I knew Fr. Davila during my MM College time in Glen Ellyn, 1960-64. He had a small Renault car! He active in rights for the field works for tomato pickers for Campbell Soup. He was an inspirational and amazing priest.

I'm reading All My Eyes See, about 3/4 of the way through, and finding it deeply moving and spiritually helpful. Happy to find this interview.

And has Father Kellerman read the book by Grzegorz Kulik: Catholic Principles of Slavery in the Teaching of the Theologians of the 16th and 17th Centuries (Katolickie zasady niewolnictwa w nauczaniu teologów XVI i XVI wieku)? The book is written in Polish, but the author has examined the works of 92 modern Catholic theologians, not to mention papal bulls and other church regulations, and has provided a very clear description of the Catholic doctrine of slavery, based on the four titles of just enslavement.

For me this has been a providential learning experience coming on the heels of Trump's recent assassination attempt. Hess, in his own defense, says that he was only following orders. Sadly, I pray for Trump because I was ordered to pray, have been told it is our/my duty to pray. Pray that I & all learn love, to pray, act in a manner that reflects the gospel reflection: see how they love one another, no matter their deeds. Loved the thoughts, history lesson, smiles and laughs.

Just what I needed today

So good to see the real Spiritual reality that Jesus taught being correctly presented by a follower of Jesus. I am a Christian pacifist and only read the Gospels. Jesus found the gold nuggets scattered throughout the Old Testament and joined them together to form the One True Divine Loving Creator. He was like a gold panner in a stream of words, who kept the gold and through out the rubbish. I have never thought of myself as a Jeudeo-Christian. I am just a Christian who follows Jesus. I also believe Constantine caused great damage to Christianity when he dragged Jesus and the One Divine Loving Creator back into a dualistic God of the Jews. I wish mainstream denominations would be brave enough to unshakle the old wine and stop mixing it with the new. Keep up the good work, shining the True Way of Jesus and Heaven.
