Adding insulation helps prevent condensation above the ceiling. It does not prevent air leaks. Hot air escaping to the attic will cause icecyle build-up under the roof. When icecyle melts on sunny days, water will drip to your ceiling. It could also damage the OSB on the roof. The nails holding the shingles will rust faster and eventually pop-out, then roof shingles can easily dislodged when it's too windy. Hiring a professional inspector is good. Hire a good lawyer next. The builder and the city are responsible.

Mistake yan ng builder baka walang inspection na ginawa. Paano nila na-miss yan na totally walang insulation. Dito sa US may inspection ng city kung sinunod ang lahat ng codes. Sobrang nakaka-stress nga yan. 😒

That is often the problem, even with new houses, the builders cheat on the thickness of the ceiling insulation in the attic. In Alberta, attic insulation thickness must be at least R34 or 6" thick or higher to prevent moisture mold, condensation on the ceiling due to airflow. It is better to use spray foam insulation because it is air impermeable and can seal air leaks in attics. This will help keep the living space air conditioned and prevent moisture and mold on the attic ceiling for patching and repairs. You should also replace damaged gypsum board/drywall for your health and safety. Since it is still under warranty because there is a 5-year warranty on the building envelope protection and a 10-year warranty on the major structural components, so you still have a claim against the builders because it is only 1 year. It's really frustrating and annoying to think about because the damage is extensive and there's also a lot of dust and clutter when renovating the house. 🏘
