Gisborne to Blackwood return (Victoria Australia) A quick overnighter with mates. Super chilly weather but we missed most of the rain gladly!

    Great video. You really did get fantastic weather. Just wondering why you didn't go through Judbury and over the mountain into Geeveston?

      You're really testing my memory! I think it was getting pretty late in the day and we didn't want to ride in darkness, so we took the faster route along the road to make it to camp in daylight.

      @@Biggsy76 that makes sense! Thanks for clarifying.

    can I ask, what's your view on gravel bike vs mountain bike for this trail? were the drop bars better or worse?

    • @Biggsy76
      @Biggsy76 Місяць тому

      I had no problems at all with the drop bars. I did have a redshift stem for some extra comfort, but drops were fine. There's no technical single track that really needs mtb flat bars. The main thing you want is larger tyres for better grip in the sand and pea gravel. I ran 50mm gravelkings.

    Thanks for the video. I'm hoping to do the Munda Biddi with my wife, 15-year-old son, and a couple of friends next July. How did your group find it on gravel bikes? Cheers

      Gravel bikes were absolutely fine, I ran 50mm panaracer gravel kings, a little smaller would have been ok too. There was only a few very short sections of pea gravel or deep sand that I needed to walk. I think it depends a lot on the time of year tho, when it's been really dry the pea gravel and sand can be worse.

    Great video, gives potential trall riders a good idea of the different types of trail terrain. One suggestion, people searching for Munda Biddi won't find your video as it's one word in your title.

      There's a plan top build 100k of trails around great lake and a lot of locals don't like the idea. nimby's.

    What would your thoughts be on someone doing this solo?

    • @Biggsy76
      @Biggsy76 Рік тому

      That depends on a few things, like level of "what if" you're prepared to risk, your bike skills, and if you have a sat-phone to call for assistance. Most of the trail is absolutely fine, but there's a few tracks that have sketchy descents etc, and phone coverage is very patchy. We were very fortunate and had a mostly mechanical and accident free trip, and fantastic weather.
