Swamis Surf on a Solid Day... a bit Chaotic on the 1st Swell of the Season (San Diego, Dec-22-24)
These were most of the set waves over a little more than an hour, between 10:45am and noon on December 22nd, 2024. It was my first time playing with video on my camera so was a bit slow to get rolling on a few waves. Also - a tripod will be on my Xmas list after this!

Atmospheric Pressure Differences w/Elevation Explained - Why Do Chip Bags Expand Going Up Mountains?
Переглядів 4842 місяці тому
Field Video for for Professor Crook's Physical Geography class at Palomar College I talk about this phenomenon every semester but some folks are unfamiliar with it, so I made a timelapse that shows it in action! In this video I demonstrate the basic atmospheric properties and processes that result in this phenomenon!
Volcanic Eruption Simulation - High Pressure Liquid Nitrogen Exploding in Water
Переглядів 1,6 тис.3 місяці тому
Have you always wanted to witness an explosive volcanic eruption up close but can't quite get the timing right? This video is for you! Always a highlight of our Palomar College Earth Science Day festivities! Thanks to Prof. Figg and Prof. Sleeper for putting together the demonstration. Don't try this at home!
Slow Motion Videos of Exploding Liquid Nitrogen Simulating Explosive Volcanic Eruptions!

Demonstrations carried out at Palomar College's Earth Science Day by Prof. Figg and Prof. Sleeper. These demos illustrate similar processes to an explosive volcanic eruption. A bottle filled with liquid nitrogen quickly vaporizes to gas and builds pressure within the bottle - when the pressure is too great, the explosion occurs! Don't try this at home!
Sunrise over Mt. Whitney and the Eastern Sierra from Alabama Hills - Timelapse while Making Coffee
Переглядів 1223 місяці тому
Classic Eastern Sierra sunrise. Unfortunately forgot to turn off the iPhone auto-white balance - It still pops once the sun hits the mountains - but the sky is way lighter than it should be at the start. I also tacked on a quick panorama I took about halfway through to show what it looked like on the ground.

I really want to go up there once to surf on a good day. But I feel like I would be dodging people more than surfing the wave.
The waves have arrived but the crowds never left 😉
Some good surfers
Nice video. Where were you shooting from?
Just down the cliff a bit from the parking lot - there was a bit of an opening with some "unstable cliff" warning signs and such. I thought the view down the lineup was cool and allowed getting multiple waves at once during the sets!
Been there done that
The number of people with the lip landing on them or getting closed out is insane!
THANKS FOR THE CLIPS !
Biggest sets: 0:00 (for the first 2 min), 4:05, 9:52, 12:40, 14:47, 17:52 Barrels: 0:17, 1:43, 3:20, 4:32, 12:52, 14:41, 15:50 Dolphins trying to catch a wave: 15:18
Have seen a few videos about RS image classification before, but none with such clear and precise explanations as this one. Really very helpful.
Incredibly helpful, thank you!
Iyoub9uhouh
Thank you 🎉
very nice lecture, are there the rest of lessons in order ?
Boris and cam being eastern European. Boeing's all the time.
To be honest, it never come to my mind that going to the mountain may impact the tires of the car
Great explanation and demonstration!
Os pneus do carro dele provavelmente ficaram mais calibrados.
Why , PV=nRT , comming to my mind ?
and now the return journey - empty bottle at the top, cap it. watch it collapse on the drive back down?
Hope to do that from even higher next summer!
Hello people in 2034! 🥰
misread the title and watched all 4 minutes wondering when the explosion was going to happen...
When you realize your chips are getting more air than you on this road trip!
TIL ruffles are immune to inflation
After all that and he pinches the bag open instead of squeezing it.... 😩 😂
Mistakes were made
How did he drive so fast?
Nothing faster than a 2006 Xterra
So, american chips overinflate under certain circumstances much like mexican chips do, got it. PS, this just proves we're all equal, hence it also ends racism, YES!!! Man Im so smart🙃
Spicy Pillow
I can’t wait to watch this again in 10 years. Maybe by then I’ll have made this drive myself!
Was wondering why he didn't do Lays. But then again, Lays is already 100% air, he probably didn't what his car to explode.
I knew those kettle cooked bags seemed to have more air in them.
green one wouldn’t explode lmao
Hey people 10 years later, how’s your day going?
This settles it, I'm done excersising and eating healthy, I'm moving to sea level.
Had this happen to a bag of cape cod chips that I brought to Denver, it was so puffed up.
Now I'm curious.. how do they deliver chips to shops located on such altitudes?
Another commenter said they worked at a shop in a high elevation town and there were ALWAYS popped bags in the box on arrival.
@crookedcontours amazing 🐥
The music really made this
props to the guy for speaking so fast and to learning how to talk like sounding like a guitar,
unintentional ad for the durability of kettle chip bags, lol
Don't take them on a plane they'll be everywhere
imagine what would happen to a cat O___O
A long time ago (2008) I bought a soda in New Mexico and didn't get around to opening it until I was near the highest point in I80 in Wyoming and it didn't errupt, it just kinda lazily fizzed up and over the brim.
New unseen footage of Lays manufacturing their chips:
3 AM youtube video recommendations never disappoint
This seems like those videos 10 years ago
This was interesting and brings up some questions.
I have always wondered why no one would use the amazing satellites that can supposedly “read a license plate from space;” why wouldn’t they be able to see through some of the water. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I’m sure those can be used! But they aren’t just snapping images of everywhere all the time… those have to be sent to look at something specifically. So it’s good to have these capabilities on the “worse quality” images so we can measure change over time, etc!
Took almost half the video to reach the elevation I've always lived at. I have a rough time going below 1,500 m / 5,000 ft. 😛
These USGS to ArcGIS videos are very helpful!! Will be using these to do my remote sensing final project. Thank you!!
Wellp I watched this.
Just remember this is also happening to your body
