Painting a beach and water in acrylics
This is a simple video showing some of my process of painting a beach scene and water while in Key Largo, Florida. This was painted for the Ocean Reef Paintout and it measures 12x24.

Bellissimo 😮😮😮❤
thanks so much!
Beautiful! So looking forward to the workshop. I was able to get out and paint today. The day was gorgeous. I had changed some things in my pack. I am going to change them back. I learned so much. Can't wait to try again.
That's great!
Oh wow I love your technique!!
Thank you so much!
Your work is amazingly beautiful. So realistic. Thank you for sharing the view from your perspective. Much Love from Malaysia.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Much love from the USA!
Please keep these coming
I’ll do my best to!
Beautiful painting 🌊 ⛱️
Thanks so much!
Nice work, does the salt water have any adverse affects when is dries?
Thank you! No, as the water evaporates, the acrylic polymer holds everything in a sealed bond.
@@jeremysamsart Cool I was just wondering if the minerals in the water did anything cool when it evaporated? I was thinking for example when you add salt to a watercolor painting for effect.
Yeah, nah it doesn't do any cool effects...would be interesting though!
Wow that's so realistic
Thanks so much!
Damn thats so good!
I appreciate that!
Dang, bro, you are talented! Keep up the work!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
U are sooo good !
Thanks so much! I still have much to learn!
Inspiring! Your commentary is wonderful. Thank you
Thanks so much! I hope it helps!
Beautiful! How did you keep your paints from drying out?
Thank you! I usually only put out enough paint that I will actually use and try to work fast. If there is left over paint, I will cover the palette area with a plastic lid. The Golden Open paints will last a long time uncovered.
Absolutely stunning ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! I’m glad you like it!
Its a cool painting, it may help to lower the volume of the music though. Its overwhelming
Thank you and thanks for the suggestion!
Beautiful work 😊
Thanks so much!
Your an amazing artist ur work is absolutely breathtaking. Good for you love
Thanks so much!
This is absolutely gorgeous. Your work is unreal.
Thanks so much Jon! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You are such a blessing. I actually cried while I was watching this. It’s just so beautiful and I love the way that you only use the primary colors mostly and titanium white. Can you tell me the location of where you did this? Thanks again. You are simply amazing.😊😊😊❤❤❤ Oh, by the way, your voice is so relaxing kind of reminds me of Bob Ross happy little trees Yeah, I’m simply astounded. How you record the scene while you’re painting good show.
Thanks so much! This is a little stream behind my home in Archdale.
Thanks brother, beautiful work, love it.🙏🏻
thanks so much!
I have been looking to learn how to paint snow on this video came just in the nick of time however I don't understand how you could withstand painting with your bare hands out in the cold
I’m glad you found it! Ironically, it wasn’t that cold that morning. The ice on the trees was melting so fast, but about the time I was finishing up, the temps dropped lol
@jeremysamsart thanks for responding 😊 I spent a couple days trying to do Plein Air paintings in Virginia Beach and it was around 30° weather so I gave up within 30 minutes of getting started 😂 my hands hurt too much
@ I totally understand!
Where is this?
This is in a little forest area of Archdale, NC.
Fantastic!
Thanks so much!
Love your style.
I appreciate that!
Love the glow.
Thank you!
Just beautiful Jeremy.
Thanks so much!
i just want to know ..what socks did you wear?? ha! i love watching you paint and how you overcome the underpainting stage (which, although oils dry slower, they move faster through the 'ugly' underpainting stage)...watching you reach your finale is great1 thanks.
Ha! I had on 1 thick pair and then a regular pair of socks. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! I so enjoyed the atmosphere and the process. Pretty soothing. And as always, great work!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much for sharing your process. The scene is beautiful. What brand easel do you use and do you like it?
Thanks so much! I use the daytripper easel from prolificpainter. I love it! It’s lightweight but very durable.
Thanks. I was looking at that one along with one from another company. Did yours come with that great tray?
@ yes, it came as a complete unit
You captured that scene well and made a worthy painting. I like sitting on my cosy couch watching other artists paint in the cold. haha
Ha! I appreciate the feedback! Stay warm and dry!
Great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, please! More like this concise plein air painting without all the fluff. Loved hearing just the babble of the brook :)
Thank you for the feedback! I’ll do my best to get out some concise material! Let me know if you have suggestions!
Great work Jeremy! I am amazed at your skill and talent. Blessings to you in the New Year!
I'm glad you liked it! Happy New Year!
Learned or relearned some core ideas just watching you paint. It's easy to get to tight and overthink. Thank you
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Great painting to start the new year. Painting water in a landscape is the hardest part, but you did it beautifully. Thank you for taking us along.
I appreciate that! Thanks so much for your kind words!
Wow that crazy ❤❤
Thank you!
this is beautiful... i love seeing every stroke bring it to life. Especially when it looked... decidedly not like a river in the beginning! Trust the process indeed
Thanks so much! Yeah it’s typically a process from chaos to order…same goes for life lol
well done. 👏💖
Thanks so much!
My god thats beautiful, always wanted to draw a scenery like that, never found the confidence in finishing it.
You can do it! Hang in there!
@@jeremysamsart Thanks sooner or later I will! 🤝
Wow!
Thank you!
Love this!
Thank you!
You very well may have🖤 and I don't mean this in a angry hater way but just wanted to mention that many acrylics contain chemicals that are terrible for the environment so I was just hoping that you didn't dump it back into the river! And again it's very possible you did make sure to pack out or "LNT" but it you didn't it would be cool to do so in the future... I love the art and the nature aspect though. Really cool!!
@@holmbergaudio I think you're misinformed
Yeah I don’t dump my used water in the river. I have an evaporation and recycle system that I use. Thanks for your feedback!
@@holmbergaudio linseed oil by itself is one thing but any time you add the mediums and solvents you've just introduced a whole other major level of toxicity that is much more harmful than the evaporative process of the acrylic polymer. As for the toxicity of the pigments, when the acrylic dries, it encapsulates the pigment which does not happen with oil. I've witnessed MANY people switching to acrylics because the oils make them physically ill.
May I ask if the open acrylic paint was dry when you wanted to pack up or how did you carry the wet painting?
It was still a little wet. Everything packs into my backpack but I just carry the painting.
May I ask was the open acrylics dry when you wanted to pack up? Or how did you carry the wet painting?
It depends on the weather. Sometimes they’re completely dry and sometimes I carry them a little wet.
nicely done
Thank you!
I can't see your brushwork or a close-up of the painting as it develops. I can mostly see your back, and at a distance at that. If you'd like to develop a following you need to do this differently. I say this as someone who loves to watch painters paint, and who wishes you well.
Good advice
Beautiful river painting! I'm obsessed with them right now. Thank you for showing your painting of this.
Thanks so much!
Fascinating!
I'm glad you liked it!
