It's not really an abandoned place, but it is one for those who hike out.. a shared place.. like a bothy.. its nice because the people who visit, leave it so beautifully and appreciate how great it is.. and that's why things have been left behind..

Why don't they turn them into homes for people who don't have home instead of building houses decent need on country side 🇬🇧

THat door at 1:06 is very typical 1930s-1940s. My mum lived in a 1930s house with that type of door and I viewed another house with the same again.

The writing say “Built by POW” then the date. These are the sewage filter beds constructed by WW1 prisoners. This was built for the large ‘Rugeley Camp’ , that is the army training camp on hill above that valley. Another large army training camp, was further over towards Brocton.

Hi Luke I worked at Littleton colliery for 10 years.if you go to the school entrance you will see a shaft marker and small garden this was my idea to put them in.we formed a group and did a lot of fundraising and got them made. The one in the garden is actually on the shaft it’s got all the history of the pit on it the one on the side on colliers way is 150 feet away but in line with the old shaft .thats got a lot of history on that on too, it’s well worth checking them out hope this helps you @Exploring With Andy

An interesting insight into the house 👍

You are in the valley below what used to be the 1st world war hospital, later to become Brindley Village, when the hospital was decommisioned after the war, local people were allowed to move into the old buidings, and a thriving community was built up, with a school etc. When the hospital was there, the waste sewerage went through settling tanks and the solids stayed in the tanks and the water went down to the 2 bases that you have found, they are circular because there was a thick bed of cinders laid down with a set of pipes about 4 inch diameter in the form of a cross, the middle of which was connected to the raised block in the middle of each circle , it was on a bearing of some sort so that it could rotate, there was a pole about 3foot high in the centre with cables down to the end of each pipe to support it and more cables connecting the ends to keep it stable. the end of the pipes were blocked, and holes drilled on an angle every few inches underneath the pipes, so that when the dirty water from the settling pits ran down more pipes to the centre, it built up pressure and the water in the cross pipes flowed out through the holes, with the holes being on an angle the water pressure turned the cross pipes and the water flowed through the cinders to clean it, from there it flowed down the valley and eventually into the River Trent at Rugeley.

Sleep on the floor? Outhouse? Beautiful location.

Places like this are great if your out hiking and need shelter.
