oh my god dude, that was fuckin awesome! Actually revisited this album recently and was wishing that there were tabs, for this song specifically. Didn't even consider in my mind to try to learn it by ear because I assumed no way for me. You nailed it man.

Depends on what section you're talking about 😜 But bassicaly all the punchy 8th notes are downpicked. But when it sounds groovy, I alternate pick them. Hope this helps 👍
