Elephant Garlic and Veg Patch Update - Pots & Trowels
Thank you for your video I just bought 2 amaryllis so I’m going to pot them now
That was fun to watch. Thank you for sharing
Maybe I missunderstood, but can you not make the shaped fan or tree/column with the blackcurrants too? Great video! 😊
And also, if you have trained a plant to a column (or something), would you still cut it back to the ground when planting it?
A lovely idea 🌸
NICE MY FRIEND GAVE ME A FIG TREE A FEW DAYS AGO.
Wow nice - hope you get some good fruit! - we've got all your gardening goodness here on P&T! -Sean
Many thx!💞
You're welcome 😊 fresh videos every Thursday and our podcast comes out each Sunday 🌱 subscribe and never miss a thing! -Sean
Thank you for the video I will have to plant them and horse beans here in California
Ah yes good luck Manuel! -Sean
Great video. When would be the best time of year to start a job like this?
Excellent demonstration

Do you have a video on pruning the ever-bearing raspberries?
I thought you prune at different times of year?
Thank you for clearly explaining the difference in pruning the tops.
Thanks for your video. I live in northeast US. I’m getting conflicting advice on when to prune my climbing roses. Some say wait til early spring/late winter. So confused. What should I do?
I'm
I wish for some more videos in your own garden 🙏. See the progress 🙏
surely thats an electric lawn rake cartridge not a scarifier cartridge ?? confusing when you watch other youtube lawnsmiths
Hi, thanks for the comment - we were supplied the equipment by our kind sponsors at Cobra garden machinery - as you an see it's very similar to the workings on the bottom of the dedicated scarifier - the featured cartridge fits into a range of cartridges including dethatchers, brushes, verticutters and aerators which are all very different - if it helps here's the range: www.cobragarden.co.uk/cylinder_mower_Menu_Page.html -Sean
Raking not scarifying. Scarify is cutting into the soil. With solid metal if people don't watch the video they won't understand
@@keithtownsend4122 Hi all, we ended up discussing this on the podcast: ua-cam.com/video/o8ZSdS3Xjrk/v-deo.html - hope it's interesting to you!
wow looks great, where did you purchase the netting from by chance?
Just from a local garden centre.
Hello folks, i love veggies, please show me how to plant cabbages and sweet potatoes, thank you so much.😊❤
Love the podcast nice to see who is talking and the subject matter John.s Manchester 😊😊😊
Thanks for watching! -Sean
Buddliea is a weed. It will get into your roof and parapets and it will damage your house & outbuildings. Dig it out & plant something better like a camellia
So good to know and I might get some in spring. Thanks!
Brilliant and thanks
You're most welcome @michaelfarrelly7980 😊 we do fresh videos every Thursday & our podcast comes out each Sunday, subscribe and never miss a thing! -Sean
Will you doing a follow up video for this, I;m a bit concerned that mine arnt doing very well
We had a chat about this on the podcast - the plan is to do an update - but, at the risk of giving you a podcast spoiler, Martin has had some challenges as well! -Sean
Timely info, thank you. Need to do mine in the next couple of weeks
You're welcome - thanks for the continued support! - Will make sure Martin answers the carrot Q!! -Sean
I remember what you told about how to overwinter the geraniums, I follow those steps and saved all of them. Put them in the shed that has a window. I also trim down five of them and place them in front porch. But I am not sure wether it's a good idea to place there because it's Windows are facing south.
Does this work for geraniums as well?
Yes - geranium is another name for pelargoniums
So helpful! Thank you!
You're welcome @Gracielooks. We do fresh videos every Thursday and podcast episodes on Sundays! Subscribe and never miss a thing :) -Sean
Everything that I've read says that you should not do any fall pruning, as to not spur new growth...instead, wait until spring. Is there a rule of thumb about this? Such as waiting until the first frost to prune? I really would like to tidy up before the heavy winter.
In the UK it’s common practice to prune roses by around one third to half in mid-late November as the plants go into winter dormancy - this reduces wind rock. In spring they are given a harder prune to encourage strong new growth. However you don’t have to give the autumn prune.
Thank you my rose bush gave me several blooming over the spring and summer but the stems have grown so long, I felt it was too early to cut it back but later it will be too cold for me to be out in the cold.
Nice 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Thanks for watching! -Sean
Hiya am I right then in saying cos I've just planted mine from the grower which are exactly the same as you just planted its September but if you cut it down like you have then you won't get fruit on it the year you planted but the following year so how do we keep fruit coming year after year. I'm confused?
Cut down after planting to encourage bushy growth. No fruit next year but the year after lots of fruit. Thereafter, prune to remove some of shoots that have fruited to get a balance of old and new grow to ensure fruit for the following year. Martin
I really enjoy all your videos and I learn something each time.
Lovely to read - many thanks for commenting! -Sean
I hope you had a good break and enjoyed some relaxing time. Good to see you back, literally in your garden! Thank you for the reminders about jobs this week, I have already collected seeds so I'm ahead of the curve. This last week, for my birthday, I received two rhubarb plants so I will be heading over to your video to see how to plant and care for them. Thank you again
It honestly doesn't really feel like work but having a couple of weeks where we didn't have a deadline definitely helped me! -Sean (thanks for the continued support)

Good morning, thank you so much, have a great day.❤😊
You're welcome! thanks for watching -Sean
Hi! Are you only pruning hydrangeas in the early spring, or can you also do this in the fall?
Looking forward to it. Can i ask why my celeriac is only producing loads of leaves. The bulb seems to be too scared to be seen😂
I'm so sorry I think we missed this question - will get it to Martin as soon as I can! -Sean
@PotsTrowels No worries I know you have a busy schedule.
They can be temperamental at times. They need a moisture retentive soil, plenty of food and a long growing season. I sowed my seed in late March and grew the seedling on in the greenhouse until the plants were ready to plant out in May. If you’ve not got a swollen root they have been short of food or water at some point. Better luck next year. Martin
@PotsTrowels Thank you Martin.
Thankyou so much! I have been pruning mine wrong for years !
Aw, it's easily done @stacyrosa6672 - We had a discussion about these fruit bush videos on the podcast - hope it's also useful to you! Fresh videos every Thursday -Sean
Thank you!

What a stunning display of streptocarpus. Thanks
That was great learned a lot mine never last so with that information try try again but that's gardening many thanks 👍👍
Some very useful tips there.

Would these grow in Texas? They are gorgeous! It's hot and humid here in summer.
Whats your secret for writing labels, I have tried just about everything and the water washes everything off
@@ihallsworth A Sharpie pen works for me.
I tend to use a pencil which lasts for ages but can be rubbed off so you can reuse the label.
After decades of Gary, I e learned today how to deadhead roses properly . Thank you so so much . Daisy
Our pleasure. Martin
I have a rose bush at my apartment that my neighbor 'trimmed'. Now it's very tall and not bushy. What can I do to get it to be like a normal bush, and how do I do it?
@harbor07716 I’d prune by half in November and in March cut it back by half again to promote new growth from low down. Martin
Love your videos. Ideal for the beginner as well as the more experienced gardener. You certainly put a spring in my step, to get sowing.❤
❤ Thank you for sharing my friend😊
Thank you for the hardier plant ideas! Gorgeous planter design
You are very welcome @Elemiriel - fresh videos every Thursday, subscribe and never miss a thing :) 🌱 -Sean
So glad I found this video! My father in law (sadly passed away 2 years ago) planted rhubarb, possibly 20 years ago. My wife and I noticed that the past two years it hasn’t been growing as bountiful, this year being the worst. The one you dug up may be slightly smaller than our biggest 😅 I was going to follow the steps in your video in the hope I can revive it but as it’s now early September should I wait for spring or can I go ahead with it now? Excellent video sir! 💯
Thanks for watching and commenting @ac35ad - we have had a chat about this on the podcast - I forgot to respond to tell you, here's the podcast link: ua-cam.com/video/3ChGOEbTjkE/v-deo.html -Sean
