Framing and electrical update
Переглядів 3173 місяці тому
Hi everyone thanks for the kind and encouraging words! Just a little update - a lot happened this summer! A reminder that I don’t make these videos for production value and for the masses to make money - it’s a nice way to update friends and family. So…if the algorithm sent you my way, lovely to have you and I hope it’s helpful and interesting, and il not, there’s lots of great natural building...
Concrete stain and what to do w buttresses.
Переглядів 1,7 тис.4 місяці тому
So excited to see the finished stained look and have a floor in! It’s incredible to see how hard the professionals work to pour and finish a floor. Correction for builders interested in staining: In the video I said it took 8-10, 2-gal sprayer buckets to stain. It was actually closer to 5-6. And I think I might have to get on hands and knees and use a sponge to get that final residue off.
Concrete slab poured!
Переглядів 8844 місяці тому
The 4” slab was poured with a line pump in about two hours, and it took about five guys about 4 hours to trowel and finish the floor. I’m so amazed at how skilled they are how how hard that work is. They were all so nice. I’m going to stain with CuSO4 to add a nice turquoise color. I will upload a video to show the finished result explain the process and materials when it’s finished. The concre...

Underground plumbing approved!

It takes lots of talented and generous people to build a house. I’m so grateful for Eric and Troy Kauffman. They did a fabulous job! I just made sure they could get their job done, and learned a ton watching them. So cool to see how water flows in a house, I’ve never seen that before.

We skirted the berm with 6mil plastic inserted under the flashing of the roof and coming down about halfway down the berm. Then we covered it manually with a layer of dirt so the machine could then go over it. We added over a foot of dirt on top of the plastic.
Tire bales: retaining walls and raising the berm up
Переглядів 5427 місяців тому
Thanks to Stacy with Ace In Your Pocket and Greg with Riverbend Co, we’re getting the wing walls raised, retaining walls around the cooling tubes, and finishing the berm in the next two weeks! I was in need of an alternative to pounding more tires and the tired bales worked great. I was also in need of a machine and operator that could get this berm up - it was way beyond my skill level and ren...

This is a very interesting build. Definitely subscribed!!!
Angela, you amaze me with this project! So happy to see the progress and love hearing about the details of decisions you have to make every step! Great work and congratulations! ❤
Nice@ Bucket line!
Angela, it's so amazing to see it come together! You have worked so hard on this place, and you will be soooo satisfied when you move in finally! Looking forward to see how you do the tire packout
That’s my girl
Looking great Angela! Hope you're staying warm down there! Love the 7ft tall shower head... I'm 6 3' and did my shower the same way since I'm always bending over on most normal showers. lol Also me Matt and Goldie also got a rooftop precipitation permit to collect unlimited amount of rainwater... and we aren't zoned rural. Unlike you since you have 35 acres or more we can only use it for "domestic use"... so no outside gardening water legally at least but can use it for anything inside the single primary residence. Love seeing your progress videos and excited for you!
Oh - that's a great clarification! Thank you for that! And thanks for the encouragement as always.
Woooo hoooo!! 🎉 look at this beauty coming to life!!!!
Nice. Did you use an open floor joist for the roof trusses?? Please say yes.
А потом удивляются откуда 🤷 там столько больных онкологией 😱
Just found you. I look forward to watch the rest of the progress.....subscribed. Looks great.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Earth ship is nice Needs some light tubes 😊
Earthships are made from lots of rubber, lots of wood, tons of concrete, lots of old cans, lots of old bottles, and lots and lots of labor. Please correct me if I am wrong. If you want to build a house that is cheap, easy, fast, then use rammed earth. No pounding dirt into old toxic tires.
Killin it! Good job Angela!
Oh wow, coming along so far!! Much easier to imagine all the space with your descriptions!! Love the gold leaf idea and the lovely bookshelf with a fabric wall - brilliant! Can surely hook you up with some fabric of your choice! 😊❤
water rinsing wasn't an option?
Woo hoo! How exciting!
Someone messed up and made your walls out of used tires.
Even though it's boring I'm still don't like and subscribe and comment and share this
Thanks for creating all of these videos documenting your Earthship journey. It is great to learn about peoples hand's on experiences. I did find this video EXTREMELY hard to watch though. Panning the camera around so fast on the varied floor texture and colouring was enough to literally give me a headache. I had to scroll past the video and listen to what you were saying.
you ought to change your title. infers there's stain involved and there wasn't.
Looks amazing. Those buttresses take on a personality of their own 🤗
Looking great Angela! And yes very exciting!
Ya I remember them saying something along the lines of "It takes a LOT of dirt to make a berm, so be ready for that." It's hard to teach I suppose also as you mentioned for the many types of back fill one may end up with. I spent 8 days on a bulldozer creating a giant clay pile for the berm and it still doesn't seem quite as much as ideal for a more gradual slope - my berm is about 35+feet at the north side and still quite steep. Currently prepping to do an thermal umbrella style 15-20 feet out from the walls in the Passive Annual Heat Storage style. This type of umbrella would work for sand as the plastic and insulation would create a bit of a barrier to hold some of the sand under it in and keep water from flowing through the berm. A smooth gravel/river run/etc. as you mentioned may be ideal for capping it in place. In permaculture it is often talked about dumping massive amounts of organic matter on an area which ends up being sponge like with water and sustains plant life well - likely would work well on a sandy berm. Oh I see a good comment related as well from Owner Builder Dudes.
Looks good. Do you have more info on the system used to cap the windows? Looking at doing the same from the same company.
@@T0MME0 yeah I love these mullion caps and they are very easy to work with. I sourced them from a guy out east and he mailed them to me promptly. I’ll look for the name again.
@@openwingearthship3662 If they are what I think they are, I'm chatting with him already from NY. Was more interested in if you had any video of putting them in? Build is looking pretty sweet btw. I'm on course 10 currently of my own.
yup that’s the guy. I don’t have a video of install. Congrats on your progress as well! So awesome and inspiring to hear of others on the journey!
@@openwingearthship3662 Thank you, same to you as well. It helps seeing progress videos of others doing it, makes the decisions easier. I'm a little more shy in sharing my work in public.
Amazing!!
Hard work! Looks like a pain in the buttress
Great job Angela!
👍
Wow. Yea probably don't need the buttress work but I still agree with you on making sure. Planning ahead is always key with as much work as you have in it already. Looking great!
Exactly the thought. Thank you again!
Huge! Congrats!
Thanks for the update! Amazing amount of work and consideration going into each step and stage of the process. Great work! ❤
Thank you so much, dear friend! Im grateful you are here to witness! ❤
Congratulations!🎉
So excited for you. You've done a lot of methodical work on this & it draws me back giddy with every update. Interesting drain you got there for sure
Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot!
That looks so great! Wonderful to see it coming together. Can't wait to get back down there. Love those clouds rolling over the sky.
So cool to see it being built and all the people moving around doing wonderful work! 😊❤
Amazing progress and awesome team! ❤. Love the movements of the clouds above.
Awesome time lapse!
Love it! Way to finish up that berm
Awesome! Love the progress
So great to be there and witness the progress and help a tad.
Nice tire bales! Good job Angela!
Amazing progress!!
Oh wow! Thanks for commenting. How do you like the performance of the bales overall in terms of thermal mass retention?
We are near Trinidad. Our E.S. is tire bales 100 % purchased from Fountain Co. 22 yrs ago! Excited for your build! ❤
❤
Looking great, good work, are those tire bales.
yeah building all those tires makes my back hurt just looking at it :)
this is awesome! y'all are doing it! looks like a lot of work
looks great!
