Road Atlanta Race with WERA, my redemption, or so I thought.
Motorcycle racing at Road Atlanta with WERA on my Honda CBR 600RR. I felt good coming in to the race, but clutch issues changed that feeling.

@@619WISHY 💪🏾thank you.
Torque specs???
Not gonna lie… and I DO NOT recommend. But I don’t torque them. I just tighten until I feel they are tight enough. So far it has worked for me.
@@Super-Bike-Joe but the torque specs are in a manual that I have, I just don’t use 😂
Dude, this was one hell of a comprehensive review! Good job! Myself, I have the Shoei X15. I have a large oval head so I rock the xl. Fits really well, runs cool, and definitely a bit loud. Ive never had the pleasure to try an Arai, but your review helps get an idea of how they all compare. Keep up the quality vids and thanks for putting in the work for this!
Dude.. Thank you for the compliment and the comprehensive comment Lol.. but seriously, thanks and you are more than welcome.. the vid was a lot of work. im glad you enjoyed it.. and the X15 is a solid choice...
Thank you for the layman’s most comprehensive review I’ve found on UA-cam! I opted for the Shoei X-15 as my daily and track-day lid!
you are welcome... and thank you for watching and commenting. the x-15 is a solid choice, it was my favorite before the R10.
O no! Was this at Barber? What happened?
😢
I know.. 😩
I love it bro, I just cheer up IMMEDIATELY when I open UA-cam and your videos pop up!
much appreciated as always man... I love hearing things like this..
Ah man a blown engine sucks this time of year.😮
it sucks any time of the year..
41, actually shopping for my first bike now. Looking to do exactly the same thing! Never had a chance to race anything as a kid, I'm damn sure going to try my chance at it too! If I can get the pace I'll be there! Oh yeah first video, I hit the like and subscribe... I'll definitely be tuning in broski!
thank you very much and I am looking forward to seeing what you do on the track.. you have no videos yet, but I just because your second sub.. post some vids..
You’re inspiring a lot of riders bro…. Keep pushing and be safe
yo, on the real.. thank you very much. comments like this actually do mean something to me. even though im not getting any money from this UA-cam thing, your comment lets me know that its not for nothing..
@@smithshotracing for sure…. Because ppl are scared they’re not sharing their experiences so we think it may not be possible and not even try… Next season I’m full throttle because of you bro…
Where did you get the fairings from
I did a vid on it, I want to say that I listed the link in the bio of that video.. ua-cam.com/video/o925sw0pEec/v-deo.html

Nice, what colors did you paint yours?

Check the dogs on the gears...getting a false neutral at top end can be dangerous. Aggressive track riding can wear the dogs out and cause this. Personally though I've found slightly adjusting the shifter down so my toe has to pull up less to fully engage works as well. Or switch it up completely and go GP style so you're pushing down to shift up. That's a good way to make sure it sticks every time. Riding for 30 years (damn I'm old) I could never get used to shifting opposite though. May work for you? Being in Chicago I've only made it as far south as Barber....but I've heard (and looking at your video) I need to make the trip to Road Atlanta happen.
I don't even know where to begin to check them.
@@smithshotracing They are the interlocking teeth in the transmission which connect the gears. Aggressive riding like is done on the track with quick shifts wears them down because often they are expected to handle the torque of the next gear without bein fully engaged. In your case I would first try to adjust your rear-set toe shifter down so your foot has more range of motion in the pull and ensure each shift is fully engaged. Or try switching up to MotoGP style so your literally stomping down into upper gears. I've heard it's cool...I'm just an old dog who can't learn new tricks.
Dude I hope that you don't go to the track alone. I crashed in 99' at Carolina Motorsport park . I was by myself and crashed and ended up in the hospital 9 hrs from home and didn't remember my name the first day in the hospital. ..
not gonna lie, sometimes I go alone.. and I do understand why that's a bad thing. I had a bad crash a few years and ended up in the hospital overnight...
@@smithshotracing I crashed racing mini Motard once. I broke my finger and had to drive in pain 4 hrs home. . Yea man try to talk someone in to going with you. I am an old dude now and I go Kayaking alone and MTB alone. My son who is in thirties now got married so he can't go racing or hanging out with the old man anymore. And I have been single for decades now. I gotta get some friends. Young bro be careful and take someone to the track with you
@@d.d.sarason8749 will do..
Great track.
it is a fun but difficult track..
I recommend doing a full weekend at roebling with n2 trackdays. Roebling is a cheaper track but you need confidence to ride that track quick. It is in savannah ga.
ive never been there before, I might have to check its out.
Bro youre popping up for all my videos. My next youtube search will be how to rebuild a carb, watch you have a vid.
funny thing, im replacing my clutch plates this week. so I might make a vid about that..

Hey man I think we have similar music taste. I think you would like anything done by the BadBrains DC Hardcore. Ok stay safe and fast.
I never heard of Bad Brains.. I just looked them up and they aren't bad at all. I wish back then I was aware of them to see them. I can tell that Nirvana drew inspiration from them, they sound similar.
How About some DC Go Go. Try some Rare Essence and Backyard.or that Bounce Beat bands TCB. Reaction band

Great video and it's nice to see more brothers racing at a high level. I just would have chosen other music.....
@@JLUnlimited 😂 I won’t consider my self high level at all. I’m still a mid pack novice. As for the music, I plan to mix it up a bit. But understand that most of my viewers are a certain demographic But, what would you suggest?
Dude I have been the only black dude at the track many times in the early 90s. . Now in my late 50s ( I don't race anymore)I have flat tracked and was the brother. I have Supermoto and was the only brother. I still Drag race occasionally but it's always as many brothers as anyone else. I also Kayak and MTB. And was almost always the only brother. Very cool vid, love seeing the skills develop! 🦾👍🫡🥷🏽🚀❤️🔥💃🏻
@@Niobium23 thanks a lot man.
This was super helpful. I didn’t realize how easy it was
yeah, its that simple.. yeah, its a 1 minute short, but its more than 5 minutes.
Said you crashed earlier Looked to be shifter side. Probably bent shift rod, binding passing thru engine case bore hole. Go ahead upgrade shift spring kit, positive shifts.
I might have to look into that. how much are they?
Guessing shift rod, less than $100. Can buy used ebay, but might be slightly bent also, if from previous wreck parts bike. Probably best to buy shift rod new. Problem when shifter hits ground, it bends shift rod, holding the shifter lever. . Shift kit should be $100 or less. Just a more heavy duty spring, that rotates shift drum. More positive shifts.
@@johnrambo1227 thank you..
Can't watch your video 😔 with that playing
the music is only on for the first lap. after that you can hear the bike.
Kill that music It's terrible let's listen to the Motor of the Machine I don't know Why u think It's Cool.i ts Crazy and makes everyone that listens to that Crazy
because it is cool. but its not making anyone crazy. but its only on for like a minute.
If you close some or all of the vents in the r10 would that reduce noise?
not gonna lie, im not sure. but I have a track day next week, ill let you know then.
@@smithshotracing appreciate it! Sucks you say the build quality is lacking when the company is like it’s FIM approved and all. Makes me wonder if they’re conning of whatnot. 🥲
@@SHD_Agent6514 the build issues I pointed out with the vent closures, I doubt they have anything to do with safety. they do feel flimsy, but the helmet as a whole, feels solid and 100% safe.
Pretty good with the late breaking....keep up the good work bro
Thanks man... but yeah, the one thing im good at is on the brakes, now I just need to work on everything else lol

On the start...first turn. You dont really need to brake. You will gain 4 or 5 spots by do that
thanks, I will keep that in mind for next time..
Road atlanta was my favorite track. Well..before losing gravity cavity and changing other parts. It was a blast.
damn, that's over 20 years ago. I never rode it back then, but I have seen videos.
Glad to see your having fun again!
despite that turn 1 mishap, it was a fun race..
@@smithshotracing I have a question about that, would a slipper clutch reduce the chances of getting caught in between gears? Had an issue myself on track with the same problem.
@@forestedelman2020 no, a slipper clutch will not reduce the odds of hitting a false neutral.
