This is a great video, I learned so much about genderfluidity and how harmful the show actually was... I really enjoyed having loads of different people's takes on the issue, it really helped solidify just how much damage the representation and lack thereof has caused. This isn't to say that just hearing you alone talk about it would've made the criticism any less valid, just saying that there is a different sort of power hearing the opinion of a big group of people, rather than the thoughts of one, if that makes sense. Amazing video.

Thank you for this video. It was very informative. I’m a cis female, who loves the show, yet I felt very disappointed by the queer representation in it. Wasn’t sure why I was feeling that disappointed you showed me why I was feeling that way. And I am so sorry for the disappointment and anti representation it gave to you guys.

Im a little late to this video but as a cis person this was super educational! I knew some about Lokis gender fluidity and was excited at the possibility of it being discussed, but watching the show (though i do love it overall (especially from a technical aspect bc im a theatre kid)) I definitely recognized there were some major issues with LGBTQ+ rep even if i didn’t fully understand it. This was super fascinating to listen to and i think the information you have compiled here is super important to help people understand what their trans/genderfluid friends may be feeling so thanks :)

That was truly a great video, and I'm really glad I came across it! Just through the significant controversy surrounding the Loki series, I've learned so much from people like you about what it means to be genderfluid and what it doesn't! I can well imagine that certain contributors to Season 1 probably had good intentions but were either not well-informed themselves and/or had various writers and authorities muddle things up, resulting in too many inconsistencies in the series. Even in Season 1, I had the feeling that I wasn't getting what I had hoped for from Loki as a queer character, I just couldn't quite put my finger on why I felt that way. Especially now after watching this video, I would hope that those involved with Marvel can learn something from it for future series/movies. However, even with Season 2, I once again feel like I'm not getting what I would have liked to see from Loki, and Disney seems to be pulling back on representation... which is really a shame, considering contributors like Tom Hiddleston surely had the best intentions, just as he always conveyed in interviews...

I'm so in love with Tanz der Vampire, I only just saw it for the first time (live!!) about a week ago. An unforgettable experience. I knew about Herbert, but then the count approaching Alfred with that song had me like "huh? am i picking up on a ~vibe~ here?" Filippo Strocchi was playing Krolock that night and god, he was amazing! Though I will say Drew Sarich has a special place in my heart as Krolock, I just love him. I'm happy to see so much of him in this video ;) And uhm... maybe I should check out the Elisabeth musical after all...

I was twelve/thirteen when the show came out and had only just realized I'm queer, and, being a huge Loki fan, I was really excited about it. It's really sad to look back and have those memories turn sour with the realization of its many faults. I hope marvel does better in the future but to be honest I doubt they will.

I know this video is over a year old, but I just want to say I really enjoyed it, it's probably the most in-depth discussion I've seen of Loki's genderfluidity, I hadn't even made the connection to autogynephilia so I'm really glad you pointed that out. Sadly a season 2 is supposed to be released this year so I can only hope they perhaps address it there, though I don't think I'd enjoy seeing them include his genderfluidity now though because they obviously don't care and don't know what they're doing, as you said they've already fallen into some very awful tropes and stereotypes, I wished they'd never tried to promise us anything in the first place. I really don't understand how they managed to mess it up this bad when the comics are literally right there, I know the genderfluid shapeshifter thing is a bit old now, I guess it can be a good visual metaphor and it's an easy way to get an audience to understand (though the trope it is a bit of a rubbish metaphor when there are other actual mystical creatures and such), though I think I'd prefer that to anything we got here as I think it'd be too much to expect from Disney to do ANYTHING else. Anyway, I do encourage people to read the comics, you'll always get better queer representation from them than anything Disney or the MCU could give us.

I think the 2004 London Grantaire is Matt Harrop. I saw the cast with Oliver Thornton in person. I also think the 2001 Broadway Grantaire is Paul Truckey (I saw him when he later took over the role on tour, and it looks like him), but I don't think the Enjolras is Ben Davis: it's probably Christopher Mark Peterson, because Ben Davis had blond hair.
