    15:25 - That's a very strong mixture. The Ranger Pro product is 41% glyphosate. You would only have needed to add 4.5 oz for a 2 gals mixture. You also added far too much surfactant.

      You are right. When my daughter married, mom put in sprigs of ivy for the greenery. I left the arrangement outside to enjoy for a while and apparently it took root spreading everywhere in the backyard. That was about 25 years ago and I am still fighting it. Thankful for this video. I will definitely do this. Thanks

    @amieb823 This is the best advice I've seen, and thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry to learn that your Grandfather has passed. As he said, I bought 12 sprigs about 25 years ago and now I'm totally invaded!! I have removed a lot from the trees, just the way he showed. I figured that out myself, but I hesitated to use anything like Roundup. I simply won't. The information he shared about the glyphosate becoming inert when it hits the dirt was a nugget of information I had never heard before. Thank you again and if you can, keep up you and your Granddads' good help to those of us who are ignorant. 😀

    Just a word of advice from a guy who uses sprayers all the time: put your water in first. Even if you aren't adding additional surfactant, most Roundup/ Ortho (and other pesticides/ herbicides products) include it. It will bubble up like crazy, even when filling slowly. Then you get that nasty foam overflow. All avoided by adding water first, then product, then mix well by teetering the sprayer container and/ or rolling it for several seconds. Bob's your uncle.

    Glyphosate is bad for tree roots. Never should be used. Spray ivy in the fall with vinegar and bark penetrating surfactant . The ivy will have no leaves all winter which will cause the roots to die.

    Remove EVERY sprig from your property!! (The same goes for bamboo!!!) There is a way to kill this crap, naturally. I am trying to find the ingredients. I am pretty sure it involves salt, vinegar and Dawn dish detergent on each end of a severed Ivy trunk and the part that goes to the root system. Cap each end with a glob of the mixture then cover each end with a piece of heavy duty aluminum foil and use duct tape to seal the edges of the foil to the severed ends of the Ivy. I have seen the results of Monsanto being sprayed, which is ultimately being done here. A respiratorshpuld be used while spraying. Liver cancer that no doctor wanted to deal with because of his exposure as a supervisor of grounds maintenance for the county cause a long, slow, painful death. Monsanto is a horrible monolith corporation. The produce the products that kill the plants, like dandelion among others. Dandelion has multiple good uses including as a heart and cardiovascular treatment. Guess who owns the biggest part of the market for cardiac medications, Monsanto. There is no way I would SPRAY their chemicals or let them touch my skin! My back yard and trees are covered in Ivy and this year it is going to be a battle, but we are going to kill it naturally.

    Hi there, I appreciate your video, and thank you for such. I was looking for a way to say bye bye to the ivy and felt sorry for myself in having it, but then saw how much you were dealing with and now feel rather foolish but we all know how very invasive it is and having this against brickwork it is damaging the bricks, so if you please know of how to deal with this please let me know. I will greatly appreciate the help, however would like to use less chemicals if at all possible as I have pets to think of and the invasive ivy is at close quarters to living area, just off the patio bricks and also on another part of living area. Stay safe and best wishes to you. Maureen from England/UK

    I am battling a bunch of this ivy that came from the neighbors yard. I have been using a product called Brush Killer from Lowe's. Seems to slowly be working to kill it. It is also under my trees which are 30 giant arborvitae 20 ft tall and packed together. I will have to try and rip it out of there as I don't want to kill the trees. What a nuisance this ivy is!!!

    Never use epsom salt. Epsom salt is not a "TRUE SALT". It is used as a fertilizer in gardens and other situations.

    • @drusillawinters212
      @drusillawinters212 Рік тому

      I don't know what you think a true salt is, but magnesium sulfate i.e. epsom salt is a salt to any chemist. It should not be used as fertilizer. You have gotten bad advice from someone. You can use it to soak sore feet, but that is about all it is good for.

    • @joyces2222

      The minerals are the fertilizer referred to. Over salting might be an issue, check on amounts used. It is great for many plants.

My neighbor bought their home from someone who thought Chinese Wisteria and Enlish Ivy were perfect to use as a border between our yards. Unfortunately they are out of control and I'm doing the control measures...with their blessing thankfully.
