My last washer got a super gross build up of puddles and I learned it's because the drain port was clogged. having a shedding dog, 3 cats, kids who really enjoy dirt... I found a ton of what looked like sand.
Now, I make it a point to do this every 3 months just to stay on top of it.
You're going to need:
a good thirsty towel
something to grab things out of the filter pipeline that you can see
(i used two butter knives to get something that looked like the top of a liquid bottle under the lid)
air hose
hot water
clr mold and mildew
denture brush
