@@po1ly414​​⁠​​⁠this was not a spin lol if you’ve been instructed that this is a spin I’d go ask for a refund.. he needs to apply full rudder during entry so the aircraft yaws over the lowered wing. When the wing drops the lowered wing will be well past critical AOA and the difference in AOA between the wings will cause rotation. This is barely a spiral dive 😂 I’d call this a steep descending turn if anything

Additionally, consider that the leading wing is less stalled than the rear and that there’s 1.5 degrees of dihedral: how is the difference in AOA creating the asymmetrically stalled condition? Answer these before calling the quality of my instructors into question

@@po1ly414​​⁠​​⁠​⁠​​⁠​⁠​​⁠​​⁠yes full spin entry requires full rudder and spin recovery requires full opposite rudder lol read your POH. When a down going wing experiences an increased angle of attack at or near the stalling angle, it loses lift, becomes more stalled, and automatically continues to drop (full rudder for maximum wing drop, as POH calls for). The upgoing wing, because of its relative upward movement, meets the airflow at a reduced angle of attack, becomes less stalled, and produces more lift, which accentuates the roll. Also, drag on the downgoing wing increases sharply, adding to the existing yaw force, which effectively increases the angle of attack of the downgoing wing, stalling it further. The nose drops owing to the loss of lift, and autorotation or “spinning” sets in. Do you need me to explain AOA too? The video is as clear as it gets, it is blatantly obvious there is no autorotation. The maneuver in the video is barely even a spiral dive because the recovery didn’t require ailerons neutral. This is really just a poorly executed descending steep turn which is why he recovered by banking and pitching up simultaneously. Again I’d suggest you go get refunded because your instructors obviously failed you if you aren’t aware of basic flight theory and I’m not going to continue teaching you everything you should’ve learnt in ground school via youtube comments 😂

@@MaxPower-zs7we Autorotation is for helicopters. Good work reading the POH, but if you’ve ever flown the plane you’d know that skyhawks are difficult to get into a spin and recover themselves the moment pro- spin inputs are removed. In fact, early in the spin there’s sometimes so little AOA that the washout is enough to maintain aileron authority! I’d say my instructors did a great job by actually going flying and letting me feel the aircraft and how it really behaves.

Hey, I’m a private pilot with nearly 300 hours in the skyhawk and I believe you’ve got a couple misconceptions. Stalls occur due to an excedence of the critical AOA, they are unrelated to airspeed. You can stall a skyhawk at any airspeed because a great enough load factor will “push” the wing into a stall. Additionally, 172s like most GA aircraft are certainly designed to enter full stalls and even spins. Look in the POH to see that those are among the approved maneuvers! I believe that the maneuver being performed is a recovery from the incipient phase of the spin which is so effortless in a Skyhawk that you can basically let go of the controls and recover. Good point about the airspeed, it is very easy to overspeed a 172 in a spin recovery and it is critical to be gentle because you are likely well over Va.

​ @po1ly414 This is not about SOP or POH. At the moment of stall departure with yaw, the spin has not developed. Until at least one full turn, it's insipient spin. This is also a good time to begin a spin recovery.. @bananaguy683 has a good explanation below.
