Great inspiring stories

Why is this initiative only looking at disabled people with lower limbs disabilities? I have athetoid cerebral palsy,, and operate my electric wheelchair with my chin. The wheelchair that I have is an OttoBock Jovi 4 or 5. The last one that I had, which lasted for 12 years was so much better than the current one. Originally I was issued with a Sunrise Quickie. I have a chin control that I can move out of the way electronically, when I need to. I’d had my Sunrise Quickie less than 3 months when the entire electronic arm literally fell off. It was then discovered that the entire arm was only held in place by one tiny screw. The wheelchair service gave me the choice of trying to have it repaired or getting me another OttoBock chair. The wheelchair service agreed and supported my decision to have another OttoBock chair. But the new 1 has proved very disappointing. Wires are hanging and get broken regularly, it’s supposed to have latch control, but OttoBock have said that I have too many other things on the chair for it to work (the only extra that is on it is the Bluetooth, that enables me to operate my mobile from it. When I had the demo the rep brought to my attention the lights, which are held in place by magnets, but they are always falling off and getting broken: the magnets need to be much stronger. I’m feeling pretty frustrated about my wheelchair at the moment, and I know the people at Southend wheelchair service feel the same. So when I saw your article, I thought, at long last, someone is really going to design an electric wheelchair that is fit for purpose. You can imagine my disappointment when I heard that it was only for people with lower limbs disabilities Please, please Martin,could you push this to include people who have more complex needs when it comes to wheelchairs. Make the wheelchair have 4 deployable "legs" that would extend more on the back when going on a scalator to keep the chair leveled
