I miss seeing these two divas play. Say what you Will but Serena and JJ were the divas of the WTA. No two ever loved being on court being watched and having a great time. JJ had 3-2 head to head against her and I think a 6-2 head to head against Venus. But JJ had no offense. So when she got slower she didn’t have the weapon anymore

People can watch this years later and will never know the true extent of how Serena was completely written off back in 2006/2007. She was mocked by nearly everyone, from her attitude to her game style to her weight. She'd come off of playing 6 or so matches the year prior and then losing to Sybille Bammer in Hobart just prior to the AO. She was honestly never considered a legitimate tennis player, never mind a threat. The fact she came into the AO ranked 81 in the world (with no belief from anyone) and won is a testament to her mental strength- and, in my opinion, the mentally strongest tennis player the game has ever seen.

Serena father and coach Richard Williams said one of the reason Serena would go on to be a better player than Venus is because she understand angles better. I can see that in this match. Some of the angles she play to move Ana around was spectacular. A great match by both. Ana did pushed Serena in 2014.

Ivana broke Serena’s serve one too many times in the final set. Pissed her off to the point where Serena said I refuse to let you hold & then she saved her best serving for the final game.
