As the show progressed, Bob would often times seek advice from Jerry by sitting in the dentist chair. Even though he wasn't licensed, Jerry was often times Bob's counselor. Newhart and Bonerz were a great team in those scenes. Peter even directed several of the episodes and after playing Franklin Hart in the early '80s sitcom '9 to 5,' he became a sought after TV director on many sitcoms too numerous to mention.

That's very interesting, similar to Jerry Paris (neighbor on The Dick Van Dyke show who went on to a successful career as a director). Thanks for the info!

Burns was the center of the laughs in that show. Winchester was ok, but Burns was excellent. A temporarily blind Hawkeye needs a doctor. He tells out “I need a doctor here!” Burns comes running up and says “what’s going on here?” Hawkeye replies:”Frank! Thank God you’re here. Get me a Doctor” Hawkeye

They did Frank horribly during his last season. You can tell the writers/producers were petty and vindictive people, look how they killed off Henry Blake because the poor guy wanted more for himself. They couldn't even add respectability to the Frank character but instead made him more buffoonish because the actor was no longer fulfilled playing him.
