, too!

☆LONGUEUIL IS A RSCIST DUMP☆ If you're an immigrant coming into Canada or anyone for that matter and thinking of settling into Longueuil think again. The rent might be more affordable than Montréal but to get to know Montréal from this totally hard-core Quebecois filled hell hole is brutal. Yes as he explains the first thing that's a huge con is that you are so close to the magic of Montréal but getting there is hell no matter how you slice it. You can see the city just a small bridge's distance away, but it's almost like a cruel joke. The separate bus system is twice the price and not only do you have to pay for that to then use the Montréal transport system, well you have to pay for that too. Let's say you need to take the bus into the city for work, you still need a car to get there. There are large bus terminals that require either a lift or you have to leave your car in the parking lot. In the winter it's an absolute bitch. So no matter how you look at it transport is not simple or more affordable it's just as bad, actually in many ways far worse. If you rent the longer you stay out there the higher the rents will be when you finally decide that you've had enough. If you want to buy, that's a different story however it is NOT a pretty place to live. A huge portion of it js just old ugly 70s and 80s dirty apartment buildings and bungalows. There is a large homless population there, with a lot of single mothers, down and out elderly people and welfare cases. So to spend 570,000$ on an 80s bungalow with no curb appeal, there are other options. If you have the 1.1 million dollars for a more luxurious home, you might get more bang for your buck, but that goes 6 anywhere that far away from the island of montreal. The first pros were the first cons. The location sucks no matter how you look at it. There is absolutely nothing there. There is a bike path in any municipality, so big deal, a bike path, wow. No matter what is said in this video that has any kind positive swing to it is that it's in Montréal, that once again very difficult to get to, so it's just a hassle. Don't be fooled, weekend traffic is inevitable and just as bad no matter what bridge you take. I lived on the other side of the south shore in Ste. Catherine and it is by far cleaner and more attractive. At the same time, the bridge there comes with the same amount of traffic and the same bus hassle. There is absolutely nothing there, but *LE 10X30* (pronounced the ten thirty) in BROSSARD. Great shopping outlets, nightlife, cinima lots of eateries, it has EVERYTHING! (and the people are SEXY!) So back towards downtown on the other side known as "La Coupe Longueuil" meaning a "Redneck's Mullet". No matter how you deduce it there is absolutely no sense of community and and Longueuil is an absolute dump. Do not even bother. Plenty of adjacent burrows that are a far better place to live. I am a retired master sales realestate agent that has lived in and around Montréal for 50 years. I'm also familiar with the cottage life and downhill skiing anywhere from 45 minutes all way to 3 hours in a complete circle from Montreal. So believe me when I say that Longueuil is not even worth a look, use your time wisely and stay safe!

@@gablaflammepro There are certainly some similarities. There are some very affluent suburbs, less desirable areas, and historic neighborhoods. Quality of life varies in the DC metro area, but I’d say that it is must better in Longueuil and the wider South Shore area. I was in Boucherville last week, and I couldn’t believe how much it had changed since my last visit. I also got to experience traffic in the tunnel; that was brutal! LOL

HI, I enjoyed your presentation on living in Repentigny, Quebec. My husband’s family lives there, So, I have been visiting it since my youth. It is amazing the changes that I have witnessed… I began seeing him in 1990 and made a trip there from Ottawa (where my family lives). I am now 55, so I’d have been able to visit it many, many times. I even lived in Montreal for a while (in Ahuntsik) and commuted to McGill every day by car. After having lived in many places over our lifetimes, we have decided that Repentigny is not for us. For the following reasons… 1) you can always hear the highway from the centre of town 2) we find the driving to be not that great… maybe it is because we are always driving to his parents house which is not that far from Rive Nord… and it just feels like the city planners have done a poor job in their planning because we have to intricately cut through the shopping centre to get to his house… and 3) there is a new cultural centre, which is very beautiful, but there are no interesting plays to see and nowhere to go to dinner first. Commuting for these small pleasures, especially at 55 should not be necessary… there are no movie theatres in Repentigny either, big faux pas and no hotels. Maybe one day it will meet (my personal requirements) but it is not there quite yet. For these reasons, we have decided not to retire in Repentigny. I am also anglophone, so that doesn’t help either. However, Repentigny has become, over the years a beautiful place to visit. We love our trips to go see and see Grandpapa (recently widowed). We now live in Libertyville, Illinois, U.S.A.

I am from Montreal and been living in Longueuil for a few years. Really getting priced out of MTL. I have to say I really enjoy my street in the old Longueuil , it’s peaceful but I absolutely hate the food scene. I’m not a snob about food but restaurants here have horrible service compared to Montreal. It’s the #1 thing I miss the most. Restaurants constantly do mistakes in my orders to a point where it’s mind boggling and constant… With that said, I do have to shoutout the good places I do love in the area. Shoutout to Pizza Metro, the best restaurant I’ve found here. The people working there are lovely and attentionate, the food is delicious and it’s hard to find a good pizza in the area (idk why it’s so hard!) I especially recommend their spaghetti, portions are big and tasty filling lots of leftovers. They also are really fast. It’s my number 1. There’s Grillades Torino with the BEST grilled chicken and Mon Ami for delicious korean food. Also recommend Tayio for sushi & more. Noobox for stir fry (you build it yourself and they are allergy friendly, great place but a bit pricey) and Blue Bar Desserts for desserts (the ladies are soooo nice and always add extras like candy or even donuts in my orders with smileys without me asking. Very sweet). I also love Chez LouLou Crème Glacée for ice cream, it’s the best tasting ice cream I’ve ever had.

I love Laval. Nobody bothers you in the street like they did in Montreal. I used to live in Cartierville across the river.

Moved from Montreal to Repentigny, it is a gost city. Even day time you can't find people outside, after 8 pm, all lights are off and looks like you are in a horror movie. Culture is different here, almost zero communication, nobody invites each other to their houses, if you speak English, you are famous, nothing fun, no single kid playground in the area..unless you are coming from Montreal, forget about having fun, go bed at 8 pm and go to the work at 6 am, that is your life

You have touched on an important point, it is a pretty quiet Town; to be entertained, you have to go to Montreal. Other than that Repentigny is a quiet and safe City, would you agree? Thanks for you comment
