Actually, I believe they tore the signage down for “Music City Mall” last year. In 2022, it was going to be renamed a third time, to “The Vista.” …which doesn’t really matter, because all the locals will still call it Vista Ridge anyway. Some of the original Vista Ridge signage remained, being hidden by the former Music City signs, rather than just replaced. The only person I know who has ever called it “Music City Mall,” is my own daughter, and only because they somehow heavily marketed UA-cam ads to her.

The size of this elevator had always puzzled me. It must’ve been some regulatory thing. As in, the one by the food court holds the same amount of people together, but being a high traffic area, it made more sense to have two, so some could go down at the same time people went up. Also, what makes the size of this strange is that I saw this mall at its peak successfulness. My mom would sometimes use it if she had a stroller, and there was NEVER anyone else using it. That theater did not exist until like maybe 2006, long after the mall was already in the decline. They used to be located on the first floor, under the food court. They walled it off, and it’s been a sealed time capsule ever since. By the early 2000s, that theater was already dated, with stadium seating being all the rage. It probably made more sense to just abandon it and start from scratch, but even then, the city had 4 movie theaters at the time, 3 of which were blocks from each other. I’m surprised this theater has survived as being the last remaining one. Maybe the update/move WAS worth it. I think they had originally intended for another two story anchor that would go in that spot, but it never did. And this section was actually a second phase, opening possibly a year after the mall did, as the mall originally ended with that Sears. But it went a good 15 or so years before something actually was built there.

My family and I honestly don’t even call it Zion Market. We always refer to it as “the Korean Sears.” “Where would you like to go for dinner?” My daughter will often say “The Korean Sears!” It’s pretty neat, especially if you can see it in and out of the fourth dimension. The food court is where the appliances are. The k-dog and frozen section is in the electronics. The checkout lanes are in hardware, and there’s a French bakery in the tire department of all things. There’s also a really great shabu restaurant outside. Great food… …but it’s very odd realizing they used to change people’s oil in there. My father once took his car there for service back when it would stall in the 90s. This elevator smells like 1989… …and old crayons. It is an eerie experience riding it. It annoys me that the escalators are closed off. Even if they don’t work, they could still be used as stairs… …if it wasn’t blocked by a tenant on the first floor. Zion Market is the only reason anyone goes to this mall, so even when the mall is open (often closes at 7pm!) the 2nd story entrance into the mall is often closed, so you’re forced to use the elevator that looks and feels like it hasn’t been serviced at all this century!

This would be my second favorite elevator at this mall anchor store wise. You should try and film the elevators in parking garage A at one point. There are two Schindler MT’s and one MT/RT in the middle of the garage.
