n the oil & gas industry, Engineers often spend hours performing calculations to design a gas compressor system. In the case of Gas transmission through pipelines, the performance of a gas compressor becomes critical and can decide whether you are going to see gas production coming to a halt or it's just 'Another Day, Another Dollar'. Design methods are initiated by doing 'steady state' calculations, However nothing can be more frustrating for the engineer to watch his/her 'steady state design' ending up conking out the gas compressor once its built, because he/she failed to judge whether the system was under-designed or over-designed.

centrifugal compressors the head is determined by the volume flow through the unit. In the case of an axial-inlet centrifugal compressor (typical of integrally geared units), an appropriate length of pipe serves to smooth the flow of gas into the eye of the first impeller.

Dynamic compressors are rotary continuous-flow machines in which the rapidly rotating element accelerates the air as it passes through the element, converting the velocity head into pressure, partially in the rotating element and partially in stationary diffusers or blades.

The main difference between single- and two-stage compressors is the number of times that air gets compressed between the inlet valve and the tool nozzle. In a single-stage compressor, the air is compressed one time; in a two-stage compressor, the air is compressed twice for double the pressure

A rotary lobe vacuum pump is a positive displacement pump that uses rotating lobes to generate vacuum. Two three-bladed rotary lobes are mounted in parallel within the housing. They operate in opposite directions. The pumped medium is trapped through the rotation of the lobes, compressed, and transported to the outlet.

Compressor fouling reduces the compressor mass flow rate, pressure ratio and the cycle efficiency which subsequently leads to a reduction in power and increase heat rate [11; 12]. In a bid to recover lost power, firing temperatures are raised which has a detrimental effect on the blade creep life.

    yes blowers does have surge protection, but instead of recirculation lines the usually have Blow-off valves

    1 mistake is visible towards the end, it shows the pressure breaker ring next to the big flange, when it should be next to the smaller 1. ie inner most ring, towards pressure of the cylinder.
