In this podcast, I'll be reading my paper entitled, "What We Can (And Can't) Infer About Implicit Bias From Debiasing Experiments". How To Make A Personal Website IN JUST 9 MINUTES!
I was given a university email am trying to sign in Google scholar but it keeps asking for a Gmail one it is frustrating
Hi @reemyland: I ran into this as well. A Google Scholar account does require a Google email (gmail) account. Not all .edu email addresses are managed by Gmail. So I use my personal Gmail address for my Google Scholar profile. Then I verified my .edu email from my Scholar account. Perhaps that could work for you too.
Visible :Private to public how to set
Hi there! From Google Scholar's website: "How do I make my profile public? Click the 'Edit' button next to your name, check the 'Make my profile public' box, and click 'Save'. If the 'Edit' button doesn't appear, sign in to the Google account that you used to create your profile." (Source: scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar/citations.html#setup)
Referees wrote 280 applications? How does it work?
Hi Emmanuel. I submitted 280 applications that year. My letter writers wrote just one letter that I (without being able to see the letter) attached to each application that required such letters/references - I used (and continue to use) Interfolio to handle such letters.
Lol. I put you look like NPH on another post before I say this. Actually you seem very bright. I am also a PhD on the academic job market at the moment. Your videos are helpful.
Congrats on making it to the job market! And Godspeed! Glad my experience can become useful to someone besides me.
You look like Neil Patrick Harris.
So nice and easy to make a searching tools as well as very helpful for beginning teachers.
Thanks be to the Google Scholar team!

Nice to see Neil Patrick Harris wading the waters of experimental philosophy
Nice overview! Very accessible, thanks.
Very kind. Thanks Sam!
How can I know my Google scholar profile link
I just navigate to my profile and copy the URL. When I paste into another browser's address bar (e.g., Firefox instead of Chrome) on which I am not logged-in to Google, it still works, suggesting that it will work for others as well.
how can post graduate student create google scholars account
Hi Madu. If you have publications that have been found by Google Scholar, then just create your account and choose those publications as one of the final steps.
you helped me man thnaks
Glad to hear it!
If you do not have papers yet, you cannot (honestly) create a profile. You would have to misleadingly claim authorship for someone else’s paper on Google Scholar in order to create your profile and then delete that paper from your profile after your profile is created. So you should probably just wait to make a Google Scholar profile until you have some scholarship that is recognized by Google.
Thank you so much sir for the great information
Dear admin I have no paper published right now.. but i wanted to create my profile so i can upload my papers in future using google scholar..what should i do now to complete my profile
Hi Sarmad, I am not a Google admin. I suggest looking through the setup instructions from Google: scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar/citations.html#setup
Thank you for this video. I had an interview for a tenure track position in Europe two weeks ago (law field) and still haven't heard back from them. They said they only interviewed 3 people and that they were going to tell me if they were going to do another round of interviews or if they were going to directly hire someone in about a week...
Congrats on the interview! Waiting for a reply can be really challenging, especially when the employer doesn't meet the deadline that they set.
I am getting: Your search - **** - did not match any article groups. However I have some articles, which I easily find while just searching normally through Scholar. I even tried names like "John" but still got that message... Why???
Sorry for this. You might look at the help articles about searching on Google Scholar: scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar/help.html
@@ByrdNick Thank You. The problem was that I was checking it through home and not from institute (because of home office). I hope this information helps for others :)
Thanks for sharing! I am sure that someone will benefit from you sharing this information.
Interesting how different the conventional track to academe is versus what it’s like coming out of an industry career. The considerations for my first full time faculty position (current job) were definitely more focused on my teaching and ability to build the school programs rather than my academic history. I’m curious how this difference might be expressed against some of the job market observations made at the end, and in what disciplines.
Interesting observation. I imagine that teaching focus varies by not only field, but also position (e.g., visiting assistant professor vs. assistant professor) and institution (e.g., R1 vs. small liberal arts college).
@@ByrdNick Agreed. I think the more pure academic route is essentially closed to career professionals unless they happen to have gone into a semi-academic research profession and have the necessary stockpile of publications. I struggle to identify anyone I know that comes from a significant career in industry who is now in a more conventional tenure track post.
I'm on the job market now, and this information is really very helpful! I'm often surprised at the lack of transparency in these processes, so I'm thankful that you are sharing your experiences.
Glad to hear it, Phyllis! Godspeed!
Glad you put out this information
Thanks Ramanjeet! Glad it can be useful to someone.
I have no article so what can i do
You should probably wait to make a Google Scholar account until you have articles that Google Scholar knows about.
@@ByrdNick how come my google scholar account does not show on search?
Make sure it is public. After it is public, it may take awhile for Google to update its servers and caches for it to show up in search.
very brief and useful. Many thanks
Glad it was helpful! ✌️
I have published papers in some Indian Journals but when I am Creating google Scholar account in search my papers are not coming I do not know I tried too much but still I have the Same problem if any one help me Please.
Hi Rafiqullah. The journals that Google Scholar can find depend largely upon how the journal publishes the papers. So you might want to contact the journals in which you've published to alert them about this issue so they can try to remedy it.
FOR THE PEOPLE STUCK BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO PAPER WRITTEN YET: just select one from that is not yours, create your profile, and them exclude the one you choosed. You now have a profile with no paper
Very cool. Thanks for the tutorial, Nick!
My pleasure!
I have done a mistake. While selecting the Authors name I had also selected my co authors name.So as a result in the final profile all my co-authors papers are also there. So how can I change the setting?
Hi, Priyankamoni. Sorry to hear about the difficulty. I don’t know how to fix it, but Google Scholar may be able to help you: scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar/about.html

can I make google scholar account without paper
Yes. You can make a Google Scholar account even if you do not have papers to add to the account. :)
@@ByrdNick How can do it? Without any paper?
Samrat Dutta The video explains how to do it. You do not need to have a paper to do it. Although if you will not have a paper published in a journal for a long time, then there is not reason to make a profile.
@@ByrdNick man, I am stuck on the step of selecting the paper. There is no skip option. Actually I have a published paper but it is not indexed. So I am really stuck.
Samrat Dutta Sorry to hear that. I think that you can manually enter a paper, but I can’t see your screen. Perhaps you could contact support or post to a forum like Quora?
