Building a Wood TOY Excavator
A fun and challenging DIY woodworking project is shared, showcasing the construction of a wooden excavator or digger toy with moving parts. I built this as a homemade christmas toy for my girls. It goes along with prior builds including a toy truck, trailer, boat, and helicopter. Video links below. I start with an idea and some scrap wood and turn it into a moving wheeled excavator with wheels, rotating, cab, and moving bucket arm.

Can a DIY Cyclone Shop Vac Cart beat a Budget Dust Extractor?

I have wanted to upgrade my DIY Cyclone Shop Vac Cart for a few years now. It was a significant upgrade for my work shop when woodworking and a general workhorse in my shop. I use it for dustless sanding, connecting to tools like my Makita track saw and Ryobi router. It also vacuums cars, boats, and the shop floor regularly. It is a 12 gallon 6hp Craftsman Shop Vac paired with an Oneida cyclone...
Best VALUE 12” Sliding Miter Saw? METABO HPT

Through that process, some fine tuning was needed, and some watchouts for anyone looking to purchase a 12” sliding miter saw. No specific plans, but I think you could make your own using the video as a guide. 1/4-20 thumb screws and tee nuts. 2-3" hole saw then improvise. I also grabbed a little person toy to make the cab size since my girls play with those.

Yeah, I agree. If a little lubrication can fix it, it will make a nice set. If I need stiffer springs, then it will probably make it have more back drag which won't be good.

ATF is not really a good lubricant for ratchets, automatic transmissions have clutches that need to find traction, so ATF is not super slippery. That Tri-Flow will work better. I like to use Superlube on my ratchets, grease for low tooth count ratchets or Superlube oil for for high tooth count ratchets, I've also had good luck with Permatex assembly lube.
