New subscriber here. I just messed up and sold a batch of Robert B. Parker hardcovers for 29.00 and the shipping via media mail was 21.00. luckily, I only paid 30 cents each but still, gotta watch those media mail prices. no more hardcover bundles for me.
My brother and I had a ton of Transformers from the Armada series when we were kids! I loved the minicons!
nice! can't believe that book went for 150.
Some of these New Age books, particularly the older ones, are pretty valuable.
Thanks definitely will be on the lookout 👀
Awesome video
thanks!
👍
Interesante tu canal de cosas retro. Ahí te sigo y recomiendo, si querés mira lo que hago. Saludos y éxitos.
I enjoy the videos, Jon sent me. Why do you upload the same video multiple times?
One is the live bit and I record it and post it later. I tend to delete the livestream after a while.
I love selling kids books - but of course they are usually beat up pretty bad. :(
Yep. Particularly paperbacks.
That, my friend, is a fine, fine looking hat! Those GI Joe figures were cool. I will have to look up the Night Force ones so I know what they look like.
They're the same molds as base figures, just different colors. Always pick up gi Joe's for cheap under any circumstances, including broken.
What’s your experience with mailing DVDs (like normal movies) via media mail? My post office has just recently said that is not permitted. All the things I find online seem to say it’s ok but my post master says it’s not.
You may need to have a conversation with your postmaster using whatever info from USPS directly. Movies have traditionally been considered media mail, unless there has been a very recent regulation change. That being said, with ground advantage, regular DVDs won't be that much more expensive to ship.
@@boogdoc8909 right he and I have talked several times with examples and he sees a section about computer readable media that mentions DVDs and since all DVDs can be read by computer says that’s the relevant rules even though that’s really taking about software on dvd. There’s another part about recorded sound and video but says that would only be about home movies or that sort of thing. It’s only a difference of maybe 20-40 cents per item or more if it’s bulk but it all adds up. I’m always polite to him about this since they do let me drop off mail before they officially open in the morning which is huge for me since I’m on my way to work then.
Just found your channel. I lijke your format.
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
Just started myself a couple months ago.. I believe I will sub and see what wisdom you can share.. ha!
Glad to have you along!
Hi Ryan. Very helpful video. I'm very new (about a month and a half in) into book reselling and I've been able to build up what I feel is a decent book inventory of 120+ books listed but staying cash flow positive. However, I am trying to get a better feel of how long it took to become a couple $100 a month cash flow positive and how much inventory it took to get to that point on a consistent basis. To say it another way, although I feel like I've got a pretty solid listing, books seem to move a bit slow but I don't have a good sense yet of how much inventory I should have and how much I should continue to buy. Any thoughts are welcome.
I have about 250 listings going on consistently and come out about $300-$500 net profit each month. Books do tend to move slow unless you get something in high demand. My listings are also about 3/4 books as well. Toys and other stuff as well.
@@boogdoc8909 Thanks for the feedback, your answer seems pretty consistent with what I am seeing. I'm going to an estate sale tomorrow that has quite a bit of Sci-Fi. Hoping to find some good buys. BTW, I'm in the Southeast region as well which seems to be the case for a few of the book resellers I am watching on You Tube. Keep the videos going!
I have had numerous Bibles, and never seen one with any words in red. So there you go, you learn something new everyday.
This is interesting. Most of the ones I have seen typically have the words of Christ in red. I may check some of the versions that I don't typically sell.
I picked up a first ed first printing HC DJ of Dune at the bins. I sold it for 34.99 within a couple of days of posting it last year. It sold so quick it made me think I should have posted it for a higher amount. The funny thing is the FBA people just tossed it aside. FYI - The Small Town Small Time Book Seller sent me over to your channel. I look forward to listening to another perspective on selling my favorite things...books. :)
You very well may have underpriced it. I HAVE had a few Dune books sell really quickly that were within the range I found on solds. If it was a couple days, I think you may have priced it right. If it had been hours, then you KNOW you probably were too low.
@@boogdoc8909 If I remember correctly, it was within 24 hours. I priced it lower because the dust jacket was frayed around the edges, but I am learning that with vintage books it doesn't always matter.
Recently subscribed. Was turned on to your channel from Small Town Small Time Bookseller. Learning quite a bit from all of you. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for coming in!
Hello, I'm getting into reselling and see lots of books all the time. How do you know what to pay and what sells? Would love a video on popular authors and books? Thanks!
First, learn how to look up completed sales on ebay. Just look books up. Your base costs with shipping on ebay are about $6...so you need to find a level you are comfortable with. I'll probably answer some more of your questions in another video next week!
@@boogdoc8909 Thanks! 🙏🏻
Love it. Might sell my old dune books!
Now may be the time to do it. Make sure you check completed sales for your specific versions.
Nicely done! Thanks for the info on the church books. Reformation era, conservative churches. Does Charles H. Spurgeon fit in that description? Because everything I pick up of his sells pretty quickly. Always enjoy your videos!
Yep. I have good success with Spurgeon as well.
I've learned so much from you about good book series! Thank you 😊
You're welcome!
You had me at Stephen King and GRRM when he wrote books, lol. Nice sales, man!
I'm actually finding that some SK books don't sell as well as they used to. The 80s hardcovers don't move as much.
It's funny you mentioned the listings with no photos. Recently, I was looking for a book and noticed several listings with no photos. I totally ignored them 😊
If there were some with completed sales, there's a decent chance you can price yours above the ones without pics and sell it. A lot of those also tag them as "acceptable."
Ahhhh yeah!!!!! Funny, because I made mention of like 5 religion books that sold in my latest video. Also, I like how you put it, "if it's a textbook with a weird title" - perfectly said! Nice Horschak imitation there as well. Glad you survived the eclipse, and Texas! Good luck with the sales, looks like things are going well.
whats with the camera quality of the 90s haha !!
More like early 2000s.
Let me know the gemmal books that you have
Don't see a way you have set up to contact you privately.
Enjoy learning about all the books! 😊
Hitchhiker's Guide is one of the greatest books ever! Had my daughter read it recently and she liked it as well. Hope the sales keep up. I stay away from the David Eddings type books, they are just too big for my meager storage space!
I think that I've come to the conclusion that they're not worth dealing with unless I can sell a full series all at once.
That’s funny, first edition book club? There’s really no such thing however
Generally, you're right. However, the Sci-Fi book club books are a particular exception. They are true first printings of particular books, like Star Wars: a New Hope and Alien. If you have proof otherwise, let me know!
"Promosm"
Great sale! I have luck selling the Missals more than Bibles. Same criteria - leather, with a slipcase, clean, things like that. Have you ever tried selling the really huge family bibles? I see them at Goodwill often, but never pick them up.
I haven't tried on the big family Bibles yet. I think I looked them up once and it wasn't quite worth it, but I need to check again next time I see a clean one.
Great video
Thanks!
Thanks for the videos :)
Glad you like them!
Hi Ryan, are you reselling full time or part time? I really enjoyed learning about the books/bibles. I have a large print KJV and I love it.
Very part time. I probably don't spend 10 hours/week doing this. Net out $300-$500/month.
Thank you for the video.
You bet!
Love coffee and love watching resellers, perfect combo 😊
Hey ryan
Your channel amazing
Thank you so much!
That Indian inline four cylinder motorcycle sold for $150.00 plus shipping and taxes at about $165.00 brand new 25 year's ago' I still have mine !.
Just sold it. It really is a sweet, well-built model.
how do you do taxes as a reseller? keep track of expenses like shipping materials, do you keep track of miles driven?
Nothing that extensive - I'm under the threshold right now per year. But the biggest thing I do is keep everything that has to do with ebay on one account with its own card. That, combined with ebays own records, makes the process a lot easier.
I just started watching Outlander on Netflix a couple days ago!
Enjoyed the video! New sub 😊
Thanks for subbing!
Is that you, Screech?
Yeah, hanging with Tiffani Amber-Thiessen. Unlike you troglodytes.
So Dustin Diamond faked his death, dyed his beard and became a UA-camr? Interesting.... 🤔🤔🤔
What, am I back in 6th grade again?
Another reason why actual collectors can’t find anything to collect.
I collect as well. I find most collectors resell to one degree or another.
Nice sales, Ryan. I had pretty good holiday sales as well!
Yep. now to see if people got Christmas money to spend...
@@boogdoc8909 let's hope so!
I have a big head to, darn little hats
I have most of the series and a few hardcovers. It may be hard to part with them because I absolutely loved the series as a kid.
I like to sell caps/hats and coffee mugs/tea cups on my channel
I do hats sometimes when I get them at the right price. Ceramic stuff I've never really gotten to work well; about all I grab is the milk glass cartoon character stuff and jadite.
That's cool 😎
Yep! Thanks!
Sweet coffee mug
It's handmade by a friend of mine. Wish she still made 'em.
