If this is on PC, better get the mods, the cutscenes kinda got hurt in Battle compared to the Dreamcast version. Not only that, many glitches and issues not present in other versions.

But if you're going to use it, it's probably best not to have any draw power cards, e.g. Bill, Professor Oak, etc. I recommend pairing it with lots of Switch and Pokemon Trader cards. Basically, when you use it to return a multi-stage evolution with a bunch of energies, you can end up having more cards in your deck than your opponent. That way, if they keep stalling you, in time, they'll lose due to running out of cards. I've found it to be niche and situational. YMMV.

Why would they ban it if all it does is allow you to draw 2 cards? Because, in reality, it was a single-card alternate win condition. Sort of like Exodia. But with Exodia, you had to draw all 5 pieces. With Pot of Greed, as soon as you drew it, you immediately won the duel. There's nothing like that in Pokemon. The closest thing is probably Gust of Wind. Or, depending on your accent, you might pronounce it, "Gust of Win." But it's still not a single card alternate win condition. If you were one prize card away from victory, and your opponent retreated a Pokemon that was about to get knocked out, and they're cockblocking you with a resistant Pokemon (and/or one with a massive HP), you can get around it. But it's highly, highly conditional that this one card facilitates your victory.

The way you played the last game is so agonizing. You aren’t supposed to incentivize the opponent to put side or corner pieces. Even if it is low in point value, you always should prioritize corners and sides when it is a standalone piece - by that, I mean impossible to flip in 1 turn.
