    Thanks, saved me a huge amount of grief trying to figure out why the piston wouldn't compress.

    • @Greasejunkiesteve
      @Greasejunkiesteve 3 місяці тому

      Yeah its tricky the first time but never for the piston in when you can see the park brake connected to calipers, have to be screwed in if not electric , and if electric you see in the vid. Basic rule for all cars.

  • @whskydrnk
    @whskydrnk 3 місяці тому

    Thank you very much, this video led me in the right direction!! I tried the battery charger and I didn’t work because my battery charger apparently only works connected to a battery and not the selenoid for the caliper piston!! But what did work was a 9 volt battery connected to 2 multimeter cables connected to those little 9v battery wires!! I felt more comfortable this way that it wasn’t too much juice!! Worked like a charm!! Needed to post that!!

    Do you have to cycle the brake piston back out of the caliper after the job is done or does the car just know?

    • @Greasejunkiesteve
      @Greasejunkiesteve 3 місяці тому

      First pump the brake with the car off until its stiff and then turn the parking brake on and off a couple times.

    Thanks for showing us how it's done! The amperage setting on the charger doesn't really matter here. It's just like house wiring - if you have a toaster plugged into a 15 amp circuit, it doesn't mean the toaster gets 15 amps, it simply means the toaster can draw a max of 15 amps (before the circuit breaker pops). A little motor like that will only draw a few amps. Imagine how quick a 15 amp toaster would make your toast in the morning...

    • @Greasejunkiesteve
      @Greasejunkiesteve 4 місяці тому

      Ac vs dc are different and on car stuff amperage does matter.

    • @Greasejunkiesteve
      @Greasejunkiesteve 9 місяців тому

      Why are you bleeding the system

    • @Greasejunkiesteve
      @Greasejunkiesteve 9 місяців тому

      Unless you open the lines or had a leak there is no need to bleed the brakes.you dont bleed the brakes when just putting new pads and rotors.

    • @Greasejunkiesteve
      @Greasejunkiesteve 9 місяців тому

      And if you have to bleed the system then make sure you have the vehicle off ,no power or it will mess up the abs

      @slow8317 i appreciate the heads up. Brakes feel a bit spongy even though i didnt open the system. Its my wife's car but asking her for a comparison of how it feels is pointless... I'm used to driving cars with sport brakes so I'm not sure. Was just going to do a flush regardless. It's only at 57k but i already have new fluid so figured why not.

    • @Greasejunkiesteve

Does only popping off the top plate ( the cover that says Toyota and 3.3 on it ) expose the coil so I can replace it easily? You started the video and idk what you took off, that and I don’t know what I’m doing. I was told it was easy?

    nice. the spacer is used to limit the fuel pressure to a max of 2.5 lbs at solex carb. it lengthens the dustance the cam lobe makes contact with the fuel pump rocker arm. also, oldtimers suggest to only put gasket material on the block side, that way it can be reused when/if you need to remove fuel pump at later date.
