Audient 48 Channel Analog Recording Console + Signal Flow
Переглядів 9 тис.5 років тому
A quick overview of the basic analog recording workflow and signal flow when using one of the Audient consoles at Massey University in Wellington, NZ. This is here to hopefully help anyone who is having issues while using the consoles at Massey. www.T-Lloyd.com T-Lloyd Productions
Thank you.. Making alien stuff comprhensible😂🎶✨
The workflow on this console is the best of both world but ....preamps are too clean and you can not drive it like SSL or API though also the EQ sounds flimsy. Y'all just have to go try it out. I give it 6.5 out of 10 rating.
Excellent video.
The sound is terrible. For a video about audio, you should be aware of the audio.
Can you make out what I am saying and explaining in the video? That's what matters. I wasn't trying to be Puremix or Mix With The Masters. This video was just a video to quickly run through the process of how to use a desk for anyone learning. Im not trying to be a youtuber or influencer so it's really just there as a helpful tool to anyone who needs help. If this free resource hasn't helped you; then there are plenty of others out there that may help! Have a great day!
Thank you!
Bro can u make a video on headphones like how to plug the headphone to the counsel for both booth and the control room and how to do headphone mix and how to setup it to protools
I want to route the signal from the input of any channel to an external preamp and don't the console preamp.. Can I do this? I have 3 live rooms with snakes each one: Live A: 1-16 chan inputs of the console Live B: 17 - 32 ch inputs of the console Live C: 33 - 48 ch inputs of the consol But, I also have a snake in Live A with another 16 inputs connected to the tie lines of the patchbay...The only way I can use an external preamp is through this second snake and patch to another channel through LINE in in channel path or rec directly to the multitrack. I can't use the external preamps in the others Live Rooms because I have no access to this snake. This is the signal flow I want to try: Live B Mic > ch 17 input > use api preamp > return to the same ch 17 I don't know if is correct to use the Insert point to preamp a mic signal. Also the Device Out of a channel doesn't send any signal :( Sorry my english! Hope you understand me!
Great vid! Thanks!
Triumphal!
Ty!
I use this desk at work with the patchbay, I think you explain how to use it really well. Good work dude
Thank you broo so much for making this video!
Love it, mate.Thank you! You've demystified this console for me.
This is one of THE best videos out there. Like 90% of this I'm doing like you showed. Minor "bugs" in my workflow still.
That's awesome, stoked its helping you out!
Sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Leonidas Heath Instablaster =)
@Brantley Orlando Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Brantley Orlando it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy! Thank you so much you saved my ass !
Thanks, Is there any single converter that has 48 A/D/DA converter in the market. Am thinking of have live recording of a band or orchestra then remix later .
Maybe recording everything digitally and Daisy-Chaining in order to get enough inputs?
Thanks.
Late reply so hopefully you found an answer by now but there aren't a lot. Your best option is to get two 24 channel converters and connect them together with thunderbolt or some type of optical. Two 32 channel converters would work as well since they're typically around the same price. Apogee and Antelope do make 64 channel converters with all 128 I/O paths housed internally but those are around 10K each. Most importantly, depending on what version of Pro Tools you're using, the I/O limit is capped at either 32 or 64 unless you have multiple HDX PCIe cards and at least 3 Digidesign Avid interfaces running though Digilink or mini-Digilink. If you're running something like a Mac Mini or Studio good luck with that and if you're on PC may God have mercy on your PCI bays depending on how big your case is. If you're using a different DAW like Reaper then disregard that last part. Like the other guy said there are digital stage boxes that Midas and Presonus make that can handle 32-64 channels but those typically only interface with digital consoles through a direct ethernet connection, Dante, or a secure private wifi connection. I'm not sure how you'd go about connecting one of those to an analog console without spending a ton of probably unnecessary money on networking switches when you could probably just use something like a StudioLive or M32 as a gigantic USB interface. Analog is always the way to go IMO but for your use case staying in the digital world is probably going to be cheaper and less of a headache.
Thanks , very clear, in your setup ? How do you go from Audient into protools to get all the 48 channels into the protools simultaneously?
As long as the DFA button in the centre isn't pressed down; the first 24 channels will have their small bus routing matrix up the top default from 1-24 (I.e. you press down button 1 on channel 1; it will go to input 1 in pro tools) and the second 24 channels will default to 25-48 (I.e. if you press down button 1 on channel 25; it will go to input 25 in pro tools). Hope this helps
@@tinytriumphrecordings1040 Thanks , this helps alot.
Good content
Thank u. Very clear explanation..I'd love to see a video like this on the signal flow for mixing too!
Thanks B, great idea. I'll try and do a mixing signal flow video at some point soon!
@@tinytriumphrecordings1040 looking forward to it!
Mate, this was such a clear and helpful video, thanks so much for uploading. Would love to see more of these if you have the time, maybe breaking down the patch bay or going more in depth with the Audient?
Hey Angus, cool glad it was helpful! Yeah doing a patch bay demo is a great idea! I'll try and find time this month to get a video explanation and walk through of it done and uploaded. If you have any other questions about the console that a video could help with; let me know! T
Hey Angus, I have just done a Patchbay walkthrough. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/JOYWWyeQ3zE/v-deo.html
How large is the Monitor you use because in the Manual it says it can only go up to 19".
than you . i have been looking at this console
