❄️🦎 Falling Iguana Interview South Florida
We were recently interviewed by @NBC6SouthFlorida to discuss falling iguanas. In South Florida when the tempatures drop, so do the iguanas. It’s News that is somewhat popular as many people are unaware of this phenomenon. But there are risks to be aware of as falling iguanas can be dangerous.
When temperatures dip below 50° iguanas become immobilized and begin to loose grip from tree branches. Reaching lengths of 6’ and weighing up to 25lbs, these reptiles can cause some damage. People walking in parks should also be cautious and not walk under trees. It’s also highly advised to not bring these reptiles inside to warm up as they will be very much alive when they warm up.
Humane Iguana Control provide iguana removal services for fallen iguanas, it’s advised not to pick up iguanas yourself if you do not have the experience. To learn more about Falling iguanas and what preventive measures you can take, visit us online or give us a call.

🦎❄️ Falling Iguanas Interview With Weather Nation
man... i want that job...
It’s a great time to control their numbers a bit. They’re everywhere down there especially around The canals
This is correct!!! 👍
Free food? they make good immitation frog legs ive heard
Some people actually do go out and look for them to consume.
Nice choice of beat 👍
Thank you 🙌
DAMNIT MAN WHAT DID U FEED HIM FOR LUNCH ?😮😅😅😅😅
Excellent snare!
Thank you! Luckily we were able to navigate through the chairs and table. Thanks for the feedback!
What kill method is used after capture.
What bait do you use?
Pretty much any colorful fruit, watermelon, orange, mango etc work well.
What do you do with the iguanas when you remove them? I know it is illegal to relocate them in Florida.
That’s correct, since they are a non native species they cannot be relocated. The iguanas we catch are used by crabbers but the ones that consume plants around homes which contain pesticides are disposed of properly.
@@humaneiguanacontrol can you reply to my message i want to talk about iguana i am vietnamese
keeping spreading the miss information the iguanas came from pet owners and not breeding populations from breeding facilities.
Could you resend your message? Not understanding, thank you.
I’m in central Florida.. right between Orlando and Tampa. I was fishing one day and when I got out the lake I seen a 5 foot iguana eating the grass on edge of lake. I didn’t know they were here. It was strange. Because he didn’t run or hide he just kept feeding while I walk by.
Yea there have been sightings in that area, some iguanas are used to people or it could of been one that escaped from an enclosure.
Controlling invasive species is very important! (Unrelated but 305 is the area code for Miami Florida and 303 is the area code for Denver Colorado, about to do a deep dive and figure out how/when each area got its code lol)
Yes it is very important, good to know about the area codes 👍
Free food
I get excited when I see an iguana in my yard, it means good eating!!
Lol
What do you do with the Iguanas when you catch them in traps? It is illegal to relocate them in the USA.
An iguana in a tree bothers you? My step mother had a beautiful tree chopped down all because she didn’t like the sound of the woodpecker. I’ve never looked her the same since.
Hey there, this iguana in particular would poop from the tree into the pool and was also come down and poop around the pool. A couple of times it would climb a palm tree to get on her roof. So there were a couple of issues but I appreciate your feedback.
You know, some cultures eat these. These and pythons might save Miami when SHTF.
Hi there, yes this is true there’s actually a bunch of people that eat iguanas in Florida.
That’s a monster 😮
Yes it is lol, thanks for watching 🙌
These things are harmless and look cool. The poop argument is weak because ducks shit everywhere and nobody cares
Hey there Deepharrow8520, iguana poop is only one of the issues when you have iguanas roaming around your property. Burrowing is a much bigger problem ( look up dam collapse due to burrowing costing west Palm beach 1.8 million dollars in repairs. And this also happens around homes, we have seen sea walls collapse due to burrowing. Impact to native wildlife is another issue since iguanas outcompete our native species. Not sure who doesn’t care about duck poop as there are a ton of forums with people complaining about this. Now, we have noting against iguanas they are actually very cool, but we need to do our part on conserving and protecting our ecosystem. Same as people removing Burmese pythons from the Everglades and lion fish from the ocean in the Florida region. If you would like more info on this topic shoot me an email. Thank you,
Never been this early
Early?
Cool
Thank you!
Hello... you should check out the Gamo break barrel 22cal Viper Express. Good for shooting small targets at close range. Big time saver for ya.The shot gun shells can be re-load.
Great feedback! Thanks, some properties do not allow that method so we have to take the slower route lol.
good video but need to normalize the volume levels, your speech is too low
Hey thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
Iguana egg drop soup yummm!!!!
Lol
Are they having a large environmental impact.
Hey there, they actually do impact the environment. 1) They cause plant damage and eat native plants which our native species depend on to survive. 2) Iguanas cause structural damages due to burrowing ( look up 1.8 million dollar damage west palm beach iguana burrowing) 3) Iguanas defecate frequently in pools and public areas which can cause illness to humans and pets due to possible salmonella poisoning. 4) It’s been documented that some iguanas mostly black spiny tail feed on native animals and their eggs. And much more…… If you would like to learn more, send me an email and thank you for the feedback hope you enjoy our channel! Take care,
@@humaneiguanacontrol That's terrible!
@@ainnochaim9450It really is, it’s not the iguanas fault that they are here but we have to help our ecosystem.
🤢
Exactly!
I live in Florida, there are literally signs that say watch out for falling iguanas from trees in the park in the winter time here, LoL
Really? I have never seen that sign down here in Miami. Thanks for the message! 👍
LoL, Iguana fishing 🤣
Wow, love watching why i don't know.
Thank you 🙏
Wow that's a lot! Are you going to dispatch baby iguanas?
Unfortunately they have to be dispatched due to the fact that it is illegal to relocate them.
@@humaneiguanacontrol Yes, it's true. It could get worse if relocated and could ruin Florida s native plants and bugs.
Thank you for the positive feedback 🙌
@@humaneiguanacontrolwelcome 😊
well that was one chill possum for being grabbed and moved around.
It was playing possum 🤣
"Mr.", your rate of speech is too fast for North Americans to clearly catch.
I appreciate the feedback! 👍
Poop
I unsubscribed, for I wanted to see how you caught these iguanas. But, I am getting bored and tired about hearing and seeing your constant promotional speech, and that people should use your services.
Hi there, I appreciate your feedback and will definitely acknowledge your opinion to better our UA-cam channel. I am also sorry to hear that you unsubscribed. Which part did you not see the iguanas caught? Thank you
He was world class break dancers in his past life
👍👍👍👍
😮
Im assuming you will freeze them to kill em, my question is where does on dispose of them?
After being euthanized, wild caught iguanas are utilized by crabbers. Iguanas from urban areas are loaded with pesticides from consuming sprayed vegetation, these iguanas are responsibly disposed of to prevent human exposure to pesticides.
@@humaneiguanacontrol that is an excellent idea on what to do with them
Looks like iguana man has some competition
In puerto rico they eat frogs, birds, egg birds.
Wow, which species of iguana ?
So you trapped it, now what?
Hi Greg, unfortunately we had an issue with our video and it did not capture the removal of iguanas from the trap.
Leave the iguanas alone . They are amazing an dont causs much harm at all .
Amazing they are, but they are destructive. I can send you more information if you’re interested.,
jus korn
Jus korn?
Do they mess with solar. Only pondering cuz I’ve seen squirrel, bird, raccoon, rat mice stuff.
They can possibly damage or cause issues to solar panels on roofs. - Their sharp nails can damage the panel's surface. - Excess droppings can obstruct sunlight. - During winter months, iguanas can fall from trees, potentially damaging the panels. - Depending on the panel quality, iguana urine/droppings, which is acidic, can cause corrosion. - If wires are exposed and happen to be colorful, iguanas can mistake them for a food source and chew on cables.
@@humaneiguanacontrol. I do not see them harming frames or glass but yes to leads and trunk cabling. Thank you for your reply.
I feel sorry for them do you eat them that's so mean
Hi there, no we do not eat them. It is sad, but we need to protect our native species. Thanks for the feedback.
Wow, those things can swim !,!, as well as they can climb and dig holes.
There excellent swimmer and can hold their breath for up to 20 minutes 😳. Thanks for watching, make sure you share to spread awareness.
Well, that person could’ve had over 30 baby iguanas munching up their landscape and digging burrows!!
That is correct! We were able to prevent a new infestation around this community. Thanks for watching, make sure you share to spread awareness.
Did the iguana ever show up so you could trap her? those things cause a lot of destruction?
You know it was a weird occurrence, it laid the eggs and never returned! But we were happy that we were able to remove all this eggs! Thanks for watching, make sure you share to spread awareness.
I hope you have luck in South Florida with getting rid of a lot of the iguanas. Some people think they’re cute and feel sorry for them, but they’re very destructive.
Thank you for the positive feedback! We have been very successful thus far helping out communities, schools even cemeteries 🫣. We are working on assisting areas where native animals live such as burrowing owls so they are not impacted by iguanas. Thanks for watching make sure you share to spread awareness.
@@humaneiguanacontrol definitely sharing and spreading awareness to my relatives and friends.
@@enjoystravelingI truly appreciate it, it’s important for everyone to be educated about invasive species.
Love seeing the iguanas throughout south Florida. They graze the lawns and snatch some fruit. One of the least damaging introduced species.
They really are cool reptiles! I wouldn’t say the least damaging invasive species due to damages to infrastructures and impacting endangered species such as the burrowing owl. Check out this article when you have a moment, it’s about how iguanas cost the city of West Palm Beach 1.8 million dollars due to burrowing. www.orlandosentinel.com/2020/01/21/pesky-iguanas-cost-florida-city-18-million-in-emergency-repairs/
Iguanas are definitely a very destructive !!!! species, as he already said they’re displacing some native species, such as the gopher tortoise and more!, The iguanas are not native to Florida, and they are eating peoples plants and also even destroying some of the roofs and getting in the houses and even people who have apartments and houses near the canals the iguanas are digging and destroying the ground that’s near the apartments. Iguanas also eat the ducklings eggs and when there’s iguanas in the area, you don’t see baby birds anymore!!
I agree
I disagree
Good luck with your new channel.
Thank you 👍👍👍
Hello. Iguana tacos , when their time comes. 🙏
Hey @Herbyshanz, some people do but we are just here to help residents and the ecosystem. 🙌
