ohio
My great-grandfather Elbert Burgess my grandmother Alfreda Burgess (Adkins) my grandfather James Ray Adkins my mother was born there and all of my aunts and uncle. Logan county West. I see my family's name 5 of them on the Buffalo Creek disaster. I am the first generation born in Indiana. I have never been to Logan West Virginia to see where my roots come from someday I will visit there.
Also a town that if you say something bad about the police on social media a butthurt cop woll COME TO YOUR HOME AND CRY ABOUT IT AND ILLEGALLY ARREST YOU!!!
I left Huntington 32 years ago because technical jobs had dried-up. Moved to Kansas and never looked back, still have some relatives in WV. Beautiful state but very poor.
Pipestem is a nice area.
I’ve always thought Elkins would be a pretty nice place to live, aside from the winters.
Clay county is truly a depressing place. Sadly it’s nothing but poverty, welfare, drugs and ramshackle house trailers.
Webster county has some nice scenery, aside from that it’s deader than a hammer.
Should showed the carvings
Thank you for this series. I was born and raised in WV but only spent time in a few counties. This is a fantastic source of information.
Mom folks from Jeffrey & Man she was a Jeffrey and married a Vickers
Thank you Wayne.
Thank you for the inspirational shorts Wayne. We enjoy them! ❤
❤ WV! ❤Appalachia! I am proud to say I am part of the "Friends of Coal" group and display this fact on my license plate. Thanks again WW!
Thanks so dearly for showing off our beautiful Mingo county!!!!❤
I love Kanawha Country!
Most known person to ever live there is named Derkie Castle .
much love from Lincoln county West Virginia
❤ WV! ❤Appalachia. Farmer's Day, a good idea to honor and respect those that help deliver the West Virginia food supply. Great short!
I was born in Logan and lived with my grandparents at Holden 5 & 6 for a short while. My grandpa was killed in a mine accident in 1968 which was the first time I ever saw my dad cry. A lot of good memories from that time that I will not forget.
Thank you for the video . My father was one of the CCCs who built the park . He took me their often as a child . I no longer live in WV but when I return I love to bring my children and grandchildren to the park . Tell them the tales my Dad told me . The park is part of home .
In 1870 Rotten Ray Ankrum came down from the hills and burned the town to the ground. Then went into the charcoal business and made Millions. Blood will tell, breeding will out
Wow, that's way farther west than I would have expected. Those guys, assuming they were around 18 when they enlisted would have been around 68+ years old at that reunion.
That's so cool! Looks like the real deal. Awesome video as usual Wayne. 👍
Thank you! I had a great time! Was like going back in time!
My favorite county in WV.
❤ WV! ❤Appalachia. History is rich on this one 🤔 Thanks Wayne!
I have not heard anything about you in quite a while. Is it just me or where you been?
Hey Larry, you didn't happen to own an acre in Neola with another chap and sold a couple years back?
@@brookscarney no not me. Where is neola?
@@larrybuckner8619 Northern Greenbrier County on the 92 heading towards Snowshoe. Approx 15 miles from Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.
❤WV! ❤Appalachia! Thanks for all your hard work Wayne, much appreciated!
Awesome!
This is interesting to me because my ancestors lived in Ritchie County from at least the early 1800’s (or what would become Ritchie Co.) until they moved to southern Kansas and northeast Oklahoma around 1915-1920. I always understood that the members of the family that came to the Tulsa area did so to get into the oil business. But this leads me to believe they may very well have been in the oil business already (I wasn’t aware of Cairo’s connection to that industry). Also, I’ve found records of my great great grandfather (who was born in Cairo in the 1860’s) lived in Parkersburg when he died in 1854 and had been an employee of the B&O Railroad. So cool to find your video! Makes me want to jump back in to all the ancestry research.
If you hurt the Sheriffs feelings in Taylor County, they will lock you up. ua-cam.com/video/PQg83nZlGnU/v-deo.html
Awesome! Tried two years in a row to grow strawberries and failed.
Wv/ky have some great town names: i can name a few: war, johnnycake, panther, dingy/dingess, boogerhole, ireland/english, beehive/butterfly, ky… to name a few
Love this, and love strawberries! Thanks for sharing Wayne! 🍓🍓🍓
Saw you on WSAZ a few weeks ago for WV day.
@@Hillbilly-mgjwvbig W.Worth & 55 Counties fan here 👍 Do you recall the name of the show and actual date? Please and thank you, and if not, no worries 👋😊
@@brookscarney June 20th, WV’s birthday. WSAZ News did a piece on Wayne sitting down in Huntington and waving at folks. They ran the story in their afternoon and evening news.
❤WV! ❤Appalachia. I do love 🍓 and fond memories! Wonder if they have some delicious shortcake? 🤔
Awesome! My grandpa was from Newburg then moved up to Ohio after WW2
❤WV! ❤Appalachia. A new video from ONTR WV 55 counties? Awesome! 👍

Thanks Wayne
Minear (Minnier) is my 5thx Great Grandfather. Just, Wow!
Are there any small cities in West Virginia that have a strong enough economy, where a car salesman or a Powersports dealership salesman such as myself can actually make enough money to live alongside a small yard care company? Basically I need a larger Powersports dealership that actually makes money. I have looked for three months and I cannot find anywhere in West Virginia. Beckley, West Virginia has two dealerships, making it harder to sell things because all the brands are not under one roof. Huntington, West Virginia looks good, but I think they have a major drug problem and Charleston. Morgantown is a college town and I avoid them and I cannot afford to live it cheat lake. Do you have any suggestions?
❤WV! ❤Appalachia. Who doesn’t love “a farm on every corner”?!
