It will depend on your group/tribe. Next week’s episode we will talk about honor. Within honor, a group or tribe assesses and standardizes their priorities and conduct. If your group has the luxury of stability, then mastery is afforded the flexibility of contribution. It can be decoupled from contribution, but proficiency is still a pre-requisite for being a man. In times of need, however, proficiency and contribution would be most important. If you are proficient in poems - it won’t be very helpful when the enemy raids the camp.

To answer the question - yes he would be considered objectively courageous, but subjectively he would be considered irrational, and possibly stupid depending on your value system. Courage is amoral, it is or it isn't; however once we apply a standard of conduct, or Honor, to our definition, it changes when and how we see courage. To quote my gunny, 'one man's hero, is another man's terrorist'. What one sees as courageous or gallant, another may see as vile or evil, based on their moral lens. Next Monday, we will cover Mastery, the third foundational virtue. Not only the mastering of skills and knowledge needed to be courageous and strong, but when and when not to place yourself into the position of using that skill/knowledge. OODA loops, Situational Awareness, and Threat/Action assessments are also skills we will cover at some point on this podcast.

Strength is the prerequisite for everything. Attaching pride to strength would ultimately change the virtue to be more subjective. Pride is going to be covered in episode 6, when we discuss Honor - the fourth foundational virtue.

@@heroesveritas I meant you bleed over into pride for a large chunk of the video and thought you meant it kinda like a balancing act of having "defensive" strength to allow you pride to be silenced to achieve something else as well as bolstering your pride with that "attack" type of strength.

Thank you for the feedback. This was the introduction. I originally was going to do each topic individually without this video, but felt it would lack context in that way. It ultimately will be 5-7 episodes where I deep dive into each one.

@@heroesveritas you know your targeted audience. I don't think you have to delve so much into the reason or authors or quotes. Leave that for discussion in the comments section or messages. A solid 10 mins would be nice so i can listen to it on those rare times i have no distractions.

@@angelfigueroa4535 I am still learning my pace/tempo. I definitely want to start releasing more concise episodes around singular topics; however episode 3, I realized I was trying to hit 2 targets. One, the man who feels like something is missing and needs to be 'taught' or 'guided' to why and how. And two, the man that already understands but wants to know he is not alone. I am working on getting better with separating the two. This feedback, helps a lot thank you.
