D-Bag show run above interlaken, raw footage

After a difficult launch with backwind with the d-bag tandem and a 30kg paramotor, i enjoyed this wonderful flight above Interlaken. Sadly i lost the smoke during takeoff but the crowd seemed happy anyway. I had the first part of the run in my mind (infinit to sat, joker, cork) and could add the cowboys and mistys to fill the height and to work my way to the landing.

    I have one Beamer 2 and launch then on SIV for test. One time on Governador Valadares - Brazil in a beatiful fly of 70km, i unexpected spin a very low altitude ~120m becouse the very old glider (14secods) and i no think 2 times to launch. I have a soft land after few seconds. He open very fast and the sink rate its nice!

    This is really cool, but I'd love to see how fast the Beamer 130 comes down with 130kg of weight. That's similar to my setup and I'm worried about coming down too fast. The 170 didn't exist when I bought my 130.

    I wouldn't bother with kicking the glider away before landing, and just do a PLF. Attempting to land on your feet under reserve usually results in broken bones.

    • @anieltoengi
      @anieltoengi Місяць тому

      Sure, a doing a PLF is never wrong. For me the descent rate is very manageable on a beamer flown at 70% of its max take off weight.

    • @TheGrundigg
      @TheGrundigg Місяць тому

      You can literally flare the beamer and the sink rate is lower than a normal reserve to begin with.

    • @anieltoengi
      @anieltoengi Місяць тому

      I have seen this method used in a real situation once, it seemed to work ok. My only concern would be how well you can steer to the unattached side. Do you have any experience with that? I have quick outs at home, but I just like the ease of beeing able to clip in a different wing within seconds.

  • @sovicz4799
    @sovicz4799 Місяць тому

    Good, if you have the altitude and time - in simulated conditions. In reality you use the rescue, when you do not have the height and there is not much time to spare. Then can be such a complicated system wastly contraproductive.

    • @anieltoengi
      @anieltoengi Місяць тому

      Yes exactly, this is how to test fly your beamer as safe as possible. I have my fair share of "real" rescues and of course every situation will be different. In an ideal scenario with lots of height and away from terrain i would absolutely pull in the main wing. If you have a low fuck up, just stall the wing and hold it with one hand. With a different brand of rogallo i was only able to steer towards the side i held the paraglider, its like a airbrake on that side. In some real scenarios you won't be able to steer at all and are just glad that you don't hit the ground at terminal velocity :)

    • @anieltoengi
      @anieltoengi Місяць тому

      It's just a standard computer voice from my editing programm. I think with AI it would sound more natural but I don't have any experience in this field. I just didn't want to do a voiceover with my swiss german accent😅. This is actually the birthplace of the Beamer, with 3 big fields and only two fences, a tree and a house on them it is the safest spot in the valley.

    • @thecrazybird
      @thecrazybird Місяць тому

      @@anieltoengi Fair enough. I was asking because I was not quite sure about the voice, and it seemed to work ok, even if it made you sound like someone in his sixties. I have the same conflict of narrating videos with my Danish accent vs trying out some Ai. Have been going with music thus far. Must say that when I look at your landing field, there seems to be a lot of obstacles, if you were coming down in a regular "go where the wind blows" rescue ;-) Thanks for the info.

    • @anieltoengi
      @anieltoengi Місяць тому

      @@thecrazybirdyes a normal rescue would be stupid to test there, especially from this height. If you watch my fail video, the first rescue i had to throw was a companion sqr which is not steerable but has a little forward speed to be more stable. I crossed the valley with this rescue and landed in the river. I was super lucky that the rescue came down on a big bush, if it also would have landed in the water, i would be dead😬

    L'angle d'attaque de "l'aile" Rogallo semble étonnamment élevé et la finesse quasiment nulle, en tous cas de ce que l'on peut en voir lors de l'atterrissage. On dirait vraiment une Rogallo en décrochage constant. Si c'est pour obtenir ce résultat, autant avoir une coupole simple...

      Hallo Julian, mit dem Alpha hast du auf jeden fall längere bremswege als mit dem 16m2 acro schirm in diesem beispiel. Stallen sollte aber kein problem sein, wenn du am notschirm hängst, kannst du auch nachgreifen. Die bremsdrücke sind viel geringer. Alternativ kannst du auch die hinteren Tragegurten nehmen, die brauchen viel weniger weg. Das schirm einholen könnte vielleicht ein wenig mühsamer sein, weil du wahrscheinlich einen grösseren schirm fliegst und mehr material zum verstauen hast.

    In 24 years I haven't yet thrown my reserve (touch wood)... but you have become an expert at it in just a few short months! And paragliders say hanggliding is more dangerous... but they do not collapse! You have done a LOT of flying in a short space of time and are clearly pushing the envelope for your skill level, whilst also progressing fast. It's a brave thing to post a video of your failures - well done for that. And it is very entertaining! I wish you all the best of luck and hope that you don't push it TOO far. Remember it is a very dangerous sport, even more dangerous with all these special tricks you do.

      @@samu.fliagn Hello my friend, i went to the training hill for the first time in october 2022 and got my paragliding licence in january 2023. I started experementing with spins, stalls and helis soon after and joined the acro club in july 2023, where my acro journey began. My tip would be to fly a lot, and don't get frustrated when a maneuver doesn't work the way you want. Failure is part of the process, and its almost necessairy to learn how to do it right. But when things get out of controll and you have to use your rescue, you proabably flew over your skill level. Don't hesitate to throw your recue, you paid for it and it was made to be used :). It is natural to always want to fly the next maneuver, but always ask yourself if you are truly ready and always try it in a safe environment. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
