sorry, yeh sub bakwas hey up ki Jahalat zaher hop rahay. Arabic calligraphy as art is very old & was popularised more as Muslims avoid drawing pictures of living . Arabic writing ( may be even Urdu & Persian) can be turned into beautiful shapes. There is a whole designer line in Gulf countries called Kalima ( now being Pakistani you will say Kalima is Islamic word !!!! ) No it only means "word " this line uses calligraphy on its product.
