How the hell has this been on youtube for 5 years and no comments? I've been eating according to the EAT lancet report for about 2 years now, over time tweaking my diet to drop the meat and poultry altogether (never excited me, and no calcium, iron, iodine or omega's in meat, anyway). I've also minimised the fish, though I DO love a fat, fat mackerel or sardine, I don't want the seas to be empty before I hit retirement age. As a result, I started eating bivalves! Usually mussels, as scallops and oysters are above my means. Scallops are for easter and christmas. In addition I have a spot of dairy most days, three eggs instead of two as the report suggests one can swap meat servings for eggs, and you know what? I love it. I love plants, I love roasted veggies, crunchy delicious nuts in every form (whole, butter, fermented nut cheese), pasta, quinoa, hearty sourdough and rye breads, legumes in all their varieties (roasted, stewed...), chewy funky tempeh (my new 'chicken'), and I also enjoy, all the more now! My one dairy, wether that's goat cheese on an oat pancake with mushrooms and apple, or blue vein on a salad with lots of lentils and beautiful veggies, or a cup of full fat yoghurt with fruit and nuts and honey. I enjoy every meal I eat on this diet. UPF's don't even register as food to me anymore, let alone appeal to me. I can recommend everyone who is still eating a SWD with lots of animal foods and UPF's to dip their toes into whole plant based foods; the water is fine! And you don't have to go all in, all at once. I didn't. There's a learning curve to changing your eating habits and cooking new things, using new produce, and thereby challenging the habits of family and friends, that's totally fine. There's such an interesting world of flavors to experience, and you will do your health and the planet a great service too.

I usually don’t watch these types of interviews, but I throughly enjoyed watching this show on Southern Women and Southern food. I grew up in the South and I only know Southern food because of the Women. All the Southern Women in my family are great cooks and each addition of a woman coming into the family through marriage brought her own perspective and personality to the foods they cook. I think these two Women captured the spirit and essence of Southern food and the Southern Woman. I’m going out to buy a copy.
