Just sitting and listening to this timeless treasure, sit here with me and I'll tell you a story.... A million years ago at this album's release tour I had tickets for me and my partner to see her, front row balcony seats.... My partner wound up in the hospital from a car accident and so a friend flew in from out of state to go with me... It was the advent of cell phones, and I played the entire concert to him in his hospital bed... It was our last concert together, though I didn't know it then, and it was beautiful.... Unfortunately, he passed a few days later from a blood clot and life was really never the same again. These songs never fail to bring me to tears.... My Railroad Wings keep me going until a Heavenly Day may come.... And, as far as I can tell most everything means nothing, except some things, that mean everything.... 💗 Thanks for listening with me... treat yourself gently.

The song gives me so much courage and love and reminds me of so much bravery that Martin Luther King Jr. had, and Patty Griffin has sing a song and live, despite all the odds and belief that we can change the world. And that we do hear the voice of God or universe whatever you wanna call it. We go on because we can hear it and we can feel it. And we can hear it and feel it because of people like Dr. Martin Luther King and singers like Patty Griffin who remember to share the story of courage.

The first time I saw Patty live in 2005 I cried so hard when she did this song. I was bullied too in school, but I am still here. Patty is one of the most humble people I have ever met. Such a beautiful soul and a nice person.

Nice mix and her voice is strong in this performance but I’m not sure how I feel about a full band accompaniment. It dilutes some of the song’s power that comes from just Patty and her guitar.
