7:20 I can see me. 😊
I'd love to go on a Bournemouth trolleybus again for the first time in 58 years. What a stupid thing we did getting rid of 'green' transport 🙄
WW2 1939-1945.
Don't forget to visit Framlingham Castle & Orford Castle.

A Really Useful Railway.
All aboard. All aboard. Enjoy the ride.
This is one of the sets I look after in Stowmarket!
I was stood on almost the same spot about a month ago. We spent the morning there and then went for afternoon tea at Betty's in Harrogate
We visited Betty's in Harrogate during our visit in September as well.
The first bridge collapsed when it was nearly complete. The sound of falling masonry went on for 5 minutes, which would have been quite scary in 1848 (when people were god fearing!).
The 1st bridge wasn't the best example of 'Victorian Engineering'. Looking at wiki, bad workmanship, poor materials & excess water in the swollen river were the causes.
Buffers dont like to be eaten
Superb footage, what luck! Glad you enjoyed the show. Here is my aerial footage. Hope you like it: ua-cam.com/video/wWu3Vu-tBcI/v-deo.html
Coming in hot!
Visited the NNR many times, lovely railway. I have found some of the platform staff are a bit over enthusiastic at playing the rude and aggressive staff you often found in BR days.
I last visited almost 50yrs ago when Oliver Cromwell, the Duchess and the n/g Garrett were there. There was more than one Terrier tank too.
Very nice video, Tom from HUNGARY 👍👍👍❤🤍💚
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed watching.
@@norfolkngauge ❤🤍💚
how can they let that happen - terrible!
I remember catching a much larger hovercraft across the channel to France in the 1970
Me too and my goodness was it rough!
You were lucky that it was such a smooth crossing that day, I have seen some pretty bumpy rides across there, great video though.
I've heard it can be bad. Luckily it was a calm day.
What kind of driving is this, can't you judge distance, or were you distracted? Hahahaha, good thing it was approaching very slowly!
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
37s passing each other at York in this day in age wow 😮👍🏻👍🏻
It was unexpected as the RHTT was running nearly an hour late
Some fantastic footage there for sure. Nice work & thanks for posting.
Many thanks
1 37 out 2 in
The timing of the 2 37s arriving after Caroline & the 1st 37 departed was a pleasant surprise.
Certainly a very productive half hour at York. Excellent video and channel. 👍
Many thanks
Amazing station.
Would've been impressive back when the Gresley A4 Pacific expresses ran through.
@@norfolkngauge yep, but the architecture and construction still holds:)
Absolutely
I have an N gauge model of 37 116, but in BR Blue (Large Logo).
I have the same model. I think it was a Farish regional exclusive.
@@norfolkngauge Yes, it was.
4:32 they turn the bridge for one boat? Great. Please let the info stay some seconds more; remember one can't watch while trying to read.
Thanks for watching
Nice video.
Don't forget the two other swing bridges we had at Haddiscoe and Beccles on the old Beccles to Gt Yarmouth line. So at one point we had six!
Sutton Bridge also carried the railway on one side until 1959
Good video, thank you for sharing
B1 immediately after hitting the buffers: IT FUCKING TOUCHED ME!!!
I was fortunate enough to see 32424 up and close about a month ago (unfortunately I didn't get to ride behind it).. looked even more amazing than I thought it would
From the Sunday I was Wymondham signaller looking after token machine etc.
Top gear. Top ten favorite show
Any other advanced European economy would've built a rail tunnel to the island by now. Not 'Great' Britain. Ffs.
Excellent film, thank you for it. I always think about the swing bridges when stuck at Sutton Bridge in the A17. There was yet another one on the Southwold Railway across the River Blyth, long gone although the present footbridge is a reminder of it.
A lot of money has been spent on keeping the line open, and it seems it’s still requiring more money spent. Sometimes you have to admit defeat and maybe is time to close the line. Having spent many happy times on the Isle of Wight and used the line regularly it pains me to say it but enough is enough the line is closed more times then it’s open.
That's a very long paid holiday for many railway staff and train crews!!
I love the Isle of Wight and everything about it. How many places can boast a pier with both a railway station AND and a car park at the seaward end of it?
Beautifully researched and presented, thank you very much!
Is it closing for good?
Not for good but quite a long time for repair work. It's advertised that the rail line to Ryde Pier Head is expected to be closed until at least May '25.
Read the desrcription
Oh How Free The People Are There. Away from cities too much traffic etc.
Absolutely Beautiful. Locations Trains Birds Singing Just What I Need . Thanks 👍🛤️🚆😊
Thanks Highlighter 👋
I take it the overhead line on the bridge is a neutral section, or is it a fully energised section?
It's powered, but the section over the bridge is a fixed rail with the wires terminating either side.
Ok, I learnt something here lol, only ever think of Reedham totally overlooked other three!
Years ago we had a boat at the Red House in Cantly with "had" being the operative word when a local thought it fine and dandy to chainsaw my almost new Mercury off its transom mounts and for good measure cut a deep hole into the stern causing the boat to sink, handy enough my gangster brother in law was in Haverhill nick doing a long spell and well every rascal, villain and ne'er-do-wells soon started to visit justice on the scumbags who did it and well they lost far more than they ever got for that Mercury engine or the cost of our boat... I rode through the Reedham one on the prow of the sugar ship as I got on well with the sailors and was tempted to take the ship round to Tate & Lyle's Silvertown mooring with them but sadly heart went out of it for me when I saw the river salvage people lifting my poor boat up from the muck and never went back... That sugar ship had a handswidth free space either side, skipper said he used his hands to steer and his clenched cheeks to pray with but he never grazed the bridge at Reedham.
Lovely! What do the red flags on the swing bridges mean?
I've found the following information about the red flags: "Reedham bridge swings on demand when there is one red flag flying from the control box. If two red flags are flying the bridge is inoperable." There were workers on bridge when I filmed so probably the bridge was locked for that reason. www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/navigating-the-broads/water-depths/river-yare#:~:text=Reedham%20bridge%20swings%20on%20demand,if%20a%20train%20is%20imminent
@@norfolkngauge Interesting, thank you!
Fantastic video, beautiful scenery I love swing bridges especially ones that carry railways across them. Fascinating watching one opening & closing & seeing the trains going over them. Awesome close up filming too of the workmen on the bridge, great feats of engineering still working a century later. Enjoyed this video thank you! 😊👍
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
These videos are so fascinating. Loved the Picc line as a kid, going from Uxbridge to South Ken and Covent Garden for the museums. Never get tired of watching these and listening to your commentary. Thanks for sharing your days with us!!
