Granddad's Poultry Brothers
Переглядів 125 років тому
A story my father told me about his father, county agent ML Mosher, who advised farmers in Illinois and Iowa, leading one pair of brothers to thank him with an stunningly generous offer. A story that deals with the pride of son for father down through the generations.
Postcard from Cairo
Переглядів 75 років тому
A toddler's first flight in and out of Cairo, Egypt is almost his last. With severe ear pain, in a 4-prop TWA Constellation, in 1950. From Bombay to places unimaginable, among them a railroad track right-of-way. Flames in the night, at three minutes past midnight.

A father, a son, a guitar teacher and a golden guitar flown from Mexico.
Thank you. Most of us neglected to ask questions of older family members when we had the chance. At least you are doing something about passing it on now. I got here from the slide rule title and I’ve never heard of one made that way. In the interest of accuracy, there are longer, and long, slide rules by Thatcher, Fuller, Otis King, and others.
Wow ! To say this man was a genius and a master craftsman would be an understatement !!!!
Yeah well, a crude wagon wheel marked as in the photo would not give 18 decimal places. Guy was a nut and obviously genes have passed to this idiot claiming deficiency in even basic slide rule operation. Decimal places are not represented by dandelion heads.
How has this video only had 2165 views? Great stuff..

Thanks for sharing this story! As somebody who hails from the midwest, I appreciated the gigantic slide rule desk.
Thank you.
Are you still alive
Yes. Still alive as of August 4, 2020. And how are YOU doing? And, by the way, who are you? Just wondering.
When I was in University ( I was an Ag Engineering major) we were told that Henry Wallace used the world's largest slide rule to to solve the statistical problems of hybrid corn production. Thank you for shining some light on a foot note to history.
Well that's very interesting. And in fact, Granddad Mosher knew and worked with Henry Wallace on hybrid corn development. They might not have been close politically--Granddad was a lifelong Republican--but remained close friends all their lives.
I was always a quiet kid and never asked questions of older relatives, I wish I had. Now I have so many questions.
Good stuff, Maynard! What about the little brown book? That sounds like the kind of information that was in the Firefox series of books. I would be very interested in knowing more about it.
