Hi and welcome to my channel.
I am based in the south-east coast UK and as you could guess from the name I like to use light and compact fishing gear.
I will be doing some equipment reviews and lots of fishing, both fresh and saltwater, so stay tuned and of course if you like my videos, then please subscribe for more!

Beach Lure Bass Fishing Session (Shore Angling UK)

A nice little bass angling session on the beach with my in-laws. Unfortunately the weather got worse and we had to keep it short. None the less we were all happy with the results. Thank you for watching and tight lines!
Bass At Dawn (beach lure fishing uk)

It was a fantastic morning, with all the action an angler could ask for. Even though the majority of the bass were only schoolies, they produced a great fight on light tackle. Luckily, in the end I managed to bag a legal sized fish for the table (to keep the family happy) :) Gear used: Alpha Tackle TRGR 5-20gr 8’6”ML telescopic rod; Okuma Epixor XT 30 reel; Kastking 10lb braid; Berkeley Trilene...

A tough day fishing where sometimes the micro spoon is almost as big as the fish you catch! Oh but the weather was lovely...by the way :) Disclaimer: No music, only nature sounds!
A Short UL Perch Fishing Session
Переглядів 16 тис.7 років тому
A short ultra-light perch fishing video, where I have taken my new compact and short (only 3'8") rod for performance testing on the local lake. The very compact Major Craft Finetail Stream FTT-384UL model trout rod proved to be quite strong for its size and sensitive enough to be able to pick up the bites from the perch. As you could see, at one point I managed to hook into a small pike for whi...
Great video again guys, well done. I take it you have a maps card for the Hook Reveal, if so what one are you using ?
whats a good travel rod for all round sea lure fishing for 30£? like just a casting weight of like 40 or 50 grams
👌🙂
Hi, great video! I was wondering why you are opting only on telescopic rods, not on multi-peace (4-5 peaces) travel rods? Thanks for advice.
@@nikolayhristov4864 Hi! It’s a personal preference and convenience. I use to have a few 2-3 piece rods before and I did liked them. However the telescopic rods (especially the good quality ones) are much better for traveling and quicker to deploy. I have a simple and minimalistic approach I guess😀🎣🌊
@@compactangleryeah, I feel exactly the same, telescopic rods are much easier to deploy. It's more convenient to carry one solid piece, rather than 4-5 pieces 😊. I'm just wondering if telescopic rods are less sensitive compared to multi pieces ones in equal conditions?
@@nikolayhristov4864 Yes, that’s what they usually say. But If you can get good quality rods, the difference in sensitivity is minimal.
Hi got first time in many years I’m heading over to Greece Zante I’m taking my travel LRF rod hopefully to do some beach and rock fishing are the any regulations I need to be aware off any advice would be appreciated thanks
@@Kernow-lerf Hi, sorry for the late reply. You can fish freely anywhere as far as I know. There are only size limits if you want to keep the fish.
Hi mate what area is this. Please if you can answer it will be great.👌

I did not mind sharing but I just could not believe his cheek it was so funny
I was eating a roll on Hastings beach and a dog just walks up to me and bit half of it off of me I could not stop laughing
Hi, I was just wondering what lures would you reccomend for bass in really bad water clarity like Bristol Channel or would you just need bait
@@Twisty_FnHi, I would recommend high visibility lure colours like chartreuse or lime. A rattle and/or a vibrating swim pattern it is a big plus also. Hope it helps.
Wonderful video. Just curious, do foreign visitors need a fishing license to cast into the ocean? Are there size limits on certain fish?
@@ch1ckenphat514 Hi, you don’t need a fishing license to fish, but there are minimum size limits.
@@compactangler thank you for the information, I'll have to look into it a little further.
Love the channel bro ! Just subscribed to the channel ❤ have a peak at some of our missions out in New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thanks mate! I’ll take a look for sure👍
Brilliant 👍. I'm heading to pefkos later in July and taking some travel rods and my Shimano OC 8000s. Is it better to lure fish from the beach? Or does bait fishing work as good please? Any tips would be greatly appreciated please as I'm generally a fresh water/lake angler
I think given the right circumstances both work well. If you want to fish with baits, make sure you have access to deep water…bait fishing will work better. Personally I like lure fishing more, so that’s my preference. Have a great trip and tight lines!
@@compactangler I'll definitely bring some lures with me then thank you. Hopefully find some deeper water to go at while I'm there. I looked at some boat trips but they looked expensive for just a few hours. I have a week to find some spots anyway. Thank you for your reply 👍 tight lines
are there any aliexpress alternatives to these
Probably yes, but I wouldn’t trust the quality on the long run.
Purelure has some good telescopic rods on ali
nice fishing 👍 where is this place?
Where was this
What a corker! I bet that’s a rare occurrence. A beautiful Bass for supper. You can’t beat that.
Dude I love your setups, those rods are sick !
Great video
OMG Unluckly . 😵💫 However , very nice video and fishing advanture . ! ✌
Because of this video, I bought the Prox Micro SALT 70MLTC, so thanks for the tips! I'm keen on also getting their Prox Viceo Tele shorty which seems to be an ultra compact rod perfect for my car but it's out of stock everywhere :(
You’re welcome mate, tight lines! P.S: Good luck with the Prox Viceo🤞
What bite trace where you using?? Awesome video
Hey thanks, I used 6lb fluorocarbon if I remember correctly.
@@compactangler that’s enough for those toothy fish???
@@PhillmcCrakin I’m fishing with a light/ultralight setup in this video, so there’s no need for trace wires…although you could be right too as there is always a possibility for a barracuda to be lurking around.
Hi, I'm planning to upgrade some travel fishing gear for next season and need help to choose between Alpha Tackle and Prox Micro Salt SE Rod range ^^. Please suggest what the best value for money will be.
Hi Marco, alpha tackle rods are faster action rods than Prox rods, so they are more sensitive, on the other hand Prox rods are more compact and easy to pack. They are both great rods, but if I was to pick one to carry around it would be the Prox. Hope I could help, tight lines!
@@compactangler thank you 👍😄
@@Marco_Polo790 You’re welcome. Also, if you are planning to do light jigging and not just lure fishing, the Prox is slightly better at that too. I use Alpha tackle when I need to cast longer and need that extra bit of finesse for the lures.
@@compactangler Prox sound a bit better option for me I was planning to do mostly Rivers/canals,ponds jigging and once a while sea lure fishing max up to 20g 6/7ft long portable set
@@Marco_Polo790 Then yes, Prox seems like the best option for you 👍
Puts one single on his lure then proceeds to use bogs grips on a pike😂
nice video :) that is a blue runner you got there :)
Thanks!
Hey man I was just wondering how the action on that UL Daiwa BBB rod was….Ive been looking at the Major Craft Trapara UL telescopic rod….wasnt sure if the telescopic aspect kills the sensitivity!! Thanks
Hey, I've got the Daiwa bbb back when the tele UL rods were quite uncommon. Still, I can tell you for sure that it is really an excellent fast action rod. Obviously, it's not going to beat the super fast multi-piece rods. Then again, you will have to decide what are your priorities: mobility or sensitivity, or a bit of both. Love Major Craft too, only wish they would produce more telescopic rods. Thanks and happy fishing!
wat details is on yr rod braid n lure pls tnks appreciate it n luv yr video just getting started in lure fishing pls
Watch the video again, but this time, pay attention! 😮
Nice bass! Good to see someone catch and eat it looks yummy!
That was an absolutely brilliant bit of skill walking the fish in like that ... 👏 👌
Thank you 😊
@compactangler caughtt my first bass, south east coast ireland , small but nice !
@@wittywoo9559 congratulations 🥳 what lure did you use?
@@compactangler I was using rag on a 2hook flapper with weight .. I just recently got some rubber lures for the spinning ..!!
Where did you get them? 😊
Got them from ebay🙂
@@compactangler great as I couldn't find any on Amazon 👍
Amazing Chanel 👏 can yo please make video about your favourite lure /spinners 😁
I will👍
where is the location mate?
Hey, do you find more success fishing first light, mornings, afternoon, or in the evening? I’m new to this type of fishing so still getting my head around when’s the best time to fish for bass.
Usually mornings and evenings produce better results 👍
Something fishy going on ere 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣…… That pooch obviously wanted them more than you 🤣🤣🤣….. You could be the next dog whisperer 👍👍👍 Some lovely fish caught and what a cracking place …… well done buddy and looks like you’ve got yourself a new fishing partner 🤪😁🥰👍🎣
🤣Thanks John. Yes I’m afraid I got a “returning customer”🤣
Dog fish can be a real nuisance 😂 love your videos mate and the thumbnails really helpful. Caught a sea gull once on Hastings beach quite embarrassing, playing a catch from the sky 😂
Thanks mate👍Oh yes seagulls..caught a few myself, they seem to be very attracted to top water lures🤣
Hey guys, have you had any inconvenience while fishing, or is it just me, lol?
How did you tie your leader to mainline ? Knot or swivel link
I used the “albright knot”
Fantastic beach. Where is? And very good BBQ🎉🎉
Thanks, it’s near Skala in Kefalonia.
I’ve just been to Kefalonia for two weeks only had success on the float and a little fiish black minnow caught one little painted comber but not on any bigger lures sadly
Sometimes fish just don’t want to bite. Better luck next time🤞
Lovely bass mate how long to cook on the Weber.?
Hi, I cook it for 40minutes on indirect fire, then grill it over direct fire for 10 minutes each side. All this depends on the size of the fish. Thanks for watching👍
@@compactangler 👍
You alright mate is this herne bay
Hi mate, nice catch. Where about is this place?
where?
It's an old video so don't know if you'll reply but was wondering what distance we're you casting? I have been told many times that on a choppy day aim for the 3rd wave out but I've also seen people launching lures as far as possible and hooking almost instantly at over 100 yards, also would you say bait or lure has a better chance if you had to choose?
Hi, I was casting about 40-60 metres out. When the bass is actively hunting baitfish no need to cast farther than that. Choppy waters and in late season, you might want to make longer casts only because the fish is moving back to deeper waters. My preferred method is lures, but bait can work really well in springtime when bass feeds mostly on peelers, sand-eels and lugworms. Hope I could help, tight lines!
Thanks man that's really helpful cuz we have a couple of beaches I've been told hold bass but I didn't know how to approach them but I've got it covered as I stocked up on plenty of lures over the winter, nice rubber sandeels and side winders with a weight n hook already in the sandeel type lure so I'll give it a go and I'll let you know how I get on, thx again 😀
@@robbieallan6522 Great, let me know how it went, good luck🤞
Hello mate. I live in Bognor Regis and have the same fishing conditions but haven't caught a single bass(
