This is definately on the top of our list for best places to camp and ride. Although if you have a big heavy unit watch where you park, if it rains for a few days. It's a nice short stay campground. I was a little disappointed that you can not use the showers in the main campground, unless you pay extra at the office. This park is more accommodating to regular campers.. more hiking, biking trails than equestrian trails. Hi, I am an UA-cam SEO expert. I have seen some of your videos. Your videos are good and these video can rank in youtube search. Your channel tags and video tags are not good and you didn't write your description properly. I can help you in this matter if you want.
Thank you for your comment but we just do it for fun. Not interested in making money on it. If you want to give us free pointers on my descriptions that would be great
Hey hi there great again. Trace y (Australia)
Lunch at The Story Inn is sooo good!!!
What horse boots do you use?
We have easy boot, but I like old Mac's better. Our next pair I'm thinking of getting scoot boots
Wow, the horrible, horrible “music” completely ruins this video!
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it
Don't worry about peeps passing....they are locals. 😉 You are in beautiful country. I lived in Brown County for several years and it was definitely a different experience. Beautiful and peaceful for sure.
We enjoyed a few of the Indiana parks.
Horse flies there in the summer are horrible 😊 great place to ride We always ride to Story for lunch 😊
I love country folks. Just don't cross them.❤
Glad to see you halter tie! I raised my daughters on those trails. Hours of nature and solitude. My youngest daughter won $12,500 a yr, renewable 4 hrs, of college tuition on her entrance essay writing that riding in the Deam Wilderess and Brown Cty taught her that everything in life can come back to something very simple. So totally paid off all the hard work for all the fun! And the rattlesnakes have killed off many a real estate deal when city folk want to buy a neat old cabin down there! Those waves of tall grass out frt is not wind! Yeah you need to see that campground when it's FULL!
I saw a big rig in the day parking lot - truck/trlr/tires covered w yellow paint - they had just freshly striped the drive into the Horseman's Camp. No way to drive those rigs thru those curves within the lines.
They let timber rattlesnakes loose in Brown County State Park
Well that would be another reason why you won't see me there in the spring summer or early fall. LoL 🤣
story is not really a town and it is the story inn with the haunted stories. go up to indiana stonehenge while there, the only thing to really see
I have haller logs down the same road in a big truck 😁
Hey guys amazing trails again, but what happened to the dogs, they looked like they were lost and hooked up with you to get out. Thanks for your video and big happy birthday wishes to whomever birthday it was. Love Tracey (Australia).
Oh jeez didn't even think to explain the dogs. They followed us all the back to camp. So the one dog had a phone number on his collar. It was hard to distinguish the numbers but eventually we got it and they lived behind the forest. They weren't concerned, said they go there all the time. I was concerned because we can't let our dogs out, as we tried but they didn't get along. So they came and got them. Thank you for the birthday wishes it was Jason's, we both have April birthdays.
I grew up there went to grade school there. I know you passed it on your way to story. We love our little home town.❤
They call Brown County the little Smokies for a reason.
Is story still for sale?
I'm not sure. The owner didn't mention anything
How much DE do you feed your horses and what brand do you use?
I'm not really sure the brand, it comes in a 40lb brown paper feed bag. We work up to a half cup a day. I don't feed it in the summer. It must be food grade quality only
How much DE are you feeding your horses per day
You're in my neck of the woods!! It's a beautiful place to be. ❤
I have driven an 8 ft wide horse trailer on this same straight of road many times and I was 50 plus years old. Girl you must be from the city! I love this part of my country!
Sweetheart when your 71' long and electrical lines just miss the top of the motorhome and a tree just misses the mirrors, it makes me a little nervous. And no I've never lived in a city my entire life.
I heard you mentioned bugs Well there's the Chiggers , But as long as you treat your clothes with Pyrithmen and use Deet and were long pants with pants tucked into your socks or boots You should remain bite free.Only takes one time ov not doing that and I assure you that you won't be lazy or careless Thanks for the Video that's in my backyard very nice
Most people think Indiana is nothing but flat corn feilds .I beg to differ . Live very close to Brown County in Owen County . Known as South Central Indiana very rural and hilly .
Love riding in Indiana
Stumbled across your vlog this morning! My old stomping ground!!
Well the riding looked adventurous. Great guys bet you had to watch your knees. 💙 tracey (Australia)
It's was a beautiful park, but my favorite is yet to come. 👍
@@pleasureriderv ooooooooo
Beautiful campground and riding, thanks for sharing with us. What were the temperatures there in March?
If I remember correctly mid 70's
@@pleasureriderv It must have been beautiful there. I have never been to Alabama, I am sure it's quite hot in the summer though. Thank you for sharing your travels with the rest of us who are horseless.
Thank you. Hedley was a huge part of my childhood and adulthood as we would take the route to the Okanagan for holiday. Good feels.
That explains the EMPY BARN!
My dad worked in Hedley. He was there when the rock slide happened in 1939. He took pictures that my oldest sister now has.
As long as your living the dream. Tracey (Australia)
I'm glad you said it wasn't for you, I live hear. An 99% of everything you said in this vid was wrong. We have some problems here that the ranger has had to deal with lately. The pool in the campground is a swale for drainage, you are in a swamp after all. An we camp there, an on the other side in the winter when its alot drier. The gun range you are referring to is our county run gun range, thats also in use by our local L.E.O's, but its over a mile an a half away to the west. A very safe range thats fully staffed with trained Range Officers at all times. The tracks are that were made by tractors doing mowing an making fire breaks for prescribed burns, that we do when conditions are right for invasive weed control. This is the real Florida, not Disney, an the ranger is correct, its about preserving the wildlife. I think the rules are posted on the info boards that are in the park. An obviously you didn't go to the west side equestrian center, just north of Fellsmere Fl., there is two sides to the preserve, the one you were at, a lot of us take an evening ride thru the park to observe the wildlife cause its alot closer to get to than the west side for a quick ride. Spring an summer is our rainey season, so all ground will be soft in the outlying areas. There are RV parks here that you could have parked at, an boarded your horse at a boarding facility here, then taken trail rides when you wanted. I don't think making a disparaging video was called for about us, maybe more homework could have been done on your part, as the office has people there that answer calls. Just for the record the reason its for wildlife preservation is because we make it home for deer, hogs, turtles, snakes, birds including bald eagles, foxs, coyote, panthers, bears, alligators, crocodiles, you name it we have it, even including manatees in the Sebastian River. An we even have an observation area for counting them in the preserve, so maybe you mite want to do more homework an come back in the cooler months of winter an enjoy it, then make a video of the place from a different point of view. I felt this was a very narrow minded take on one of the last remaining parts of Florida that can't be turned into a concrete jungle. An we also have seven other preserves here that can't be built on here either in I. R. C.
Well William as we said this is our opinion. I know the world has become more and more against people that have one. Well showed what we seen when we were there, so others can make the decision on their own as to whether it not they want to go. Now as for drier in the winter, we were there for 1 week at the end of February 2024. It was the only place along our route before our booked site near Daytona for bike week. Obviously you didn't do you homework in us to know that we don't stay in one area very long so boarding horses won't be a feasible option. Secondly we live very minimally so we can do what we do. As for the shooting range I'm glad you are knowledgeable to inform me it's run by the rangers, which in turn makes my statement more valid. It's a non stop noise of fireworks that the horse campers have to listen to on a daily basis. I'm sure the deer and wildlife are use to it though. Your comment of us not being one the west side equestrian center is confusing as you stated you live there so I would think by the video you would know exactly where we are. As for both the horse camps are on the east side of the interstate. Story book being more North than ranch camp. But I'm sure you already know that. Maybe since your so knowledgeable about the park you can talk to them and have them clarify in they're website No RV's allowed. I'm sure we are not the only people that travel full time with horses that have an RV and horse trailer. So once again the video states our opinion and if you did your research you would know we travel south only in the winter. So if winter is drier there then I sure wouldn't want to go back again in the spring or fall. Not that we would anyway.
Well I hear you, I thought I made perfect sense in my response, guess not. Happy trails to you, to bad you chose to look at it this way.
Looks like the trails were for ATV
No. The rangers used a big tractor to move debris or whatever they were doing. We had them pass us on the trail. Good thing our horses are traffic safe. But boy did they make a total mess of the trails.
I get so excited when I see you have a new vid. Bit bummed it wasn't a nice spot. Tracey (Australia)
Awwww thanks Tracey. The spot wasn't horrible but the attitude wasn't needed. Although the trails weren't worth the time. So many other places to go, no need to be treated like crap.
Interested in the logistics of taking your horses from state to state. Many require a livestock inspection upon entering. Have you had any problems with that since you are full time and how do you maintain your coggins and health certificates?
We generally Google search and call around for a vet when we need our papers redone. We have never had an issue in any state with our paperwork
I am working on the upholstery for a Lil Pete right now. I will be done in about 2 weeks. I wish i could post pictures for you on here.
You can send them to us on Facebook. Pleasure Ride RV
‘they’re’, my friend! How they are ( they’re ) made…..
That’s Indiana , lots of narrow roads and S bends. We are all used to it.
I guess the narrow roads with drop offs and bends takes some getting used to especially since we're 70' long. But it's not just Indiana there's some pretty narrow roads in the Arizona canyons too.
Was the scavenger hunt pitures when you find the real thing?
Guess I ask to soon.
Too beaut. Tracey (Australia)
You guys are funny! Thanks for sharing😊
I think it means no cars , horses are allowed
you are very game kiddies for getting in the water with them gators. Tracey (Australia).
LoL 😂 it was an experience. Probably not one I'd do again.
How do you guys deal with water for horses on your 14 day stay? Love the videos. Hardly no one is doing this with horses!
We have a 40 g tank fits inside our motorcycle trailer. Between the motorhome tank and the spare we have about 8 days. Then we take the motorcycles and go get more water. Generally there's a water source not very far from where we camp.
Are your horses shod? And do you do that yourselves or how are you contacting farriers?
Honey bee has only been shod once in her life. If the trails are rocky I put boots on her. Now if we go back to Arizona I would put pads and shoes on both horses front and back. Generally I trim my own horses in the road but if they get to long, I'll Google local farriers or when we were in Florida I just posted on a Florida page and a farrier came within a couple days. The power of social media pages in the horse world has been our go to. Your always meeting some super people that become good friends
Have you ever had issues with wild horses?
No we've never seen any. Yet
This is great! I am preparing to travel with my horses soon!
Enjoy, live your best life
My Grandfather was born in Hedley in 1913. Thank you so much for this wonderful video.
I want one
I really like your washing machine. Very Aussie that one. Tracey (Australia)❤
