This was the first time I saw anyone actually including more then one snippet from her book. Reading through it myself was absolutely fascinating because of how much in common she had with modern medical influencers, and how much our time is, unfortunately, similar in cases of medical misinformation, neglect and negative influence of individuals and companies that knowingly, under fraudulent claims sold and still selling their products to people in need of medical attention and help. Thank you for keeping her story alive. <3

Thank you, my mum has paroxysmal AF. She will much prefer the "pill in pocket" approach. Much better for her then taking anti-coagulants all the time. I wonder if you can take them same time as a beta blocker when a symptomatic episode occurs ?

I had my first Ablation 10 yrs ago. Unfortunately a new area is now causing A-Fib again. My option at 71 Way another surgery or medication. For right now, I’m doing medication. I have now diabetes, and and 30 lbs overweight. So for right now will give Pill in a Pocket a chance. But, in six weeks when I see my cardiologist we will make decision. My only real concern is when I had Cancer 15 yrs ago, I got a giant blood clot from my port up my neck. So fingers crossed. Hope I don’t have to to have surgery again. Medications: Eliquis , Carvedilol, and Losartan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 oh and Pill in the Pocket, in case of attack!

Had my first AF episode a few motnsh ago. Low heart rate. Irregular. Successfully cardioverted. Take betas for precautionary reasons. Trying to figure out what device to get. Worried about vague readings or false positives. Have white cot hypertension pretty bad. Have a GERD relationship with the Afib -- caused by a cold drink that got stuck in esophagus and take a PPI.

Have you heard of Zelda's Chicago-style zpizza? It's up here in Sacramento California at 1415 21st street. It's been rumored that the same owners of the former Linda's Pizza up here in Citrus Heights, California owned Zelda's Chicago-style Pizza in Downtown/Midtown sacramento. Turns out, that the Linda's Chicago-style pizza, with two former locations, at 7800 Greenback Lane here in Citrus Heights closed, due to leasing issues. And that the other location up in Loomis California at 5911 King Road, also closed. The Citrus Heights locations were owned by Londa Ellington, that who had notable family ties. Being Italian/Scicilian myself, I will tell you that those families are offten extended. So that while it's possible that she's from the same family as Zelda Breslin, owner of Zelda's Chicago-style Pizza, that they have two different names. I don't know if one of them is maried and that the other is not, or vice versa. Having been to both places and after hearing you talk about the history of Chicago-style pizzarias, I found out why I didn't like the pizza, as I found the sauce to not have much of a flavor and very sloppy. Perhaps I should have asked for light sauce and more cheese. Also, do you have to eat the entire crust? I found the outside of the crust, that which if I remember right, was all rock hard, crimped and fluted to look like jewels on a crown. Perhaps that the sauce could use improvement and I would get more cheese, along with everything else, but really light on the sauce. Once again, that the only pizzaria of this type is at 1415 21st Street in Downtown/Midtown Sacramento remains. I went to there website: zeldasgourmet pizza.com. And that you're welcome to look at the website as well. I was just really curious about the history of Chicago-style pizzarias and that whether the two different restaurants where I live closed down or not. I clicked on their About Us button on the website for Zelda's Chicago-style Pizzaria and could not get that tab on the navigation menu to open up. I think her son now runs it, based on what I heard on a program on our Fox-affiliate here. KTXL FOX40. They were featured on Studio40. But other than that, I don't have any other history, other than Zelda's son, that who's name, I think is Joe owns and runs it now. And Zelda Breslin herself passed away back in 2006. But it would not be until 8 years later, that when I would go and try it for the first time, as I thought each time I went in, it would be better. Now, I think I know what to ask for, even though, I'm not used to eating pizza with a fork and knife. This is pizza. Not apple pie or pumpkin pie. This took place, because someone from the South, that who was not very smart, when it came to pizza decided with his partner to have people cut their pizza and eat it with a fork and knife. Sorry to be so crass and critical.

jay klemme--NUMS class of '78. Re Chicago Memorial Hospital: My mom, born 1917, was pharmacy helper in her 20s, including during WWII. It was she who realized and "blew the whstle" on leak into black market from that hospital's pharmacy chief (to a commercial downtwon pharmacy owner) of Winthrop pharmaceutical's radiopaque agent for GI studies (I'm blanking on its name). That product was rationed because needed by military during the war--was to be ONLY for hospitals, stateside....This also ties in with the teaching example, apparently taught in business schools ever since: Winthrop had just lost all 4 of its top executives to a domestic (not war-related) plane crash, so the Winthrop CEO had been mom's drug rep at Chicago Memorial. (As I heard this story, the pharmacy chief, also a woman, enjoyed her prestige as chief but left operations to my mom.
