Yanmar repower, original Cub Cadet in motion
My CCO named Knocks a lot, with the Yanmar at idle pulling my little wood trailer up an incline in first gear. Have you ever been run over by a cub cadet? Now you have. TWICE..This is my repower project in motion. SPECIAL THANKS TO MY TRACTOR FORUM.COM

This is my CCo named Knocks a lot. I bought this Cub not running no spark, the points wire was grounding out on the points cover. Fixed that started it up and she knocks bad. But I was able to dial the linkages in and get the machine shifting and moving on its own power . Oil change showed metal flakes in the oil engine needs a rebuild or repower.

This is one of two tractors I bought, this one is a 63 IH Cub Cadet with a good running engine that smokes like crazy. It drives great, it was painted by the PO with a spray can but it looks ok. I bought this running for $200 and it needed a carb cleaning and some adjustments done, now she's a beast. The choke was halfway on during this vid, WHOOPS

Here is my newest engine, I bought it not running with generator not running for $80, Cleaned the carb, sanded points, changed oil, and cleaned air filter oil reservoir. Now it runs very nice. I am looking for any info on this 1955 3KW Fermont generator coupled to a 1955 briggs 23FB, I think it is a military item but not sure. ENJOY THE VID

I say cold start on the vid, I mean fresh start, the outdoor temp for this vid was 78* F. Yanmar has more hours but is quieter even without any exhaust pipe than the China clone (a lot of the china diesel noise could be from the generator head). I usually let engines warm up before reving but I wanted to show the exhaust difference cold.

Second start and run my 9 horse diesel. First start was not captured on video. After 3 years of not being ran I primed the fuel lines and the Yanmar took off. This is my first youtube vid, thanks for watching

I have a 186FA clone engine in my generator. It was running this year for long periods of time ~10h a day or sometimes even more. Its very loud but there is no smoke while the engine is running. Your smoke is fuel related (at least mine was, i get premium diesel and it does not smoke at all and can start on cold mornings). Its ok for the price

The smoke and knock has nowt to do with it being a China clone its because of the shit quality diesel fuel in the USA. Thats why these engines are banded in the US. They run sweet and clean in the UK and the EU they are just loud. You can advance and retard the timing by removing or adding shims on the injector pump.

tacosteelersman-I have the exact same generator in my barn. Model:3GGS.S1. Im working to try and get it running. IDK if the set is any good. The engine had issues when I first started on it. The voltmeter is missing as it was broken when I first started on it. I have some snaps I can share if you desire...

Yanmar makes fine diesel engines, this is one of them. I wondered about the starting method and that belt, lot's of potential there for a good slap on the bare arms etc. On that subject of the line in your teeth drooping across the flywheel/pulley/drill and belt,...oh well, you can figure out the rest!!!

Do the easy stuff first. Check engine oil, air filter, and make sure it has fuel. Confirm fuel shut off is in the on positionLoosen the fuel line at the injector and hold down the compression release leverTurn engine over till fuel is leaking out of the loose connection. Tighten connection and start it up.

your Chinese one is exactly the same as my one, mine run good every day until I stoped using it back in October now it won't start at all,but I did get it going with easy start once, run it for an hour stopped let it cool and tried to start it again but nothing...just keeps cranking but not firing up..anyone got any ideas why it won't start ?

  • @davethomas9846
    @davethomas9846 7 років тому

I'm guessing you mean fuel oil, it sipps fuel, I can not give you an accurate guess on the usage. I can say it is very little. It does not use any engine oil at all.

Once that wheel started spinning after ignition, that loose belt posed SERIOUS safety problems, and it was connected to you through that drill and pulley. Not to mention there was some kind of loose twine or something also in the picture. This is Darwin Award winning stuff here!

The Yanmar is far superior, the clone leaks oil but still runs good. I have 0 complaints about the Yanmar it runs great and is great. Of course it is mounted on my cub cadet original so it gets run time.

I'm not sure how hard it is on the transmission and I'm not worried about it. So far I have had no problems at all. An old starter generator might have enough power to turn it over. I will have to try that when I find some time to tinker with it. Thanks for the comments.

  • @Boggess6969

Since the motors running so much faster than the transmission is that hard on the transmission. I have a Cub Cadet 104 that I am looking to put a 10 horsepower diesel on.

Great little engines those. It's a pitty though that they don't run too well at low RPMs. I have one on a concrete mixer and its minimum idle is about 2000rpm. Your runs very well, perhaps the inertia of the extra pulley allows this to run so low. You should definitely enter this in a diesel "how low can you go" competition. Your accent is cool. Where are you from? Canada?

  • @1997cr80r
