Ray Davies and the Kinks playing Dave's beautiful tune live in Philadelphia back in the late 80s. One may rightly think that the lyrics do not only refer to the past.

I had a mega strong acid trip in 1974 that was so strong I couldn't get to the record player to turn the record over. I finally ended up having an ego death with amnesia after going through a speeding up series of questions & answers which finally all come down to "There's something about the word 'IT" I couldn't put my finger on & at the time couldn't work out. LMAO
