What kayak fishing is all about
Переглядів 778 місяців тому
This is s short compilation of the recent fishing trips I have taken on my kayak.
Love to watch fisherman ! Nice gear
Hidden gem in the sierra national forest. Ive been a few times with my buddies and my family.
It’s a great place for a quick stretch especially if you on your way to courtright or wishon reservoirs.
What off ramp did u take from 99
This was one ave 20 1/2. It’s a much nicer ride in my opinion. You avoid going through any city streets.
Nice video thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
I couldn’t watch the video right I was looking an listening to your 1834 fishing reel 😮
I can most definitely do a review of it if you like.
What size weight are you using
I was switching between 2 and 3 oz weights the setback on the line varied. If I recall correctly it was around 75ft setback to get down to depth.
@@rustycompassadventures thank you
@@geno8150 you’re welcome.
That’s my favorite place
I love being up here. It’s so peaceful!
That first location looks amazing
THE SEMI FACE REVEAL
Haha!! 🤣
What was your speed/depth when trolling. Have always wanted to go for salmon and may be stopping by soon. Looks like one beautiful lake. Can’t wait to see it in person
For koanee salmon I usually keep it between 1.2 and 1.4 very similar to trout. I like to go in a. Zigzag pattern while trolling. A lot of the times you can get a bite in the middle of the turn. As far as depth goes if I remember correctly we were at 35’. However I’m sure since then the fish have gone deeper due summer heat making the lake a little warmer. It’s a Great Lake to fish but right now it’s extremely crowded during summer season. Once the temps start dropping again the recreational boaters will start to leave.
@@rustycompassadventures how will the fishing up there change here at the end of summer? Worth it to wait it out? Also, thank you for all that info, super appreciated
@@ryant6220 the fishing maintains fairly decently throughout the year so going at the end of summer isn’t a bad idea. The only thing I would say is late summer early fall the Kokanee are hard to reach as they go deeper. I would still check the fishing reports prior to going. Just like any other lake the fish can go from having a great bite to just having lockjaw. It’s happened to me a lot up there. I would say the best time to fish this lake is definitely in the spring time before it gets really busy up there. Huntington lake is a great option as a backup lake since it’s higher elevation and maintains slightly cooler temps and way less people. And your welcome always happy to answer any questions
@@rustycompassadventures thank you man I appreciate you so much!!!
I want to see these big guys one day!
Definitely plan on it if you visit California. They aren’t that far off the beaten path.
Thank you for showing us what beauty there is just a short distance away.😊
My pleasure 😊
I like that there are no crowds
Savage out there in the heat. Was anyone else out there at all? This makes me want to go out and fish the bank regardless of the heat
The heat has been pretty brutal especially when there is no wind. Once the wind kicks up it's nowhere near as bad. Honestly it's been a weird summer, each time I have headed out to this lake there haven't been that many boats or kayaks in the water.
Awesome. The fact that this was only a few days ago is super motivating 🙏🏼
The bite is on fire out there. If you can get it in front of them they are taking it.
Can you do a rundown on your trailer? I have the same one but haven’t modified it to strap my kayak on lol. Just been sitting for 6 months under my patio
For sure I can definitely work on getting something like that recorded. It’s not complex but it’s definitely cheaper than some of the alternatives out there. It’s a great trailer for hauling the kayak around.
First again 🎉
Nice
Love how clear the water is amazing!
It was jaw dropping to see water this clear.
Fun videos to watch. Nice set up. I have a paddleboard I wanna take out there to fish. Looks like there was almost no one out there.
Thank you. It has been an odd summer out there. I’ve been finding it to be pretty relaxed out at this lake over the summer. Normally there are more people on the weekends but that hasn’t been the case. The other lakes like pine flat and millerton have been getting all the attention. Fine by me I enjoy a pleasant quiet day on the water.
@@rustycompassadventures don't forget about shaver. Lol. Is it hot out there on Eastman?
@@Sawdustsailor I have two videos in shaver already. Once the commotion dies down up there I will make another trip out there. Eastman right now is super hot. I saw the weather report and it was like 110 out there.
You must've left at 4 am
3:30 to be exact. lol.
That looks like Wishon
Nope definitely Courtright. Wishon’s dam is much wider and the dome on the right side is voyager rock which belongs to courtright.
@@rustycompassadventures crazy. Happy fishing
Intro was cool with the views of the drive and the lake but you with the mask on if front of camera was creepy then you did it again at end of video. I would edit that out. Just constructive criticism not trying to be rude. Good fishing 👍🏾
Thank you for the feedback. I’m still getting comfortable being in front of the camera. Just a little camera shy. Eventually I’ll get comfortable enough. Hopefully soon.
You're literally wearing a mask in your profile pic
@@vgee3926 profile picture is of my son on a cold morning of fishing hence the beanie. What does that have to do with anything?
That must had been a giant on the end of the line.
That’s what I was thinking. So sad. But that’s my fault for not tightening up the drag a little more.
Either a huge bass or a catfish
@@dominiconate528 I’m thinking more like catfish. It didn’t really feel like a bass on the other end the way it was fighting.
@@rustycompassadventures hey I have a question how much does it cost to launch there?
@@dominiconate528 Its $10 every day. $40 for the year pass though. So if your going to head out there more than 4 times its worth it. The pass gives you access to other lakes in the area as well.
heeeeey I know that flag
Shhhh keep it a secret. Haven’t done the unmasking yet. lol.
Great video man!! I’ve always wanted to make a kayak video for my channel!! Love watching your videos mate! Awesome job, keep it up! 🤝💪
Thank you so much! That means a lot! It’s never too late to make some kayak content! Been fishing out of my kayak for a few years and just got the itch to start filming it all so I can share with everyone else.
Awesome set up!
Thank You!
What brand are those terminal boxes?
KEESHINE is the brand. If you type in KEESHINE tackle box on Amazon you will find it. The ones I use are the larger size options to choose from. It should be this size. (Size: 7.8" L x 4.2" W x 1.8" H). Hope this helps.
@@rustycompassadventures thank you for the reply!
@@seanmarvin5348 your welcome! Anytime!
Great organization. Gave me a couple of ideas. Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you liked it! Everyone has their own way of managing tackle on the water. You end up refining it over time. It will always continue to evolve and change.
I approve of this editing, try to get a better close up of the fish though.
I thought I had my POV camera mounted further down and was tryhing to get that angle. I will try to adjust for future videos.
Very nice
Line counter reel go brrr
