15 people in 8 boats running 5 days and 4 nights from Corn Creek to Carey Creek. Flows were mid-level and dropping with 5k at Shoup, 10.5k at Whitebird falling to 8.5k. Weather was great with warm temps in the 90's with nights in the upper 50's. We had a lot of early upriver winds on day 1 and then the usually afternoon upriver winds the rest of the time. Great trip with great people! Camps: Bi...

Joined an 11 boat / 11 person early season permit which ended up with some fun med-high flows at 4.7 feet and dropping on the Paradise gauge. It rained the day before we put in, but then we had sunny warm temps the rest of the time. Great trip, great people and boaters. No flips.

Got an invite from @PrivateWhitewater to join an early June Selway permit trip with 11 total boaters in 11 boats with a mix of cats and round boats. I didn't know anyone going in but they were all great people and strong boaters! Camp time forms great bonds. The Selway at this mid flow is pretty continuous with lots of unnamed rapids and plenty of holes to find. Really fun to read and run so ma...

April 11-14, 2024: 13' Aire Wave Destroyers, Outfitter IK and a Mamba hardshell kayak. Drove to the put-in on a Thursday evening and pulled up to Rome at 7:30pm. The ramp was busy so we unstacked boats, rigged them lightly, launched one at a time and paddled upstream to tie up at camp. Launched on Friday about 9am at 7180cfs, running about 5 miles per hour. Found an abandoned flatwater kayak wi...

Here's a rafting trip report for the Middle Fork Salmon in mid-August 2023 in a 16' Aire round boat and 3 inflatable kayaks loaded relatively lightly: no cooler or drybox. We dealt with 3 big blowouts and logjams on the upper 5 miles and then continued rainfall and thunderstorms from the Hurrican Hillary remnants ending the trip with sunny skies but a dark chocolate river. Flows at the put-in w...

13' Aire Wave Destroyer running the not-recommended middle "line" on Little Falls into the recirculating hole. Flipped them quickly and we picked up the pieces and get them heading downstream again. All is well, except for a lost fishing pole now at the bottom. Lessons may have been learned.

Always an adventure with a 13' Aire Wave Destroyer flipping on Little Falls running the not-a-line middle into the recirc hole. Flipping a couple cats trying to line them through Big Falls. All in all, we had a great time. The only casualty was a fishing pole.

Guidebook says stay left along shore...last year at high water and this year at medium water, we just water scouted it but didn't see a line between the pourover hole, the rock and shore so we took a conservative line from left to center or at that flow you can just run center the whole way. Later in the day camped there, we did watch an outfitter run between the rock and pourover so it can be done and looks fun.

I love this section! It's always good to see the videos of what not to do. For those not familiar with this section it's good to point out what happened here. Both the blue cat and the old puma missed their lines. The guys from the cat need to go back to the Main and learn to self rescue better, that guy trying to swim should have been MUCH MUCH better in that water. And man, the other guy standing up in swift water, in that rocky river, in water over knee deep, is just a huge rookie mistake. Never stand in rocky water you can't crawl in. Cat wasn't rigged to flip either. So many things to learn from in this video. There are 2 primary lines that rafters take, 1 is much farther left next to a kayak boof rock, and the primary rafting line is about 6-8 feet to the right of the Puma. Puma entered the falls on the left on the indicator rock right before the falls, the proper line is to enter to the right of that. The hole in the middle of these falls has a nasty recirc and shouldn't be tempted like these guys are. There are lots of good Canyon videos that show the lines for people looking for them.
