Really enjoyed this video. Rattle canned several of my own but have never tried this dish soap method. I will have to experiment with this.
It will be stinking up the range burning all that paint off the gas tube. In my opinion leaf makes a way better pattern than a sponge. That being said... I have seen many rifles that look a lot worse. Good job man.

I used the "over oiling" of the important actions, then spraying. Letting dry, then cleaning it thoroughly. Came out with a nice broken-up design.

I give you credit but spray paint and guns doesn't mix. It comes off too easy and its too thick. Cerakote or Duracoat is the way to go.

Fake news!!! People who actually use their guns, use rattle cans. It’s ok if it wears with use. Gives it a battle worn appearance. Go look up military guys who paint guns. They use spray paint like they did in the field. Can’t get cerakote in the jungle or in Iraq

Spend a lot of money on ceracote and get mad when it chips off. Rattle can and save money. When it chips off, rattle can over the chipped area. Good as new.
@@michaelangelo6217 it was like less than $30 for those cans and theres some left to use. Some people just wanna spend money for no reason

We really should have went with the FAL. Could you imagine what the U.S. would have evolved the FAL into. Instead the Garand and m14 pretty much died and was shrunk down into the mini-14. Regardless yhey are all beautiful weapons.
The Australians used the FAL in Vietnam. Personally, I’d take a reliable M16 over it… lighter and you can carry more ammo. Spending time in any AO would makes this an easy choice.

Wood warps in heat and moisture, who wouldve thought the guns would shoot like shit?
The wood had little to do with the weapons performance. The size of the round was too big and made full auto completely un manageable. 7.62x51. An intermediate round was needed. ( something that would bridge the gap between a full sized rifle round and a side arm. The 5.56 was adopted. It is used in the M16 and is currently our main battle rifle)

Why what happened to it?
Long and heavy, woods stocks didn’t do well in the jungle, accuracy especially when in full auto and malfunctions especially in muddy conditions. Was only in Vietnam for four years and was replaced by the ar.
It was heavy complicated and ineffective in the terrain they shortly switched to the Colt AR-15 or what is colloquially known as the M-16 (this gun also sucked initially)
