I love playing this Van Halen classic. It's always a bit tricky to play along to the original track if you just want to sit down and start jamming because the guitar is tuned down 1/2 step and at around 450 Hz instead of 440. So I decided to make this track for you guys to play along and learn this fun song in standard tuning.

@@hTyKn1 It definitely is a challenge at the beginning, but the more songs you play and the more you focus on some theory the more patterns you will recognize in many songs. So you won't have to remember every note but rather licks and patterns. + Your muscle memory will do the rest :)
I am not a guitarist or a musician of any kind but it fascinates me to watch. Is there a name for the action you do from :34-:38? It reminds me of a part in Warriors back in the day by Thin Lizzy. Always loved that sound- thank you for posting this!
@@robertenglehardt9706 Thanks!! I appreciate it!! I'm not sure if there's a specific name for the lick. But it's a variation of a common lick that probably emerged in blues first and is used in many genres (mostly blues/rock/metal I'd say) - so definitely makes sense if you recall Thin Lizzy :). It's a combination of hammer-ons (hitting a fret without using your right hand to pluck the string), bending the string and pull-offs (plucking the string with the fingers of your left hand without picking with your right hand). It gives the riff sort of a legato/flowing feel.
