    the act of streamlining your workflow speaks to me in so many ways, because most times I just forego of the prep stage and jump right in. what this leads to is clutter. an obscene amount of. I will definitely have to rethink how I approach things because of the fundamentals of what you said. Thanks!

    Maybe you know how to automatically make a send to a specific track? i think of something like that Lokasenna actions but where it is already destined that it's going to a track, say, named "reverb".

    • @itsoundshuman
      @itsoundshuman 23 дні тому

      Hi! I do remember the Lokasenna, but my fail with that is that you have to write the name just as it is. Op2: Shift + CMD + Left Click, opens a Menu for send. Op3: Create send between selected tracks and track under mouse cursor There's another one in the Reapack but it sends the Selected FX into a new Track and creates a Send into it. Something like Create Send from Focused Track & it appears under FX Category.

    • @NihilQuest
      @NihilQuest 23 дні тому

      @@itsoundshuman Thanks, that's cool but not what I'm trying to achieve. I have a midi controller and I wanted to replicate a hardware console behavior, where I would send a track to a reverb with a knob or a button. Creating every new track with an active, but muted send to a reverb, would do the job but what a mess it would be as well. I'm guessing this all can be done with ReaLearn plugin but this is beyond my capabilities at the moment. This is frustrating, because that Lokasenna action is really close to what I want. A template where I would type the name of the send track into the code and save it as an action would be sufficient.

    Gran video tocayo, gracias! In reaper I have various custom folders besides favorites just like you but my folders are also with premade-chains and some by category and whenever I add a new one I immediately drop it into a "NEW" folder, test it and if its good enough then I move it to its corresponding folder and that could be favorite or whatever it will rest. If i dont like it or need it that much but its useful for specific cases I drop it in a "dont forget" folder.

    Or you just buy an Arturia 16RIG and get all of your questions covered in one piece. By acquiring each type of hardware piece by piece in your setup, you can effectively manage the grow against your budget. But with Focusrite, you'll have to get everything powered at all time. Sometimes, even with the computer on (found out that the hard way, bye focusrite). The recent hardwares allow both Dawless and assisted workflows. A game changer.

    • @itsoundshuman

    I think you misunderstood something about thunderbolt. => it's an active standard that is being used and very useful. What you were thinking about was Thunderbolt 2, which is on the way out, but Thunderbolt 3 and 4 use the usb c plug and are superior to usb c. It's a bit confusing with all the standards, but for professional use, I would rather have a thunderbolt connection than a USB one.

    • @itsoundshuman
      @itsoundshuman Місяць тому

      This an importante clarification. I have very clear the data options, but I probably should have shown the type of connector I want to stay completely away from, that Thunderbolt squared one. Despite that, I think the average user doesn'know USB C is Thunderbolt ;) that's why I went that way. Thx for watching.

    • @waldemarheart2463
      @waldemarheart2463 Місяць тому

      Have you watched the RME video about usb? It's quite convincing about the superiority of usb 2 in most, not all(!), cases. (Maybe given the drivers are good...)

    • @itsoundshuman
      @itsoundshuman Місяць тому

      @@waldemarheart2463 I have to check it out, but honestly for audio USB 2 is already a lot. I'll come back after watching it.

    • @jonas.stolle
      @jonas.stolle Місяць тому

      @@waldemarheart2463 I've read their article about it and I agree, USB2 is for most cases more than enough. My point was not to say it's bad, but that many of the higher end interfaces use thunderbolt and by leaving them out by ignoring thunderbolt in this video, people miss out on some interfaces that might be better suited for them, than the ones that have the "only" USB2.

    • @waldemarheart2463
      @waldemarheart2463 Місяць тому

      @@jonas.stolle Yes sure, would be great to see more Thunderbolt interfaces in the video, I didn't mean to disagree with that point! I only wanted to question that thunderbolt is more professional for Audio than USB. I just find it remarkable that a highly professional brand like RME states that "superb audio quality and low latency are independent from the chosen connector" and prefers USB over Thunderbolt for most applications because it's "inexpensive, widely accepted, has enough bandwidth and will be supported for years to come". Side note: over the last year I had a Thunderbold interface from Antelope. Bad drivers I think: Thunderbolt wasn't recognized anymore after half a year, they couldn't solve it, had to switch to the USB port...

  • @TheOriginalCoda
    @TheOriginalCoda Місяць тому

    When you're talking about power around the 16:00 mark, there's some misinformation here. Yes USB is 5V but volts is not power. Power (Watts) is Volts * Amps. 5V at the current that USB can provide is plenty to drive a few line-level channels. I am an electronics engineer, and a SW engineer that worked on USB devices. If you want any clarification or further explanation, just ask. Edit: I apologise, I think the word 'misinformation' is too strong, replace with 'inaccuracy' or 'misunderstanding' maybe.

    • @itsoundshuman
      @itsoundshuman Місяць тому

      Hey! Thx for adding on the comment. I know my comment was vague, but I tried to make it vague enough, I agree with you. It's already a 40 min video with no deep engineering content. Headphones, speakers and microphones will suffer when there's little to feed from on that I think we can agree! I'll pin your comment. Thx ❣️ [Edit] Probably there my english is missing something, but I just watched again that fragment. As far as I remember when you "power something" you are turning it on. I'm not really talking about specific units, although the comment on 5V is close enough to maybe be understood by that. Lmk if I'm missing something in my translation to english. :)

    If you ok NOT having real tactile experiences , there are lots of cheap touchscreen laptop and old IPADs plus several apps which help you control (almost) everything better than mouse or computer keyboard . At least until you can afford to buy solid midi controllers . Right now I`m enjoying using my old Ipad 2 + Touchable + Midi Studio Pro and touchscreen laptop +XOTO PAD app, more than other midi controllers I`ve had . It will work both wireless or using one port USB . And since those apps also offer features to make custom layout and any kind of midi messages , I can literally can make virtual version of any midi controller I want or to suit my workflow better . The most obvious downside is you wouldn`t get tactile experience just like you`ve got with hardware form . And maybe you need to setup manually :)

    • @itsoundshuman
      @itsoundshuman 2 місяці тому

      Instrument Rack probably is not a good idea for this specific excercise. Since you want to treat this as a Return Track. You could group it using one single Audio Effect Rack, but it's still cluttered since it's just the small Device space. I'd much rather have more Tracks to see and handle the fader, it won't consume more CPU but you can get to them faster and collapse them inside a folder so they don't take more visual space. I'm guessing you didn't finish the video? I show several examples.

    This is always what I am looking for. I just found your channel and I immediately knew a minute in that you are seriously skilled, passionate, and ready to share your wealth of info. This stuff does to go unappreciated, especially for newer people getting into music production.
