      @hasstafford1656 Hi, if asking about the wye, the parts are as follows. The Wye (Kato 20222), 4 13 11/16" 30° curves (Kato R348-30), 1 #6 Right Turnout (Kato 20203), 1 #6 Left Turnout (Kato 20202), 2 Straight 9 3/4" (Kato 20000) and Straight 1 15/16" (Kato 20092 set) Otherwise, turnouts on the layout are all #6 except for the 1 wye. Just a note you will need to do some type of isolation on the wye section as the polarity crosses over. It will short your whole layout when you run trains across a certain point otherwise. I'm doing DCC, and I'm using the Digitrax AR1 Auto Reverser. If you're doing DC, I would recommend looking at a video about wiring a wye. As that is done a little differently

    nice pike, devin !!! imho, that double track siding at 1:27 would be a great place for a ferrous metal/ ev battery recycling facility. i just added one to my layout and it surely adds a ton of action while creating an industry that a lot of guys do not model. nothing worse than seeing something everyone else models !!! also, again imho, at 2:52 where you have what is going to be your largest industry, you might want to have 2 industries , one large and one relatively small just to add more "switching fun" to that zone !! your wye is really nice, too, with a great location !!! as far as my ferrous metal/ev recycling facility goes, it recycles electric vehicle car batteries ( the type that actually powers the car...not the start-up only type)... this kind of facility creates what the recycling profession calls "black mass", which is a lithium/nickle/manganese/cobalt mixture that is chemically extracted from the spent ev battery and fits nicely with the ferrous metal recycling aspect. ferrous metal and those 4 chemicals from the spent ev car batteries are purchased from the plant by the original car manufacturer to make even more ev batteries !! i am quite sure plants like this will be popping up everywhere in canada and the u.s. as electric vehicles become more and more popular !!! WOW !! you asked for ideas... i guess i went overboard a bit !!! keep 'em rollin', my friend !!! denny p.s. devin, if you are interested, google it and you will find a ton of information and ideas for this type of plant... i am glad i did !!!

      @@ByeBye257 yes, devin, researching various industries for our layouts is an important part of our hobby. by picking the right industries we stay interested longer and go through less bullsh-- !! i really try to make buildings/facilities/etc different from what all the other modelers have, which is almost always "right out of the box" stuff... kitbashing is fun and helps make unique buildings on our layouts !!! i also have a problem with layouts that are totally clean and impeccable looking. real railroads can be pretty shi--y looking at times !!! keep up the good work !!!

    Hi and thanks for the layout overview. While I'm personally not a huge fan of running in circles (but that's always a matter of taste of course), this still looks like a nice place to have some switching ops. Will be interesting to follow a long and check out the scenery work as well. Subscribed.

    I just got this yesterday. the Maxi I. And I have spent 3 frustrating hours and I almost busted my blood vessel I wanted to throw this thing out the window..What an overengeeried piece of doo doo. I am sending this thing back. And even if I get this to work... I am sure I am going to lose one of these wheels. Its all loose piece of garbage that is going to fall somehwere and the whole thing is going to go waste. And yes I have watched about 3 utube videos on how to string this together..and I still couldn;t get it to work

      At first I was having a lot of trouble with them but I found that the trucks on the center car were on backwards. But I'd have to say compared to the old one I thing there "coupling" system is a whole lot better.

  • @elsongs
    @elsongs 10 років тому

    Most of the time, Maxi-I and Maxi-IV cars do not usually run in the same train. Maxi-I cars carry 40' containers which are mainly for international (overseas) freight and Maxi-IVs carry 53' containers which are for domestic freight (they do not fit in container ships). You can see 53' containers on top of 40-footers, but usually 40' and 53' containers run in different trains. You do see Maxi-IV cars or the equivalent with 53' containers run together with TOFC/piggyback cars with t53' trailers (also domestic freight) fairly often though.

    • @ByeBye257
      @ByeBye257 10 років тому

      Well out here in the Midwest I see them running together all the time and CP most the time does what ever they want with most there train, really making a "mixed freight". But on the coasts I could see that

    • @elsongs
      @elsongs 10 років тому
